When I go to football games, I dont go for the game. Im there for the anthem. Im there to see what direction the flag blows. When I see that flag - made in taiwan - blowing in the global warming breeze, I remove my hat and think Fuck yes, this is the shit.

NFL shot itself in the foot by accepting money from the Department of Defense to compel teams to show up for the national anthem. DoD under Dubya needed to amp up the jingoism during a fatally flawed military campaign that we're still fighting a decade later.

When I think of American Exceptionalism, I think of pulling random quotes out if my ass to support my worldview.
