"No, I would not. Do you really think that if the United States had reverted to a non-interventionist foreign policy any time before 1970 or so, that 9/11 still would've happened? Would Mohammed Atta and his alleged 18 cohorts have still thought striking a blow against a country that hadn't done any evil deeds in the Middle East would still have been worth dying for? I don't think so. 99.999% of people on this planet are something other than crazy, and most who are crazy aren't capable of stringing together a terrorist plot. People have to be really motivated before they decide to commit themselves to a certain death - and that motivation isn't going to happen without a serious provocation."
So what you are saying is that if we became an isolationist country, no hate crimes would happen? I'm sorry but I cannot believe that. There will always be evil in the world, and just because we decide to turn the other cheek on the world, that does not mean that evil acts will not occur.
Also, are you saying that if some group is committing genocide (like what was happening in Kosovo), we should just let it happen? We should just turn our backs on the plight of another group of people? Should we just let everyone else kill each other while we sit back and worry about ourselves, even though we have the ability to help the people in need? Does that not seem extremely selfish and irresponsible to you? How could you look at yourself in the mirror knowing that thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of people died because you let them?
Let me ask you this: If you had to kill one innocent person, in order save millions, would you not consider that an acceptable sacrifice? Or would you condemn those millions to death because you could not take that one life? Would not those deaths be your fault because of your inaction? They would all be alive if only you had done something to save their lives.
Tell me, which is the world you want to live in? The one where you just turn your back on the world and let chaos reign? Or the one where you have to make tough choices, but those choices could potentially make the world we live in a better, safer place for not just you, but for everyone who live in it?
