Have any of you played on that map? It looks CRAZY. You can only build in one or two places. It allows for more than one unit to occupy the same space, and there are all those crazy extra provinces! WOW.

I'm sure this has been answered before, but I'm not quite sure where. If a country is in CD, what is the order of the his units that are destroyed? I believe I saw somewhere it was the farthest away in a non-SC position first, is that correct?

I think we did this a while back, where we posted different things we'd written...and I've definitely had a "Top ___ Works Ever" thread (or two or four or four thousand) before... So here they are combined--favorite short poems (ie, no Iliad/Paradise Lost/The Waste Land, good as they are, they're longer poems and in another category) and, for the brave...perhaps we can get a Poetry Corner going? :)
I want everyone to private message this guy as he was too rubbish to win when anyone else was playing so he didnt draw even though russia had helped nim all the way through (russia isnt me) he is the worst type of player and nobody shud play with him ever again.
So, that thread on Ubuntu made me want to try again on my laptop. I installed 11.10 and I have the same problem as before. On windows, my computer idles at 33-49degC. In Ubuntu, it idles around 82degC. What's with the 40degC increase? Thoughts?
That wasn't what you said. You said to point my domain to Gmail. You aren't an admin on Gmail. You are an admin on your own google apps server. Very different thing. I am partial to Microsoft products considering I have a Premiere MADN subscription.
Yeah, I thought you just owned the domain in which case you would have to let Google handle the install/storage. Misread on my part.
Gmail is just so universal and simple whilst offering incredible features that I just can't get rid of it. Plus, it's just a tiny bit of the Google Apps package. Having ~50 people be able to use whatever device they want for all the apps and never have any maintenance is just too good to pass up. Once you master the hotkeys and filtering powers, email becomes fun and useful again.
I'm not anyone's fanboy, all the big companies have something I recommend. But I've got no problem sticking up for what is absolutely the best software and for email, that's google.
See, I wasn't being sarcastic when I suggested using snail mail and brought up the risks involved...thats what would actually make the game fun and different from the regular webdip game in my opinion.
Draug, would you want to play in a future game, if this turns out to be ridiculously fun and catches on somewhat? If so, I think we should go a different route than @draugnar.
I would prefer 1 week phases because I know I will only be able to send hand-written scans maybe once or twice a day, if that. Vaftrudner seems to be in the same position, so we need time to communicate. However, I'm also supportive of "ready when possible."
What size bet do you guys want to see? I presume gunboat is okay on the site, as someone suggested. We could definitely play anon, if this email can work out like you guys say.
I might play down the line, but could give one of the mods access to manage the server and be honorable in not looking at the emails or the settings for any game i was in.
I'm definitely interested in playing, and as you said dumbbell, would require about a week due to my hectic schedule. This sounds like a very interesting idea, though.

We still need one, assuming that list is correct. We still need to agree to phase length, etc. I am proposing the following options: 8 day phases, anon, "no press"/ full by mail, and 30 bet. If you want it richer or poorer, shorter or longer, let me know.

OK, so thinking over the solution... I cans et it up so I don't see the messages and who they were from, but I can't avoid knowing which country has which email adress. Is everyone OK if I'm not completely anon? Or should we run it non-anon so I don't have this slight bit of extra info?
I'm not afraid of non-anonymous. I personally don't care who you are int eh forums, etc - I just want to know what you have to say to me in the game. I, personally, do NOT play my forum personna in-game (usually...lol). I don many hats for many people...heh heh...

@ora, I would really enjoy an actual postal game too. After we get this game going, I would fancy finding five more players interested in actual postal diplomacy.

Who would win in a gunboat between seven of yourself?
A fun little exercise that has been helping my play style recently was to learn what bias I have in game. So pull out your dip board and make what you think is the best gunboat opening for each power, then play each power to the best of your ability to win. Who wins? Who gets eliminated first?
