##ATTENTION##
Hello all,
Just some clarification on the role of a mentor and how to avoid meta gaming if that is a concern. Generally your role as a mentor will be to provide insight to your apprentices on how to improve their play. This can be done passively by waiting for them to request your help or actively by spectating their games and commenting as the game progresses. Some other ideas include setting up games with other mentors so that you can guarantee your apprentices a mid/high quality experience to learn in. However, your level of commitment is completely up to you.
A note about metagaming: After consulting a webDip Historian and a lawyer I have been assured that giving advice on games you aren’t a part of is not a form of metagaming. However, remember it is ethically wrong and not advised to directly suggest moves to your apprentices. Conversations can lead your apprentices to some conclusions but you shouldn’t be playing their games for them. Make them think.
In addition some best practices to avoid metagaming:
- Ask for the Game ID before your apprentice notifies you of their country assignment and question. If you are in the same game then you can notify your apprentice.
- When in doubt send an email to
[email protected] and we will do our best to respond to any and all inquiries.
