"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

I think that's gonna be a nightmare to coordinate and isn't worth it.
@ y2 -- see my message above. I want to keep all the players who have signed up in and we can do that with 5 D games.

Players who want to up the ante can bet into a pool. This pool will be distributed to the winner, assuming the winner bought in. I will give a bigger update around this later.

There is no need to discuss what yebellz has said because it doesn't matter. We have been given our constraint and I will adjust the tournament to comrpomise between letting all players participate and keeping a good payout for the winner.

All that really needs to be determined is the bet for the "side pot" and what happens is a player like AlexNesta or JesusPetry wins (which could happen, they are both great but have limited points).

Suggestions on these two fronts are welcome. I would say since only certain players can bet anyway we go with a 600 D buy-in on the side pot, assuming 15 people can afford it that is a 9000 D payout which is actually higher than before.

To do a side pot there were have to be clear definition of how to "rank" performance, which I believe Lando has planned out.

So there would be some that are just playing with 5 bets, if you win, you get the what you got out of the games, and bragging rights.

If Czech, Josunice, and I bet 500 and I finish in 3rd but the 2 ppl ahead of me paid nothing I get their 500s plus anyone else that bet anything lower than me. If Split and Lando bet 1000 and finsihed 4th and 7th respectively, they would each lose 500 to me and then Lando would lose 500 to Split. Just like a poker side pot, you could set a restriction that there will be no payouts to those not making the finals, in which case if Split and Lando didn't make the finals they would still lose 500 each to me but 500 would be returned b/c neither of them earned a payout. It would be very convuluted - perhaps set a couple benchmarks, the 100, 500, and 1000 clubs to make it easier.
That still seems complicated, Gen.

My suggestion: 600 D buy-ins for those who wish. If one of those players wins they get the 600 x N D where N is number of players who bet. In the case a player who didn't not bet wins, then, I would suggest that the pot is then split among the finalists who did bet on a even basis.

We also need to have committment from those who are betting for before the games begin.

To summarize:

1. Entry fee for the tournament is 5 D per round.

2. Players wishing to bet more will put a pre-determined amount into a "side pot".

3. The winner of the tournament will win the side pot; the exception being if the winner did not put into the side pot, in which case the winner of that pot would be second place, and so on, provided he anted.

Did I get everything there?
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
05 Feb 13 UTC
sounds like if the winner did not bet, the pot is split evenly between final table members that did bet. Sounds good to me.

I've got 600 D. I'll be interested to see who will throw down that much.
@2nd - 5 D per game, 35 per round.

Also see my update for if a winner did not bet.

What happened to the 100 per person side bet? Most people on that list can't afford 600.
Gen. Lee (7588 D(B))
05 Feb 13 UTC
time for a side-side pot :D

How about this:
-5 per game played, no pot to win
-100 ante, same rules as Lando stated, if someone in the 100 pot wins they get entire 100 pot if not the 100 pot is split among finalist in the 100 pot.
-600 ante, if someone in the 600 pot wins they get entire 600 pot if not its split among finalist in the 600 pot.
If a player wanted to enter both, they can for 700, but they are graded and paid out as if completely separate Hmm but what if nobody from the 100 pot makes the finals or nobody from the 600 pot makes the finals. heh, What are the chances...

y2kjbk (4846 D(G))
05 Feb 13 UTC
I'd be down for 600, but let's keep it at 100 to allow more people to contribute. I'd also rather not lock up too many points for this tourney as I think about it.
jimgov (219 D(B))
05 Feb 13 UTC
I think that everybody should do the original 100. Makes it interesting. If others want to put other points on it, and the mods allow it, then have a ball. But I don't want to play with people who did not put anything into the pot. They really have nothing to play for and, as with poker, if you aren't really playing for anything you can play like an idiot.
I will PM everyone tonight to get the process of starting this going.

We cannot have everyone bet, unfortuantely, unless we plan on cutting out about 10 people and waiting for a new ten. The system has been set. We can still talk about a buy-in for those who are betting.
Initial groupings will be as follows:

Group A: Split, gen. lee, stressedlines, trooth, yebellz, brianofboru, Chaqa
Group B: Czech, ava, fulhamish, bo_sox, pjmansfield, josunice, Speakertoaliance
Group C: CSteinhardt, fairfax, jesuspetry, alexnesta, Your Humble Narrator, y2kbtk, Draugnar
Group D: Lando, 2ndwhiteline, nigeebaby, jcbryan, jimgov, rdrivera, the ministerofwar

Please PM me ASAP re: bet.
Please keep posting if you are interested. There may be some more spots available.

Y2Kjkwhatever and I work for the same employer (although not for long -- I gave my notice lol)

Does that matter to you? We have coexisted in the 17/17 world tourney and there is no risk of meta or anything as he is a robotic killing machine, much like the T2 cop. But that's why I have not joined so far.
I'm OK with that. I have played gunboats with a real-life friend and it has never been an issue.

You'll be in bo_sox spot so different group for first round anyway.

IPCC finally admits that it was lying to us all
