Conquer by retreat?
On this server, can you retreat on an enemy's territory, i.e. conquer by retreating? That was never allowed in the games I've played elsewhere, but it seems so here.

Convoy didn't get cut
In Spring 1903 of "Round 2", my (Austrian) fleet hit Italy's fleet while it was convoying an army. Shouldn't that have cut the convoy?

The Commonwealth would prefer to advance in the north, dear Kaiser, than to keep a territory on the European mainland that is relatively worthless to it strategically. On the morrow, good chap.

To the Kaiser of Germany:
It appears you will not get this message tonight, so we are content to hold Belgium and you to take Sweden for the time being, although we would request a trade next year, as a German occupied Sweden makes our troop movements... awkward.

To the Prime Minister:

Germany is wondering why you find the Reich's occpation of Sweden an awkward thing. May we remind you that supply lines to StPete can easily be run through Norway and Finland? However, if you want the zone demilitarized we are happy to remove our garrison. And perhaps still, a trade could be arranged.

@ France: German troops have managed to get hold of Tyrolia. If you need any support please tell us.
rlumley (0 DX)

From the Office of Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of England:

It is not necessarily that it makes the logistics of our troop movements awkward, but rather that having my troops constantly marching by your center puts distrust into a relationship that Her Majesty values very highly, just as your troops on the border of Belgium for so long made us uneasy.

This being said, it would set one of your armies back two years to recapture Belgium, so perhaps it is best to simply leave the territories as they are.

On another note, we would like to propose that our navy participate in joint military ventures with your military in Denmark as to prevent a Russian retreat there.

We also recommend that your army in Livonia works on capturing Warsaw, as English troops have St. Petersburg surrounded. It will fall in the spring.

Now, it's the top of the hour, time for the top of the news.

I'm Michael McBride with English Radio, your number one source for news.

Well, it's election day, and we'll be here all day, giving you the results as we get them. Polls opened approximately two hours ago, but exit polls are showing Labour with a strong lead in most districts. We remind you that these results may be unreliable, but at this time, the results appear to be statistically significant.

Check back later for more news.

@ England: it's getting a bit of a meta-discussion (again) but I think a German stay in Sweden is more trustworthy than England owning it. Now Germany has both SWE and DEN, but with an English unit in SWE and probably a fleet in NTH that poses a constant threat for Germany. Ofcourse, another option would be England owning Sweden but leaving it empty as Germany will in Denmark.

We'll see, and Belgium can always be traded. I will use my forces to free Poland.

From the Office of Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of England:

As we said, it is probably counterproductive to swap territories at this point, as it would not serve the interests of the German army. You may be assured, however, that if England governed Sweden, there would not be a military garrison there. Ultimately, as you are the one the swap would delay, we suggest that you make the final decision.

Now, it's the top of the hour, time for the top of the news.

I'm Michael McBride with English Radio, your number one source for news.

Despite our previous announcement about exit polling data leaning heavily towards the Labour party, the official results are in for two districts. The traditionally conservative district of Edinburgh has actually gone to Labour by a slim margin, where Clyde has gone Conservative, again by a slim margin. The polls have also closed in Ireland, and we are projecting that Ireland will go Labour based on exit polling data, but we stress that these are not official results.

We'll keep you posted with results as we get them.
Thank you for your offer of help friend Germany. Support into Venice would be most appreciated.

Now, it's the top of the hour, time for the top of the news.

I'm Michael McBride with English Radio, your number one source for news.

Well, over the night we got all of the election results in. It seems that the Conservative Party has won in a very slim margin in the rest of the parliamentary districts. We now go to Ryan Turner for analysis. What does all this mean Ryan?

Well Michael, what it means basically is that the Conservative party isn't going to be able to do all of what they planned on. They may have to make some domestic sacrifices to push their foreign policy agenda. Their anti-Russian stance may be pretty easy to push, with all the distrust of Russia, but their other stances, well who knows? I wouldn't be looking for them to start any more wars though - the domestic front just wouldn't hold up.

Thanks Ryan. That's all the time we have for now, be sure to check back later for more news.

Hey Germany :D

Glad to see you hopping by for a visit. I'm sad to see you guys going nanners over my territories as I do like them green as they are.

So because of this, I am hoping Turkey would be able to take the Tyrannian sea with support from my brand spanking new fleet in Rome This way, I can take Tunis and we will start pushing them back and I in that case would help you take the first french territory. I think I will be able to hold against the German front as I can easily take back Tyrolia and then push possibly into German territory, or at least until he stops his aggression towards me.

Dearest Turkey...Why not use your fleet in the Ionian for good and not for evil?

Join the Anglo-Saxon coalition, and help us crush the Italians. I promise you a fair share of the spoils of the Rome.

Right now, your former ally Russia is weak, and your other ally Italy will not be able to hold back the tide of the French and German forces.

Your fleet in the Ionian could be the difference between nothing but Italy's thanks, or Italian and Austrian Supply Centers.

Italy I will agree to go into the tyrannian sea and help you against a french armada. Support to Budapest is exchanged for this help . from serbia.

From the Office of Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of England:

To the Sultan of Turkey:
We hope that you see the wisdom in the French words. Historically, your people have been a proud people, yet you have allied yourself with common thugs and tyrants. Her Majesty hopes that you see the wisdom in peace, and use your forces, as Germany, France and England have, for peace, not for war.

Should you continue in the tyrannical nature of your allies and refuse this offer of peace, the English, German, and French forces will not be able to stop at your border at the inevietable moment that we reach it.

To the Prime Minister of England:
I would like to start by saying that this move into The Tyrannian sea is not an offensive move it is Definsive. I dont like the Idea of a franch armada taking over Italy and Knocking on my doorstep. I wouldnt mind (after fighting through Russia helping you to sTP or what not. i do not want to fight "The strongest alliance" but if moving into the Tyrannian sea is a move that is to stong for you then prepare for war. I do not want to fight but if it means war, it means war!!!!!
My dear Sultan, what are you gaining out of helping Italy? Budapest is unprotected, you need no support in. However, by throwing yourself in with Italy's lot you may make a lot of powerful enemies. You gain nothing from helping Italy, and you lose a lot.

By the way, you know what else is unprotected? Naples and Tunis.
bishopofRome (0 DX)

Italy is now my ally. end of story. the only country that i plan on fighting now is Russia. I do not care if Italy is a pirate or scoundrel or whatever you called him. Me snd this Pirate will make a nice team if you guys want to engage war. as i have said i do not wish to engage war just creating a barrier between france and myself. I would be happy to help either Germany or england to take Warsaw and StP (if you dont get it yourselfs)

Btw Turkey, I can regain tyrolia, hold venice and hold rome with your help and get you into spain/portugal, consider budapest yours, and if I do fall on teh brink of destruction, I will support you into my territories lest it fall into the french.

I really don't get why they trust England so much though, It has been proven statistically that in order for him to win, one of them gets betrayed...

GERMANY:

With weary eyes we watch at the destruction of the Austrian Empire. Ah, if only the Emperor had listened to his nephew. As Vienna is taken, what was left of government has collapsed and choas reigns on the Hungarian plateau. Fear is the Turks will try to conquer these lands again, which had led to panic under civilians. If only the Reich could support the last fleet under Admiral von Tegetthoff...

To our French friends: as Germany has little interest in being lured in some war around Venice, we are somewhat hesitant. However, since Italy has made threats we will actually be supporting your troops. Take in account that most likely German troops will be attacked and thus will be defending the Tyrolian hills.

To the Prime Minister of England: a joint military practice will no longer be neccessary on Denmark. We will retreat our fleet out of Sweden into Denmark to create a less awkward situation. While German forces are busy freeing the Poles a possible support could be offered to Her Majesty's troops into Moscow. Ofcourse, this depends on Russian troop movements.

Meta: Curly did you even look at my history before you said that? That's laughable to propose. I almost blatantly refuse to stab, because people like you will look at my profile and judge me on it.

I may have always fought Germany or France as England, but I made no delusions about it and fought them from the beginning.

From the Office of Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of England:

To the Kaiser of Germany:

We would appreciate your offer, but let us see where the fall leads us. We will discuss such matters in the fall. Until then, I suggest you us your army in Livonia for other purposes, since it is unneeded in the liberation of St. Petersburg.
xcurlyxfries (0 DX)

Meta: the majority of all diplomacy games, those 3 countries more then 75% of the time always have conflicts.

to Germany, we made no threats, we just informed of our defensive maneuvers due to your aggression towards us. We have no conflict with you as has been shown before when we had occupied Tyrolia.

Admin/Mod,

- it would have opposed Russian fleet which I seen no support that beat holland please advise.
This is at least the second time I KNOW I submitted orders and they didn't work (updated, finalized). Other time was a French fleet not produced (3rd build of 3 allowed) on another map.
