Bills are 3-0. Another huge comeback. They beat the Patriots for the first time like in a decade. I'm pumped.

Ron Paul 2012!
come on, the guy's just a total boss. get the troops out of afghanistan, iraq...hell, everywhere! germany, south korea...etc. abolish the minimum wage, federal income tax, and basically every department except defense, state, and justice (he'd probably keep veteran affairs and treasury, not sure about those two), legalize marijuana, free trade, balanced budget, no draft, states' rights, and END THE FED. Liberty/Revolution!

The Collaborative Writing Thread
Calling all WebDip writers! Let's make a collaborative story between all of us. If interested, sign up and rules are as follows:

Perhaps earthquakes are actually caused by rifts in time and not the other way around? And tectonic movements and such only mask the effect.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Are you suggesting that each person is TAKEN to a different time or that each person COMES from a different time and ends up at the same place? If that were the case, we could have a 'future' person, a 'modern' person and a 'past' person from say the 19th century. In either case, an interesting concept idea Warden. I like it.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
It would make for an awesome group/party who would have to work together.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Naturally, their goal would be to return to their home time, and perhaps they're all dragged to the source of the temporal disturbances. Making it an adventure with a little bit of a different cast.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Okay yeah I like the idea of a bunch of people from different times trying to get home and making friends in the process.

Is it still set in medieval Europe?

Also is it necessary to have the earthquake thing I'd just as soon have it be totally inexplicable, it stands up better to scrutiny that way. But we can go with the earthquake idea if you like.

So we could maybe have say someone from Rome or before, someone from around the medieval period but still a different time frame, and someone(s) from now. You could maybe also throw in an industrial revolution character.

If we like that idea at all that is. That could make it even harder to write though lol maybe set it in the modern world and have someone from the future, modern characters, and then some people from the past too.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
well, I only tossed out my Earthquake idea since that was the current train of thought. I'm no more attached to it than to my life-draining vampire troll. But if we do want to go with people pulled through time to our story, then I've got an idea I could flesh out for a Roman/Greek era person.
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I'd like to ditch the quake as well; too many lose ends there. We could include someone from the future as well, who is somehow responsible for the chronoshift.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I'm not definitely attached to the earthquake idea, it was just a suggestion.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Okay all these sound like good ideas but what time period does it happen in?

Still medieval Europe? I'm still in for that, just want to know.

If so these would be cool characters:

-A Roman
-Maybe a "contemporary" or someone from the more distant past
-An industrial age person
-One or more modern people
-And the guy from the future having something to do with the chronoshift, I like that word lol. I also like that idea abge.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
That's an idea Abge, They could be experimenting with time travel and don't realize that they've 'pulled' these other people with them.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I'm really into Medieval Europe. I know more about that culture time than any other as I've set more than one story there before.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
we could include multiple future-people; but do we want the adventurers to be seeking a way home, or get tangled up in something not at all related? If they're merely seeking a way home, then I would propose a future antagonist instead of a random event. Perhaps someone trying to manipulate human history along a radically different course? Maybe trying to stop the "dark ages" from stunting human development by ending Christianity. Or any other large event.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Are you thinking someone like a 'Victorian-age' for the industrial age person? I could see making my Julianna character (with a new name) into a Victorian. Great ideas of character types.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
multiple meaning one in the "party" for lack of a better word, and another instigating the chronoshift. Or maybe they even worked together and the "party" future person could provide exposition as to the motives behind the event?
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Wow, that's an awesome thought! Meddling with the past to 'perfect' humanity. Then time travel would be set in Medieval Europe AND Futuristic Europe (toward the end) as they try to make things right.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Yes I meant something along those lines. Any time frame from imperialist Europe basically works but if Victorian is what you want there you go. I agree Julianna could be changed to that character.

As for your comment Warden, I think that there could be two future people - one is the antagonist with the nefarious goal/intent to keep our characters in the past/future and the other is his enemy and helps the characters/is a protagonist.

FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I really like Warden's idea there with the 'perfecting' humanity.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
The second 'enemy' could even be the 'victim' of the first who was brought in to be the guinea pig and tricked into being sent back in time.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
So just to be sure, the official members of the collaborative story are:

FirstApple
Thucydides
WardenDresden
Draugnar
Abgemacht

Am I correct in that list? Is there anybody else who is looking to join us?
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I'll be leaving work now but I'll check back with you guys later this evening to see any new input and ideas and add any that I might come up with.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Aug 11 UTC
The other possibility is future scientists have an 'accident' that causes the chronoshifting. In the process, people got pulled through, but more and more people or things are getting pulled through and the chronoshift is out of control. Our heroes have to figure out how to stop it and restore the balance, but there is a traitor amongst them who actually wants to wreck the world and caused the 'accident' which was no accident at all.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Aug 11 UTC
The villain, though, should have a personal connection/reason (say a lost loved one he wants to bring back or an event he wants to stop).
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Okay it all sounds good, the antagonist is attempting to change history and brought a poor soul from his time with him.

2 questions to answer - how and why are the other characters brought there, and

is their objective to get home/how would they get home, or is it to stop the guy

and what is the guy's actual objective. what happened in medieval europe that could have changed the course of history for the better?

or maybe the antagonist is trying to fuck it up? maybe he tries to stop the crusades - that would set back the world a few centuries.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I think the villain could just be a joker like character who just likes to fuck things up.

takes us back to warden's troll character idea.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Aug 11 UTC
Or maybe he screwed up and medieval europe wasn't the target...
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
but the accident idea is a pretty good one yeah.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
Maybe the black plague or some other major thing has returned because the human gene can no longer fight it so he wants to take 'specimens' from a time when the body had more immunities due to diseases that were rampant.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
I also like the accident idea that wasn't 'truly' an accident. it will make for a nice twist toward the middle-end
Thucydides (864 D(B))
25 Aug 11 UTC
okay but why is that something you would need to stop. lol. i think its better that he is just playing some fucked up game, as per draugnar's "accident" when in fact he cherry picked the game's "players" for his own maniacal reasons. it explains why the characters are so neatly spread out over time.
Draugnar (0 DX)
25 Aug 11 UTC
If cherry picked characters, then there needs to be some common thread linking them. Perhaps great minds, ala Sanctuary (a SyFy series).

Hillary 2016, Anyone?
There was a time where I REALLY loathed Hillary Clinton, but the job she's done as Secretary of State...she's EASILY been the most effectual person in the Obama administration...and hey, I liked the 1990s, and while I didn't like him as a kid, as an adult, I do appreciate Bill...

Would anyone else here consider voting for her in 2016 (or even make her the favorite?)

Carry a grudge or friendship
I wanna know, would you or have you carried a grudge from one game to another? Like you want to destroy this particular player because he betrayed you in a previous game?
Likewise, have you experienced carrying a friendship or alliance from one game to the next, like you'd send a message to a player saying "wanna be friends again :-)" and other player replied "sure, worked so well last time..."

Help Wanted: Critique My Personal Statement
I'll be applying to medical school in the next few weeks, and would appreciate any feedback you all have on my personal statement. It's a very rough draft, so any thoughts are welcome. I'm probably about 125 words short of the maximum right now (The maximum is actually 5300 characters, and I'm around 4000)
