See above. I have thoughts on this but will save them for a little while later.

To the mods, Kestas, Zultar, all you fine people (yes, ebmvene Capt Brad and ND!) for making this a great and vibrant community

(Apparently, my phone thought covfefe was funny and now contributes embvene, which is not the name of the new Zimbabwean president)

I just spent a very unpleasant soujourn at another site where all manner of deeply distasteful things happened and that made me really appreciate this place a lot more

So, thanks!

Ogion (3882 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Really? You can quote someone saying, "Hey, you're a child molester!" or "blah, blah, blah, you child molester."

Because i'd like to see that quote.

Of course, we don't have people calling others n***r or f*gg*t, or p**sy and getting away with it
Even in the Wild West days of the forum, where you could say that kinda shit without repercussions, no one did.

Bring back the wild west days to be honest. Let people call me all the names under the sun, it'll be fun.

(And just for the record Ogion, we know you said nagger, fogget and possy. Asterisking things out doesn't help.)

Quote someone saying "Hey, you're a child molester!"? Ok them

"But being a religious person, no doubt you sneer at things like education. Don't you have some children to go molest, a gay person to through out of a building"

brainbomb (290 D)

Given your forum persona becoming increasingly pro-right wing I gotta say the question levied at you is inappropriate. However you have aligned yourself with people who seem to think that molestation is a lesser evil than a terminated pregnancy
Octavious (2802 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
@ brainbomb

In what sense? I have consistently said I am pro-choice. Consistently.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Or rather that having the fundamental belief abortion may be a necessary evil.

Molestation is never acceptable and never necessary. There will never be any argument anyone can make for molesting people having a positive influence on society

Whereas even the staunchest pro-lifers slow down at the prospect of a young rape victim needing an abortion to terminate a life-threatening pregnancy. Granted thats not all pregnancies but laws are made to protect the heinous exceptions. Think about it.
Octavious (2802 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
What exactly am I meant to be thinking about? I am anti molestation and a supporter of the UK abortion laws. Once again I have no idea what point you are making.

Mostly because Europeans aren't batshit crazy. ;)
Octavious (2802 D)

I mean, how are abortion and molestation even linked? What's the connection? What, in short, are you talking about?
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
16 Dec 17 UTC
So we are already going off the rails. Ogion make a nice post and brain taints it. Brain go back to the other one and spew over there.

No use arguing with these clowns Croak & Oct.
They proved in the other thread that they cannot handle arguments they can't easily mock and subvert with some logical fallacy.
There's nothing TO think about. NO ONE in the other thread even halfway suggested that abortion is a bigger evil than molestation. BB literally pulled that out of thin air.
Ogion (3882 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Except, Octavious, I didn't call you a child molester, I associated your holier-than-thou gays-are-making-it-up-attitude with the well documented history of child abuse in Christian circles. So, except for that that superb failure of logic, you'd have a point.

Don't be silly Ogion.

I'm very much on your side of the political spectrum, but don't be silly.

If I said "Hey Ogion how much coke did you snort today?!?" it would not be completely illogical for you to assume I was accusing you of being a cocaine user.

You implied, quite heavily, that as a religious person Octavious was a potential child molester. I think that if you did not mean to imply that, you should at least apologise.
Ogion (3882 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
Well, whether he is or not is an open question upon which I will not opine.
brainbomb (290 D)

So you guys claim that NOBODY made the argument that molestation is a lesser evil.

Explain these comments then.

@Jamiet: Trump has apologized for that statement and it has widely been acknowledged to be locker room talk. Kind of gross but no where near as bad as Hillary calling people 'Super Predators' or her silencing and covering up for her husband's sexual abuse which was proven true.

Still I vote on the issues and Trump has/had much better positions then Hillary Clinton and (((((Roy Moore should have won on the issues not on some unproven allegations from 50 years ago)))). It's a travesty what happened and it needs to be fought. People deserve due process.

((((((What really bewilders me is that people voted against a guy accused of doing something bad 50 years ago, but voted for someone who actively supports murdering little, helpless, children. That's about as downright, sick, gross, and disgusting as it gets. Makes my stomach turn just thinking about how screwed up that is.))))

eh if you disagree with these people they just spew out some vile SJW rabble and disappear. They aren't interested in having a scientific discussion or any kind of intellectual discussion. We all know that the modern Left/Cultural Marxist/Marxist left are anti-science.

They refuse to admit that a human fetus becomes a human, duh.
They buy into a hoax AKA global warming
They reject a host of other scientific issues as well.

It's pointless to really try and debate the anti-science, modern left, unfortunately. Don't expect anything less @Brad.

Basically this pivoted the conversation into a philosophical debate about doug being the inferior candidate for being pro choice. That WAS the pivot in the conversation. And then people began entertaining passionate arguments on whether abortion was right or wrong. The point was the guy molested people. Hes a sicko and a creep. This is a disgusting defense of this person. The sheer fact ND tried to change the subject implies to me he thinks doug's position on abortion is fundamentally worse than Roy Moore being a likely child molestor. He even goes as far as to use the lapse of time since alleged misconduct to justify it.

It doesnt matter how long ago it happened. Molestation is still a horrible disgusting act. It shouldnt be watered down. It shouldnt be ignored because of time lapse. Its sick. Hes clearly attempting to claim abortion is worse than molestation.

You make it so easy bb, why?
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
If you cant understand why this defense of moore is disgusting by ND then you dont belong in the category of rational thinking. Regardless of your political leanings. Victims should never be treated like liars. The current wave of people coming out with stories of abuse is unprecedented. Its hit all political sides, its hit celebs, its hit the rich and powerful. Trump had multiple women who were victims come forward describing his misconduct. Moore had caused life-long psychological problems to numerous victims. How in gods name can anyone with a shred of decency come out swining in his defense like that? You gotta be some rush limbaugh bitch to try making that defense
brainbomb (290 D)

Eden if you cant see the OBVIOUS pivot, the obvious defense, the obvious attempt to paint the winner as the truer evil then you are not the rational debater you claim to be.

This article is about decision making in poker, but I think it equally applies to Diplomacy and well lots of other things too. I think a lot of players, including myself, fall into this trap of believing everything that works was a good decision and everything that doesn't was a bad one.

Brainstorming on getting more no-press live classic games
Arg! We had 6 for a no-press (i.e. no-chat) live game tonight, no cigar. And there haven't been a lot of no-press Many years ago, my FTF Dip crew had a similar problem ... some wanted and had time for no-press, others didn't, so we couldn't get 7 ... and we came up with a neat solution, which I'll share in a minute. But first ... anyone have advice on how we drum up support for a live no-press game?
