Update for Intro?
I've noticed in games people moving into a supply center, and then moving out before builds phase. I feel like there should be an update in the WebDip intro properly explaining how the seasons/phases work, because it seems like every newbie messes it up.

Campfire Songs
Some of you are definitely not the people to ask, but I'm asking anyway... what are some good campfire/bonfire/whatever songs? The internet is really cliche on this top-priority issue in my life.

ArmyandFleet - cancelled
I was just in a anon. game that got cancelled - after many, many turns. At last we (the big majority of players) succeeded in getting 1 player to vote cancel.
My question is, is there any way in getting to know who played in that game, now that it is cancelled?

PS: I was Russia.

Unlikely percentages or Bad Luck on Computer Draw
I am sure I am not the only one who suffered from this but as I drew Italy for the 4th time in 5 classic games this summer I thought I would hear about others with similar strings of playing the same country. I have only played about 10 classic games from the start since I joined and even that is well above average percentages.

Playdip is like another country
They do things differently there.

One thing in particular I have found rather disturbing, and I'd be interested in hearing what the rest of you think about it.
Octavious (2802 D)

To cut a long story short, I had found myself in a Western Triple that formed to counter a Juggernaut. We were winning (obviously, as the WT contained a webDipper) and had reached what I was expecting to be the interesting stage when Turkey, who was still a significant power, would start using any means necessary to destabilise the WT and cause its collapse.

Instead, I got this in global:

Admin: Turkey proposes draw between ENGLAND, GERMANY & FRANCE.

Surrender?!? Not only that, but a capitulation that robs us of an interesting end game! Can I invite you all to join me in 5 minutes of collective rage directed at our neighbours who clearly have no understanding of the soul of the game, or am I making a fuss about nothing?
Octavious (2802 D)

In case I have not made it clear, Turkey proposed a draw that did not include Turkey, nor his ally. Apparently that sort of thing is possible there.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)
26 Aug 15 UTC
Seems like a legitimate diplomatic tactic to me- break the alliance, or get the boring result.

If you vote it down, is it public information?

I'm personally not in favour of being able to vote yourself out of the draw- as you point out, it creates different results to what would happen if you played on.

Also what crazy world is this, in which there is an EFG and Turkey isn't really pleased?
Atheos (0 DX)

This is just like real life face to face cons. You can vote yourself out of draws at Dixiecon. You can't, at Tempest or Weasle Moot.
VillageIdiot (7813 D)

Common tactic there intended to cause dissension among an alliance. Do you accept and risk getting saddled with a draw you know you could do better then? Reject/ignore and out yourself as an over-ambitious non-team player? Just one more strategic layer you need to navigate.

Secret draws have helped circumvent this risk, but if you don't choose your games carefully you could get painted into a corner like this.
thorfi (1023 D)
26 Aug 15 UTC
Voting yourself out of a draw is "odd" as far as rulebook goes, too. Players with pieces on board all share equally in draws. But - players clearly may "leave the game" prior to that point, resulting in their pieces being in civil disorder. (Rulebook says you probably should plan what to do in advance regarding whether you allow replacements or not, but doesn't specify either way.)

So I guess proposing a draw that doesn't include yourself is some weird halfway house hybrid between "I quit the game" and "draw between everyone else".

I think it's odd - I'd rather just have an actual "I resign the game my pieces are in civil disorder" button than that.

I played playdip a little before I went here. I got pointed in that direction exactly because of the possibility to draw in all sorts of ways. I went to webdip because the way of putting in orders is way better.

All to often online games get broken because of CD's that wouldn't happen in the same amount as in IRL. CD's are never fair and they disrupt the balance of the game that is being played. The possibility for draws without all alive players makes it possible to acknowledge who should be in a draw when CD's happens.

It also ensures that it's not just about who have most available time to play, when games a dragged out into infinity.

But of course it also have backsides. It makes it possible to make draws that don't have anything to do with the board other than the amount of SC's demanded for it.
A_Tin_Can (2234 D)

CDed powers are never included in the draw here at webdip either. Or did you mean "I know Italy CDed, but it's clear that Austria was going to die if we played on. Let's draw without him"?

Wouldn't Russia just shut down that vote for you?
BFG (100 D)
26 Aug 15 UTC
No Russia would go silent and let the western triple bicker among themselves. This tactic is to try and separate the care bears from the sharks. Sadly there are too many care bears on play dip - currently trying to shift them over here on the basis that it's free and doesn't cost so much for when they do get brutally stabbed

It could also be a "cultural" thing. A while ago I played DroidDippy and found players more likely to commit to game long alliances even if it comes to a 2player draw! If that is common over at PlayDip, I could see the rationale behind Turkey's proposal. Why waste the time? Having said that I prefer the WTA matches here as that is much less common.

I don't always play on PlayDip

but when I do, I make sure it's DIAS
Valis2501 (2850 D(G))
26 Aug 15 UTC
I mean, the point of non-DIAS is that you don't waste 2 years and emotion cutting out that 2-center non-essential power. I think I've heard of systems where you can't not-propose yourself if you're at or above a certain amount of centers before, which makes a shit ton more sense.

I'm designing a board game and wondering about the production side..
I can't produce everything myself of course, but I do want to have as much control as possible and make it 'my' enterprise rather than giving the design to someone who takes care of everything while I'm getting a part of the profit.
I do need some professional stuff to really get it off the ground, though. No clue how to go about this. Approach the nearest board game store and get information there?
