Thats what seems to be implied in the rules.

I'd be willing to join/start either:

* a Dutch team
* a Low Countries team (Benelux: Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg)
* a German team

Anyone interested in getting the Russian team or eastern europe team has to get it kickstarted becuase I may be inthe verge of a kick ass USA west team

One idea from chess that could be good. For the 2 standard games, the higher Ghostrated player should be obliged to join one game and the lower rated player the other, which avoids the problem of a weaker team putting their better player among the noobs to avoid facing the masters.

speaking of skill level would anyone be willing to help give me everyone ghost ratings after their signed up? i would give them the list of all the members in the tourny under which region signed up for. this way i could place them more easily among equal strength players. i might not have time to do this myself

I think yoiu should probably let each team decide wich player plays gunboat, wich public press, and who's their "No 1" and "No 2" Normal Diplomacy player.

I agree with Xapi. In my view, the organizers should not make an effort to group players by ghost rating. Instead, assignment of teams to pools should be random, and then each team would assign players to particular games.

You're right, I don't think any right minded South team would accept OK players... ;-)

But we should be able to put together a Republic of Texas team, no?

I would join a Pacific NW/Western US team then.

the rules are being sorted out i sent an email to denis and Frito askign about them. some may be subject to change. when the signups come up the official rules will be established.
