If you want to make a variant, you should talk to sleepcap (aka Oli), the owner of vDip. Variants aren't added here very frequently, but you can find a lot of support on vDip.

Also, I'm still not convinced at all that Middle Earth makes a good dip map. I'd need to see a good drawing before I commit to anything.

Your map doesn't look too bad for one that was hand drawn. Having a small obsession with LOTR, I have a problem with your choice of countries and such. The Dwarves/Men of the Long Lake would be better for Erebor and Iron Hills. That's my main problem, but in reality it is impossible to make a lotr map without inaccuracies and yet still make it fair for diplomacy.

I attempted to make a map about a year ago using basic XP edit options. It was going well until my computer collapsed, and I transferred it to my new computer with Windows 7. The new edit program messed up the colors. I lost interest when I couldn't figure it out. And I didn't care enough to get a program just for this one map.

I was able to get it onto Google docs, and if someone could help me find a better and yet free program (I'd only be willing to do the map itself not the programming) or a way to get the map to someone who is willing to use it, I'd be willing to hand it over. It still needs a lot of revision of course.

Or you could just scrap it and use the outline.

Oh and all of the browns except the dark one (obviously Mordor.) are all neutral; I had a lot of trouble finding one color when the various colors kept changing every time I saved it. And I know there would need to be a lot more neutral SCs, especially above Mordor and below Arnor. This map was loosely based on the first map posted on this forum.

This is just sooooo wrong on soooooo many levels. I mean, Mordor possibly having an alliance with the Elves? That is just *wrong*.

First, if you are going to do this, it should be set in the Fourth Age, right after the Second War of the Ring in which the ring is finally cast into the fires from which it was forged (i.e. after the events of Return of the King).

There should be no elves as they have all headed off to the Grey Havens and no orcs/trolls/goblins. Instead, it should be a squabble between the various nations of men and the dwarves. At least that is mythically accurate.

i cant program that well, so ill let some petter programers do it. i just wanted to see aproval, which i did see so mabye the mods will approve it

@abge - I was looking at that with vDip. i agree that the current map plan isn't that entertaining. I want something more solid before I start dedicating any time to it.

@yebellz - yeah, I found all the code there. I've been reading through it to get up to speed.

Well, only Kestas can approve it. Seriously, the mdos are just people who guide the games to make certain no one cheats. One or two may be developers, but that isn't their "job" here so to speak. I would take the idea to vdip and see if Oli and his crew wants to work on it. That's where world map and ancient med came from.

its a really fun map, and the fan enjoyment from it will make up for some minor gameplay flaws

@abgemacht: I know my map sucks, but we have fun playing it. My design also allows you to play with less than the set number of people (because we rarely get eleven interested), but it works out.
@urallLESBIANS: Interesting design, I was originally trying to base mine off of something similar, but I couldn't arrange it properly. It looks like yours might work out very well.
@Everyone: If enough people are interested, I'd like to help if we are all to make a LOTR map. Another idea: we could set up the same map with a few variances so that we could establish it in several different ages...maybe. All I want to do is help make one if someone could organize a team of mapmakers...
