Is the premise "all men are created equal" necessary for a Western republic?
See above. I have thoughts on this but will save them for a little while later.

Please be mindful of the additional etiquette requests I am making in the next post.

Michael Jackson was a child molester, yet people like his music, my two cents on that.
Those who believe that Marxism makes sense also believe that unicorns exist.
Those who do not believe that a fetus is a human being are science deniers.

It's strange that you right-wing Trumpists worship the US constitution like it's a religious text, yet on this issue you disagree with it.

A woman's right to abortion is constitutionally protected - isn't it?
Jamiet99uk (848 D)
15 Dec 17 UTC
And thinking of Trump's recent foreign policy nonsense with Jerusalem, it also strikes me as strange that team MAGA don't care about all the Palestinian children being murdered by the Israeli state.

Now that's sick.
Jamiet99uk (848 D)
15 Dec 17 UTC
The Trumpist hypocrisy on the claimed sanctity of human life is actually pretty sick. Think about these things too:

Republicans are much more likely than non-Republicans to support the death penalty. That's about as far from 'pro life' as it gets surely?

Thousands of Americans die every year from gunshots. Republicans overwhelmingly oppose restricting or reducing gun rights. Not very compassionate.

Republican legislators oppose environmental laws regarding air pollution, even though around 200,000 humans die every year in the USA from poor air quality. Including a lot of babies.
Jamie, are you talking to an actual person?
Durga (3609 D)

Well, PE, I'm mostly addressing ND and Brad.

At least you have the intelligence and respectfulness to be willing to reasonably discuss your position, which I will say I respect, even though I fundamentally disagree with you.
orathaic (1009 D(B))

I'm with DemonOverlord on this. Babies have been shown to be sexually transmitted, they can cause physical and mental stress, and great financial strain. Both of which are causal factors in many diseases.

Mandatory abortions should be written into govt policy asap. We must choose what is right for these unfortunate pregnant people, whether they know what is right or not!!
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))

Mandatory abortions are a waste of resources. It'd be better to let them come to term and then kill them at birth to harvest stem cells for treating sick people.
CAPT Brad (40 DX)

the death penalty is constitutionally protected too. so what jamiet.
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
16 Dec 17 UTC
i do not support the death penalty, jamiet. i have stated this before. i do not believe abortion is okay even in the event of rape. i have a half-brother because a rape. i also believe that all children deserve parents. i adopted three. all you left wing righteous bigots do is tell others what to respect but do not show respect yourselves. i have seen the real carnage of liberal 'compassion' and the ruin it makes. to you jamiet life is theory. for me it is praxis.

orathaic even in jest that is just a sick comment. there is no humor or irony in it.

Thousands of Americans die every year from car accidents too. should we lock up car owners?
Nearly 1.3 million people die in road crashes each year, on average 3,287 deaths a day. An additional 20-50 million are injured or disabled. More than half of all road traffic deaths occur among young adults ages 15-44.

Gun violence in the United States in 2013, there were 73,505 nonfatal firearm injuries (23.2 injuries per 100,000 U.S. citizens), and 33,636 deaths due to "injury by firearms"
ND (879 D)

@Brainbomb: I still don’t understand how you are allowed to talk about Conservatives the way you do. Its discrimination and cultural myopia.

@Jamiet99uk: It is not constitutionally protected. There is no amendment guaranteeing a woman’s right to an abortion. There was a supreme court case on it and it is legal because of the case, but so was slavery for years after the Dred Scott case. Hopefully we can overturn Roe V Wade like Dred Scott was overturned.
ND (879 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
More conservatives on the Supreme Court!
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Roe v. Wade actually provided a temporary allowance to allow states to determine viability. even so there was a concern of late term or third trimester abortions.
ND (879 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
You want to talk about what is really sick? Late term or third trimester abortions. People who support that are real sicko's.

Like, I don't even know what to say. How do you respond to someone who says something like that? Really makes me sad for people like that. I will pray for you.
Jamiet99uk (848 D)

Things which ND does not understand:

1. Sarcasm.
Are you sure that's the only thing he doesn't understand, Jamiet?
Jamiet99uk (848 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Please feel free to add to the list.
Jamiet99uk (848 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Oh I know.

2. How to construct sentences. I mean, look at this:

"Really makes me sad for people like that."

Is that even a sentence? Does it even? Whut?
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
16 Dec 17 UTC
what gets me is that in this world of gender non conformance and fluidity is still take a man and a woman to become pregnant. regardless of the sham of same sex marriages it still is a bi-gender act to conceive a child. if men don't matter why are there women getting pregnant and then having abortions? if men are such misogynistic pigs why are women having sex with them?
CAPT Brad (40 DX)

I think that when people have been singing the praises of both vanilla and strawberry milkshakes, the truly greatest milkshakes have fallen to the wayside. Chocolate-Peanut butter shakes are the best and you all need to see the error of your ways.

Anyone available to cancel a game?
I don't know the protocol or how often this happens, but the site crashed, and now Silent Partners-3 is back up, some countries' moves processed and others didn't. I watch all the games in this series (I have set up the games). I hope we're not expected to continue under conditions like these, but i'm open to however people usually handle this.

Resulting Fallacy
This article is about decision making in poker, but I think it equally applies to Diplomacy and well lots of other things too. I think a lot of players, including myself, fall into this trap of believing everything that works was a good decision and everything that doesn't was a bad one.

Brainstorming on getting more no-press live classic games
Arg! We had 6 for a no-press (i.e. no-chat) live game tonight, no cigar. And there haven't been a lot of no-press Many years ago, my FTF Dip crew had a similar problem ... some wanted and had time for no-press, others didn't, so we couldn't get 7 ... and we came up with a neat solution, which I'll share in a minute. But first ... anyone have advice on how we drum up support for a live no-press game?
