Playing with less than 7?
Does anyone know if we are able to play a game with less than 7 people? And if we can, does anyone know how we go about doing that? Our current game will only start if we have 7.

Western Meddling in Iranian Protests
So this is great and all. Encouraging protests and stuff. Um didnt this happen in Iran in Arab Spring too? When people start dying were gonna look pretty bad again. Like we encouraged a coup but didnt actually care about the consequences.

I've created a Discord Server to make it easier to coordinate future games and chat about ongoing ones (that allow press). I checked with one of the mods first to make sure it was okay to set up. Here's the link: https://discord.gg/5WpVw29

Fewer live classic games these days?
Looking back through the last couple months' completed games, it feels like there are far fewer Classic live games than there were a few years ago. Do other people have the same feeling?

I would assume that 'head to head' means "head to head among those involved in the tie".

Who needs tiebreakers when you can just win eh
Hellenic Riot (1626 D(G))
21 Nov 17 UTC
Knockout stage tiebreakers country draws will be entirely random.

For group stage tiebreakers, the number of Austria wins in a head to head record does indeed only come into account if there are more than two people in the tie.

People should try clicking the ready button, it's fun.
The good part of facing Xorxes in the group stage is that you won't face him in the next round (the bad part is that there is only one spot left in the group).

Only two games left:

gameID=210647
gameID=210651

Both interesting games, but neither result will change their group standings.
I see two games which should be over already.

No, seriously, there's no changing the outcomes of those

I have missed two 50/50 chances to win the other game vs. SvKris :O
I end as the best 3rd, with points that would have given me the 2nd spot in half of the groups. :-p

“In the Round of 16, the group winners will be seeded”

Does anyone understand the seeding for the Round of 16?
Jeff Kuta (2066 D)
11 Dec 17 UTC
Group winners seeded and paired against group runners-up, but not from same group.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
11 Dec 17 UTC
But how were they seeded? Perhaps I looked too quickly, but I saw only four group winners that won all of their first round games, yet 3 are on one side of the bracket while only one is on the other side of the bracket, that suggests the seeding was not based on first round results (which I would have guessed, though it was never stated, and now I’m curious enough to ask)...
Yoyoyozo (95 D)
11 Dec 17 UTC
@MadMarx
Winners are paired with runner ups randomly. That's the seeding. 1st in one group with 2nd in the other.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
11 Dec 17 UTC
I also would have guessed that xorxes would have been in the #1 slot in the bracket link recently posted, but goldie was there...
CptMike (4457 D)
11 Dec 17 UTC
I think it was pre-determined.

* Winner A vs Second B
* Winner B vs Second A

Then resorting according to the winner :

A -> 1
B -> 5 (ie, 1 of 2nd half of the table)

etc.
.

MadMarx (36299 D(G))
11 Dec 17 UTC
Perhaps I’ve run too many Marx Madness NCAA basketball pools, I expect the bracket to have a #1 seed in line to play a #8 seed in the next round even if teams #9 through #16 are all unranked and randomly assigned to play against the #1 through #8 seeds...
ghug (5068 D(B))
11 Dec 17 UTC
I believe the idea is to mirror the European soccer tournament of the same name. They can't really compare teams across leagues, so their seeding is randomized in the initial draw.
MadMarx (36299 D(G))
11 Dec 17 UTC
It makes sense, now that it’s been explained, just wasn’t the first thought that popped into my aging sleep-deprived head...
