Live and Let Live
I was typing a brief response to the post below about being 'trans' when I refreshed and found that the thread was locked. It was locked with a really great post from Jmo, so thanks for that. The video itself wasn't really that funny or clever, and was laughing at not with, without any sense of awareness; but I take it that that video is a closed issue, so I just wanted to add:

1. please explain your reads in more depth.
2. Why is guak scummy?
3. Why did you only answer questions people posed to him during his reread, instead of, you know, looking for scum?

Let's avoid only looking at people who actually voted Balki. I know I am complicit in this regard, but while analysis of the wagon is relevant, not only are there other people you can analyze with it, Balki being lynched is by far not the only thing that happened today. If the wagon is scummy, it was because it was saving someone, not because it had a town target. Anyone who was a serious target at the end could have been saved. And then there are those who have done scummy things not associated with specifically the Balki lynch.

It is not scummy in itself to vote or suspect town. It is scummy to avoid suspecting or voting mafia. There are scummy ways to vote or suspect town, ways which reveal scummy motives.
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
Jeff: Did you not see on page 26 (same page where you would come in and criticize the BB wagon) where I said "Since the guak vote isn't taking off, I would prefer to move to Espi, but at the same time I'm afraid of forcing the tie?" And, later, on page 32, you yourself said the following: "I was kind of hoping someone, anyone would have made the switch to Espi, then I would have jumped on him to break the tie and save Balki." So, if you and I had communicated better, we could have saved Balki. We, hand in hand, are therefore to some degree responsible. What made either of us switching even less likely was phil's quote on page 27 "Hell, if someone switches to Espi now, I would probably kneejerk vote Balki." I think this solidified both of us not switching to Espi, but it was also really close to the deadline. The way I see it, 7 people are responsible for Balki's death to varying degrees. 4 of those (guak, Espi, ND, and bo) are especially responsible for having their votes there, one (phil) was responsible for encouraging it and threatening to keep it from stopping, and 2 (you and me) are responsible for being able to save him and preferring to save him but not doing so. This could have only worked with both of us, so our responsibility hinges on one another. If you see it differently, please explain how.

@epsi: it's ALOT of reading and as clever and smart as people may think they are it's clouded in bs. I don't have any reason to defend myself.

@deathllama
1. My reads were early, and based on 10 pages.
2. I think my read on Guak comes from all the personal history between other players. Mostly I trusted balki: liked his clarity versus word salad chopped. I dont get it.
3. Huh? I haven't a clue what this means. I am looking for mafia and I've got you on my list too.
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
Lucland, what do you think of other players?
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
SS: The way I understand it, you would have preferred a tie over a mislynch?
Espi (338 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
@lucland we have a lot of info on other people due to their many 'bs' posts. We do not have info on you or slacker, which makes it near impossible to actually read you. If you want to be read as town, you have to try a lot more.
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
Espi: You realize that saying something like that outright is what got Balki last-minute lynched, right?
Espi (338 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
On page 23 BB said "I've worked hard to earn townreads from others, which I think is good for town (not alignment indicative, I know, you don't have to tell me)." I am telling Lucland he needs to make more posts in general so people can read him, I did not mean to suggest he posts simply so that he can be read as town, but based on his current posts he isn't doing a good job.
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
"If you want to be read as town" I meant this one.
Espi (338 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
I know you meant that one, I was comparing quotes. Your interpretation of my post is correct, that is what I typed. Thank you for pointing that out so I could correct it and not give Lucland the wrong idea.
guak (3381 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
@Lucland: I do not even understand what you are trying to say because your posts are confusing. What I do know iss that you promised to build a case on me and that you haven't built it yet. Is that because you plan to NK me and do not think it is worth the effort to build a case on someone who is about to die?
TrPrado (461 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
Such paranoid. He did build a case (of sorts), but it was based on some pretty outdated stuff.
Espi (338 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
He quoted stuff with no meaning toward the quotes, how is that a case? It beat my summary out by a long shot for a bad case. Do you understand something from his case that we don't?

Since the night is nearing its end, I'll do an update of my reads. This time I'll forego explanations unless I feel they're necessary and ditch the slight slight and triple slight stuff since we have more to work with.
Espi - SCUM. Sheeping (constantly), buddying, distancing and removing responsibility, though he claims otherwise.
guak - SLIGHT SCUM. A bunch, but his scumminess is pulling back a bit.
phil_a_s - SLIGHT SCUM. Something about his EOD and night performance seems off
ND - NULL
bo_sox48 - NULL
Yoyoyozo - NULL
DeathLlama9 - SLIGHT TOWN
americaslacker - NULL
Jeff Kuta - SLIGHT SCUM. I thought he was getting better around the beginning of night, but recently the distancing stuff that I pointed out and deflections have kept him here.
SaladinSmith - SLIGHT SCUM
Lucland - NULL
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Aug 15 UTC
Tr, can you cut down on the null reads? Those aren't terribly helpful for us.

If you're town and you haven't written up your reads yet, let's get on it quick. I'll post mine shortly before the deadline.

TOWN - Balki (you guys suck)
SLIGHT TOWN - bo, phil, saladinsmith
VERY SLIGHT TOWN - Jeff, Lucland, Trprado
VERY SLIGHT SCUM - ND, Yoyo
SLIGHT SCUM - America, Guak
SCUM - Espi

Espi (338 D)
14 Aug 15 UTC
@Tr, why are your only scum reads for the people that have voted you?
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
14 Aug 15 UTC
Here's mine, been waiting to post this for an hour.

Bo's EON Reads:

1.) Espi - null. I have gotten mixed vibes from him throughout the game. When I interrogate him, he comes off as scummy, but occasionally townslips. His vote on Balki was also a towntell, given that he could have jumped on a bandwagon that would have made his survival more likely but instead jumped on BB's to tie the vote. It seems to me that his intentions with that were fairly pure, but it could have simply been a poor decision. It's impossible to tell, and we need to keep on pressuring him and treat him as a suspect.

2.) guak - null. He has been somewhat quiet during the night, but that's not very telling with guak. I am unsure what to make of his bout yesterday with TrPrado, particularly because he said that Balki's case as scum (before the slip) rested on Tr flipping scum. Now that Balki turned town, I would like to see how the case against Tr adapts. Until then, most of the back-and-forth those two had on day 1 is tough to read.

3.) TrPrado - slight town. I graded him as slight scum in my last reads but that was a long time ago. Since then, he has contributed fairly consistently. I liked how he reacted when under pressure from guak and I think he had a fairly solid line of questioning for Espi simultaneously, something that mafia will rarely focus on while they are under potentially lynch pressure (keep in mind that the vote was Espi-4, guak-3, and Tr-3 at this time, with about an hour until the deadline).

4.) phil_a_s - slight scum. I just read ND's post on page 32 and he made some strong points against phil and how he seemed particularly interested in coaching from the sideline toward the end of day 1. While I feel that ND might be worried about making an OMGUS case on this matter, I'm not - phil, please answer to ND's case against you, preferably before the night ends but if not as soon as you can.

5.) ND - moderate town. He didn't contribute much early. I felt that he was coasting through much of day 1, but, as you might have guessed, I find his megapost on page 32 as fairly townie. The research into the mafia influence of M1 lynches in past games show that he's not afraid to throw his name into the fray, and my gut suggests that he wouldn't have taken this approach if he were terribly worried about whether or not he dies.

6.) bo_sox48 - still me.

7.) Yoyoyozo - moderate scum. I get being sick and fairly ineffective as a result, but I don't know that unvoting at the end of the day was because he didn't want to make a mistake. I would say that he could have unvoted in order to keep his name disassociated with a mislynch. The laziness and the coasting, though, worry me; even if you're sick, you can give it a fair shot. He never did. If he doesn't up his workload significantly on day 2, we need to talk about giving this guy the rope. (Also, for the record, I'm sick too, been hacking my brains out for a week now, so I hope we both get well soon.)

8.) DeathLlama9 - town. He has been towntelling and playing a town-friendly game in general. His vote to try to prevent a mafia-influenced tie vote like in M10 put the icing on the cake.

9.) americaslacker - null. In my analysis on him, I said that he played the dumb townie, and I still believe that, but that only matters if he actually shows up to play. I don't know where he is, but I'm not going to waste my time analyzing someone anymore who can't be bothered to play anyway, so he's a null until he contributes.

10.) Jeff Kuta - scum. See below.

11.) SaladinSmith - slight scum. I haven't seen a whole lot out of this guy since we were grilling him for his no-lynch/random-lynch/whatever plan on day 1. It seems like the attention has faded off of him in favor of others, which is fine, but the fact of the matter is that this guy hasn't done anything townie so far this game, and even though the only particularly scummy thing in my mind he's done was the vote at the end of the day, we shouldn't let him lurk freely. He has only posted once during the night as far as I remember.

12.) Balki - town.

13.) Lucland - slight scum. In the little we have seen of him, he's done nothing but tunnel on guak. Otherwise, he has done basically nothing, and keeps on anchoring by saying he's rereading. I don't know how long rereading takes, but I would appreciate it if he could catch up with the times.

Jeff Kuta -

Jeff is scum. I got a hell of a scummy reaction out of him before. It confirmed an annoying suspicion I have had since I skimmed over him at the beginning of the night.

Piece #1 - Jeff's latest reads

Page 32 - reads

"Espi: neutral
guak: neutral (downgrade from slight town)
TrPrado: slight scum
phil_a_s: slight town
ND: slight scum (downgrade from slight town)
bo_sox48: slight scum
Yoyoyozo: neutral (upgrade from slight scum)
DeathLlama9: slight town
americaslacker: neutral (policy lynch?)
Jeff Kuta: me
SaladinSmith: slight scum (downgrade from neutral)
Lucland: neutral (policy lynch?)"

Later on page 32, I ask him to clarify his reads with some explanations. He posts his clarifications on page 33 -

"guak: neutral (downgrade from slight town)
I think guak's recognition of the 'gotcha moment' got the better of him. Maybe he wanted another wagon because he felt the heat? I just really dislike those late day swings, and he started it.

ND: slight scum (downgrade from slight town)
One of the BB brigade.

Yoyoyozo: neutral (upgrade from slight scum)
I think Yoyo was legitimately in a bad state last night so he just bailed on contributing. Not a town-clear, but he didn't want to make a mistake.

SaladinSmith: slight scum (downgrade from neutral)
I just don't trust his late switch to Espi. Still seems suspicious to me."

I noticed that his explanation on ND could apply to two others - Espi and myself. I ask him about it here:

"So why doesn't the fact that I am also 'one of the BB brigade' make me scummier? How about Espi?"

He says this:

"@bo:
Downgrading bo to 'scum' from 'slight scum' for asking to be downgraded."

Here's the thing - I questioned Jeff. I came after him, not Espi, and as a result, he doesn't think to downgrade Espi, only me. He is more worried about making a point to me, so he alters his own reads in order to please me and to threaten me at the same time. In doing so, he completely forgets that I asked a two-part question. That's exactly how mafia thinks. It's about as scummy a thing you can do.

Piece #2 - Jeff's reaction to the mislynch

Jeff also reacted like this to the BB mislynch:

"Man, wtf? I hate when these stupid lynches come out of nowhere in the last minutes of the phase. We had TrPrado. And then guak switched to BB? WTF? Friggin' sheep."

If you pick apart mafia strategy, one of the things that comes up often is that mafia react strongly to scenarios that benefit them - and scenarios that thereby hurt the town. This is one of those. Does that reaction seem genuine? Not to me. It seems calculated and forced.

Moreover, Jeff was online at the deadline. He was online before it, too. While those of you that were online were debating between your candidates, Jeff was sitting by. We know this because, midway through page 26, he pushed his choice of TrPrado:

"I still think the case against TrPrado is stronger than Balki's supposed scumslip. I think Balki is being logical in the face of pressure. I just don't think he expected how virulently the town could be when they feel they are being duped by someone trying to earn cred. (…) I'm sticking with TrPrado."

TrPrado then asks:

"What about the case against me makes it so strong?"

Jeff doesn't respond. He comments elsewhere, saying that BB could force a tie by voting for guak, but he fails to even once address the TrPrado case even though the vote is so close. He simply sits idly by while the debate between BB, Espi, guak, and TrPrado rages, and then acts upset when the results come in and TrPrado lives.

This was a completely fake reaction. Go back and look at it in context; there's nothing to it.

If I'm dead in the coming minutes, please take a good look at Jeff. After that, don't forget my reads. They aren't worthless. If I'm alive, I hope to see a response shortly.

In case I die tonight, I've held the suspicion that there was a guak-Espi-Jeff scum team. Espi has been hardcore buddying up to guak, and guak said he liked the wagon on me and BB because it protected Espi. Around the start, guak also tried to buddy up to Jeff, and accused Jeff of doing the same to him (which I called out as being the other way around). As of recently, I've started to doubt myself on Jeff's connection to that scum team. It could easily be someone else, and I think that gut feeling is passing a bit. I know Jeff is still on my list of scum, but his connection is almost involuntary, so I have second thoughts about that.

I don't have time to get a new reads list out. Read my important information.

Page 17: My first reads list.
Page 32: D1 Vote Analysis

I think that it is highly likely ESPI is scum. I think we need to re-evaluate GUAK/bo_sox48. I think Saladin/Phil have had strange/scummy behavior following EOD. I still think yoyoyozo is acting odd. Lucland/Americanslacker are lurking no rating.

I was just in a anon. game that got cancelled - after many, many turns. At last we (the big majority of players) succeeded in getting 1 player to vote cancel.
My question is, is there any way in getting to know who played in that game, now that it is cancelled?
