You want ghost ratings to suffer when someone takes their full allotted time to finalize. That is bad sportsmanship, I agree, but it breaks no rules and they should not suffer for it.

Right, but almost everybody but you agrees that it would be impossible to distinguish bad from good reasons. I'm sorry, but if you sign up for a five-minute phase, then running into the next room during the last three minutes of each phase to keep an eye on your infant is a good reason for not finalizing, and not one that the GR could catch. Just to make up one random example.

If you have an infant that needs attention then you shouldn't be playing diplomacy.

There is not a single valid justification for delaying the game when you're not competitive in a gunboat game.

Personally I think resignation rate should be incorporated into the ratings. Furthermore, someone with a resignation rate of say 5, or even, 10 % plus should have a warning label or two attached when they join an annonymous game. No name no packdrill eh?

I was about to really give you the "really?!?" talk, but then I looked at the one thing you were bitching about, that being your ghost rating. Maybe you should take some notes from those in this thread with high ghost ratings on how to survive when all seems glum.
I've had my fair share of survivals and resurrections in games because I diplome heavier when I'm dying off. That's when there's nothing to lose, you put your cards on the table, and get anything possible done. That takes more time than diploming to figure out the 15 support moves needed from you and your ally's 32 units.

So your blanket statement that they don't need the time and are intentionally stalling is *still* bullshit. Unless someone comes out and says "fuck you all, I'm makoing your life miserable" (which they can't do in *gunboat*) then you can't know for a fact or even make a reasonable assumption that they *aren't* actively trying to find a way out of their situation. Stretched every phase to the bloody end in this game waiting for even the faintest of life signs from my fellow players.

If I remember correctly I was stabbed 7/8 times in this game. I awarded 2 counterstabs.

This is not a live game so I don't care. Nobody sits around all day waiting for moves to be confirmed in live games. Thanks for bringing up something irrelevant.

Where in this thread do you specify what type of games you want to discuss here? I thought the live gunboat was just brought up as an example of general principle.

Dying players - like many players here who have higher GRs than you do including myself have told you already - need to communicate, be friendly, patient, wait for messages, search game histories, search player histories, ANYTHING that provides them with the intel to make their moves.

Where? Well I mentioned live games in the first post (see: delay game an hour), and gunboats I mentioned at the beginning of the exchange with Invictus, quite a while ago now. Surely a supergenius like you could have figured that out.

@redhouse - Save your breath. Disagreeing with VVPutinfuck (a better name similar to HR Puff'nstuff) just feeds his superiority complex becaus ehe can't possibly be wrong, even though his GR is only 394th (I think) place on the site and he has had several top players (Hell, I'm 72nd and hardly a topplayer) tell him he is wrong to assume anything about another person's motives.

@VVPutinfuck - Mentioning the game was delayed an *hour* does not indicate it was a live game. It took someone else pointing out you were probably talking about live games for it to be clear.
