Live and Let Live
I was typing a brief response to the post below about being 'trans' when I refreshed and found that the thread was locked. It was locked with a really great post from Jmo, so thanks for that. The video itself wasn't really that funny or clever, and was laughing at not with, without any sense of awareness; but I take it that that video is a closed issue, so I just wanted to add:

Interesting things about the D1 Votes:
* Espi had three votes on him at the end of the day. Two of those people are now dead. DL also declared Espi scum briefly before he died. Might not mean anything, but it's an interesting coincidence.
* guak and Espi had good reason to jump on Balki, because it furthered their objectives whether they were town or mafia. ND and bo, I still maintain, killed Balki on very flimsy evidence.
* TrPrado had good reason to vote for Balki too, and would have been excused for doing so, but he didn't.
* Yoyo didn't vote. Considering that votes give mafia a free kill (especially on D1), if Yoyo were mafia he would have a lot of incentive to vote, even if he weren't following the current discussion -- or at least to let an old vote stand. To add to that, I agree with Balki's assessment that Yoyo is probably town if Espi is. To those claiming that Yoyo is faking illness, that just makes him see even more innocent in my eyes.

I still haven't seen anything to suggest conclusively one way or the other for Espi. Balki seemed to think he was guilty, but Balki had no way of knowing, and I think his case against Espi was flimsy from the start.

ND points out that one of the people who voted for Balki is probably mafia. Seems like an odd strategy for mafia, so I'm raising his chances of being town. Still tied for last, but now at least he's tied.

As for Jeff, I haven't seen anything to suggest to me that he's anything other than town.

Odds of people being town:
Yoyo - 85%
Jeff - 75%
Espi - 70%
guak - 70%
TrPrado - 70%
phil - 70%
Lucland - 70%
captain/america - 70%
bo - 60%
ND - 60%

Although ND is still on the bottom of my list, we don't have enough information about anyone to vote for anyone on the chances of them being mafia.

Since there's been more discussion of lynching Espi than any other person so far, I think we'd get the most information from that lynch, although I still think that the odds are good that he's town. He's also on ND's list of potential mafia, ND puts the odds of Espi mafia at 25%, and I say 30%. Far from overwhelming evidence -- in fact, I still don't think there's any evidence. But whether town or mafia, his death will give us evidence, and I think most people will agree with me on that. ##VOTE Espi
TrPrado (461 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
Wait, so you start with the assumption that everyone is town?
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
There are ten suspects from my perspective, and three mafia. That means that everyone starts with 7/10 odds -- 70%.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
"guak and Espi had good reason to jump on Balki, because it furthered their objectives whether they were town or mafia."

Explain this. If they were town, how did it help them? Also, what reason did Tr have to vote for Balki?

Also, voting for the player who we have discussed the most is a great way to slip under the cracks when it comes to scumhunting and when it comes to getting questioned for your votes later. If your percentages aren't completely meaningless, you should either be voting for ND or myself at this stage if anyone.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Also, if ND is, by your own admission, less likely mafia than me because he suggested "an odd strategy for mafia," why is he tied with me as least likely town? Why aren't I flying solo?
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
##VOTE Saladin. He not only tried to tie the vote, but now produces that bogus list of reads and votes for his 3rd highest townread! Wtf is that?
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@bo: I think Saladin means that since Espi and I were on the block by voting Balki we were saving ourselves. That is why he says Tr would had also had a good reason to vote Balki.
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@bo - Because both of them were at risk of being lynched themselves. At that point, if they were town, they were choosing between saving themselves (100% town) and saving Balki (75% town). Statistically, if they were town, they made the right choice.

Yes, I think it's more likely that you and ND are scum, but if Espi dies we have around 30 pages of discussion about lynching Espi to work from, whereas there's a small fraction of that from either of you. Knowing Espi's role will tell us something about every single person in this game.
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
Also, @Saladin your analysis on Yoyo is entirely dependent on who was on the block. If all of us with a chance to die were townies, then mafia Yoyo had zero incentive to vote and associate himself with any of the lynches.
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@guak - Espi is also my third lowest townread.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
@guak ... that's not a good reason to vote for someone as town. That's a great reason to vote for someone as mafia. If you're town and you're on the block, you should still be going for scum. The only reason you have to go for someone else simply to survive is if there's only two candidates, but in this case, there were four, so you don't just get a free pass because you were helping yourself survive. You still could have hit scum if someone else in that group is scum.
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@Saladin: still, you should be voting for your #1 or #2 scum reads. Definitely not for #3 this early in the phase.
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@bo: I never said I voted for Balki to survive. I couldn't have cared less if I survived or not. I thought Balki was scum. It is Saladin who is making said conjecture.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Saladin, he's your third and eighth lowest townread. If you're going by your own logic and not just following the crowd, you're voting either me or ND. As things are, you're following the crowd, jumping on a wagon that's already been created and one that you won't be held responsible for, and justifying it by saying that that's how we'll get the most information. Fuck that, we need scum.

Also, as I said, jumping to someone to save yourself is only a free pass as town if you only have one other lynch candidate to jump to. The odds that someone else in that group of candidates is scum are pretty high, and they could have jumped there. On top of that, you have no idea if they were trying to survive because they are town or because they are mafia. It's total WIFOM, and yet you're using it as your entire justification.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Fair enough, guak.

I asked on the last page - why did you think you were gonna get NKed?
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@guak - I don't think that ND and bo are both scum. If we killed one of them and they turned out to be scum, that would tell us very little about everyone else, except that the other person low on my list would rise significantly. It would basically be worse than 50% odds of hitting scum, and it would tell us next to nothing.

Lynching Espi is a 30% chance of hitting scum -- not great odds, but it tells us a little about absolutely everyone, and gives us all more accurate reads, giving the next lynch significantly better odds.

In the short run, lynching Espi is worse, but in the long run, it more than makes up for it.
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
I am pretty sure I answered that question a while ago bo. I just felt that TrPrado wanted me dead and I am pretty sure he is scum.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Yeah, no it doesn't. Vote for a scumread. Make your case. Convince us. You have done a pathetic job of that so far.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Guak, wouldn't you think that he would leave you alive if he were scum so as to not immediately incriminate himself? Killing you and seeing you flip town would put all the suspicion right back on him, which would suck because the attention went elsewhere during the night, did it not?
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
What exactly does everyone think that the death of Espi will tell us? I am inclined to believe that it will tell us absolutely nothing. Over 90% of the people here are saying they think he is scum. The only one who has not said so is me. And knowing that I am town, that tells me that if Espi is scum then his teammates are bussing him and that if he is town we will have learned absolutely nothing from his death since everyone has been suspecting him all along.

What I can tell for sure is this: having multiple wagons near endgame only helps mafia. We need to consolidate our votes around one or two targets. That is the only way we will be able to get coherent EoD vote analyses instead of the chaos we got from D1.
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
I've presented things the way that I see them, and I'm not changing my viewpoint to make myself more popular. I believe that Espi is the best choice right now, and I'm sticking with it.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
All right, SS, so you're gonna be useless today too. Got it.
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@bo: of course that is possible, but he could had gotten away with it for sure. It would not be the first time I am killed to be silenced and no one picks up my torch. Happened last two games with wjessop.
ND (879 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@saladin where did you get your statistics from for example why is yoyo at 85% town?
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
What's most frustrating about this game is that noobs apparently have no interest in learning how to play the game. Looks like they just came in with pre-formed opinions and are unwilling to understand the reasoning behind this game.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
15 Aug 15 UTC
Don't worry about it too much guak, he's town. Have you seen my case on Jeff?
guak (3381 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
People I am willing to vote for today, based on information up to this point:

phil (case coming)
SS (not pursuing his top scum reads)
TrPrado (old case)
Jeff Kuta (case coming)

I think two of these 4 are likely mafia with the third party being a lurker a la Yoyo, Luc or meme.
SaladinSmith (100 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
@ND - they're not hard statistics or anything, just my way of doing townreads in a way that I feel presents more information than "slight town/slight scum". The statistics do add up to 700%, which is what they should -- if I think someone is likely to be scum, that makes someone else less likely to.

Yoyo is 85% for not driving hard to have someone killed, for not buying into that whole "Espi is scum" thing, and for not voting for a lynch, when voting for a lynch would benefit mafia.
Espi (338 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
There was a good point made, the Night Kill and DL, who has been going after me for some time. Does that mean I am either Mafia getting bussed, or the Mafia prefer people to be focusing on me and not on others?
TrPrado (461 D)
15 Aug 15 UTC
Okay, I just thought of something. Before the Espi wagon gets going. So, we all (except guak) have agreed that an Espi lynch could provide some information. What information? Well, that depends. Almost everyone is trying to pin Espi to some scum team. Almost everyone who has guessed at the scum team has had Espi as a common denominator. So we each would take out possibly information from the lynch if he flips scum. I think we should keep that in mind a bit as we go on through the day.

ArmyandFleet - cancelled
I was just in a anon. game that got cancelled - after many, many turns. At last we (the big majority of players) succeeded in getting 1 player to vote cancel.
My question is, is there any way in getting to know who played in that game, now that it is cancelled?

PS: I was Russia.
