Food - Accounts for daily meals, basic drinking water, and basic water for cooking purposes. Water based beverages, ect. Each phase the ship consumes an amount of food and water equal to the population. 3 pop eats 3 food. There can be exceptions, obesity, greed and colony corruptions can influence eating habits.

Health - indicates both public health, running water/plumbing, and water needed for basic farming. There can be exceltions if some asshole leaves his sink running.

Suffice it to say the ship produces water through an advanced process of burning hydrogen which causes percolation. Natural water is infinitely produced by this process created in the early 21st century.

Thank you for the information brainbot. Now that we know our ship and all food production includes water, I urge settling on Verbosy86T with a biodome. The fact we know there is alien life there that could speed along our technological advances and that Verbosy86T is so rich in minerals and other valuable ore means the reward is worth the risk.

Those risks of things going wrong could also happen en route to the other planets which are much further away. Personally I think it would be easier to deal with and fix problems that pop up while on a planetary facility vice a spaceship.

Our resources during travel are much more limited than they will be once we can establish a full colony.

Let's do a pro v con quick:

Verbosy: Pro= Ore, closer, alien life?. Con= Food, lack of atmosphere, need for biodome, alien life?

Alien Life does not equal friendly life.

What if we go therer spend our tech on a bio dome, then find the aliens are hostile and for more established. We become a landing force ill equipped to both survive and defend.

Sure we could find hostile aliens on Ynbar but atleast we won't have spent our resources on a biodome, and can survive without one. This means we could live off the land and from our ship if need be. Further by teaming with Space X we get a vehicle of some sort which we could use to get to water or one of the sparsely scattered jungles. There is just more to work with, considering ore is not as vital for survival as food, or defense. We can scrap by at first with small amounts of metal and then develop trade or an advanced mining operation. Further, the time traveling should be reduced by our advanced rockets and we should have no problem defending ourselves with advanced weaponry.

All im saying is Ynbar provides the safety net of being ecologically similar to some parts of earth. Meaning our equipment, scientific knowledge and survival ability is stronger. We know we can hunt if there are animals, fish for whatever life is in the water, build shelter from the plants and rocks. It's a no brainer.

If we go with spaceX we will already be equipped with weapons if they are hostile toward us, but I think we could very well negotiate with them prior to even landing. Hell, we could stop there, attempt to negotiate a landing and if they say no, move on to the next planet.

The distance between Earth and Verbosy is A, The distance between Verbosy and Ynbar is B and the distance between Earth and Ynbar is C.

So A= 3 , B= ? , and C = 6

3^2 + B^2 = 6^2

meaning B = 5.2

but we arent done.

Now we would travel all the way to Verbosy which is a distance of 3 then all the way to Ynbar which would be a distance of 5.2. So 3+5.2= 8.2

so you just admitted your back up plan is to travel an extra 0.2 distance than the furthest option....

So your plan A is show up on an inhospitable planet after throwing our resources into a biodome, to hope the aliens are friendly simply because you dont like long rides?

Then your plan B is to scrap plan A entirely and travel the furthest possible distance?

All of that just for some ore?? We can develop advanced mining if we need too. We can SURVIVE on Ynbar long enough to THRIVE on Ynbar....

agree that a more hospitable planet outweighs the additional resources. Maybe we can one day even expand our new colony to other planets - including Verbosy - with a mining settlement etc.

This is assuming that the three points form a right triangle, which in all reality is just as likely as verbosy being directly in line with earth and ynbar, this meaning the trip would be 3 to verbosy, should we fail at negotiating landing we could more than likely still conduct trade, leave verbosy to ynbar which is now only 3 fuel away.

@tweeters- its actually much more likely that it's a right triangle since there are 4 options that produce that outcome and only 1 in which your option is true. I actually am more fair than the true math since this should be the average of the outcomes of picking 2 random points in a sphere and connecting them to the epicenter. In that case i am ignoring the even stronger probability that the points form an obtuse triangle that would increase the hypotenuse to levels as far out as 8 distance + 3 distance.

regardless you havent fleshed out a short-term survival plan that works... you are selling a dream.... which will quickly become a nightmare.
