Playing with less than 7?
Does anyone know if we are able to play a game with less than 7 people? And if we can, does anyone know how we go about doing that? Our current game will only start if we have 7.

Quite how Australia have managed to let England gain an outside chance of winning this game I've no idea. Deliberately giving a side a chance of winning to stop them playing for a draw is one thing, but having a dead and buried opposition drag themselves back into contention is quite another. Even if Australia win this the idea of an Australian whitewash had faded considerably.

Well...England need about 178 ? with six wickets in hand to win...who would have thought it ?
Anderson Bowled brilliantly in that evening session on day three..pitched it up on a better length, and got movement, then the English team followed that up with a great performance in the first session of day four..to dismiss Australia for 138 runs.. The ball that Bowled S Marsh ( who made a century in the first innings) was a cracker..then a decent opening by Cook and the other chap.. Getting to 50 without losing a wicket.. Then Australia striking back to have the English two out for fifty four runs
At least my minor surgery for today is scheduled for this morning.. Hope to still be here and awake again for today's 2 PM start..

First day of the Third Test in Perth, Western Australia. England won the coin toss, decided to bat & finished the day's play had scored 305 runs & lost only four wickets. Cook failed, scoring only 7, and although a fifty odd was scored by the other opener or the next batsman, two chaps only made approx mid 20's..Root & the next ? chap.. So England were four out for about 160 odd runs then a brilliant partnership between Malan ( 110 runs, not out ) & Bairstow ( 75 runs not out ) took England to 305 runs.
Australia took the new ball about a half hour before the end of the day's play, had a few chances but dropped catches

Yeah, a little bit sloppy from Australia. The sad truth is that this Australian side really aren't that good. England have just managed to be worse at crucial moments.

Nice to see a day which England have won for a change. Back in the day Australia would respond with a mighty first innings of their own. This lot.... we'll see.

Ohhh My fucking God.......how to throw a test match in 6 easy wickets...time to go out to a bar in Northbridge piss in public , get home at 3 in the morning and headbutt the night clerk..just in time to let the assies off the hook agian..

Someone clearly hasn't had their horlicks this morning :p.

Losing the tail cheaply is disappointing, but it isn't particularly important. What will determine whether England can win or not is our ability to get Australia out and the time available. At the moment everything is nicely balanced.

losing a tail that could have put on 80-100 runs and kept the aussies out in the hot filed is more than a minor inconnvience england have to strat winnin tests not trying to draw..

Australia four wickets down for 404 runs ..Smith 180 runs, Mitchell Marsh 85 runs...
Octavious (2802 D)

Well... that sucks
MajorMitchell (1874 D)

Australia are in a great position in Test match at the end of the third day...First innings...four wickets for 549(?) runs. Steve Smith 200+ and Mitchell Marsh 150+ both not out. England scored 403 runs in their first innings. Perhaps only bad weather.. rain might help England dodge a loss in this game. There's rain predicted for tomorrow morning in Perth. Enough to save England ?

England are two nil down in this Ashes Test Cricket series..This is the game they had to win to have any chance of winning the series 3--2
If Australia win this game they secure the Ashes and create the opportunity to go for a 5--0 result.
Octavious (2802 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
England hold the Ashes so a 2-2 counts as an English win. A draw here keeps a thin thread of hope alive. Hopefully the Australians will over indulge at Christmas and we can win the Boxing Day Test :p

The major differnce is the failure of Australia to collapse..4 out and still pumping..ENg would have been at the pub by now..
Octavious (2802 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
No it isn't. The difference is that we struggle to bowl in Australian conditions. At the bat we've not been great, but we're not a disaster either. With the ball we just don't have the pace. If the series was in England it would probably be close, but down under we've got the wrong weapons.
kestasjk (64 DMod(P))

I wish it had gone England's way, but I have to say great test! Can't beat the games that swing way back and forth between teams..
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
16 Dec 17 UTC
I think Octavious might be "half right" with his opinion about the bowling attack of the English Cricket team... But not the bit about pace... I think it's more failure to bowl right line & length, lack of movement and lack of coordination between field set and bowling..They Bowled too short in Brisbane and in the Australian first innings in Adelaide... The first time they put it all together.. Aust 2nd innings in Adelaide they cleaned up.
But the English bowling and fielding today 3rd day Perth was weak, weak, weak.
MajorMitchell (1874 D)
17 Dec 17 UTC
Fourth day... Australia bat on, then declared their first innings finished at 9 wickets down for 662 runs.. a lead of 259 runs over England's first innings of 403 runs. As I watch now, England are four wickets down for 100 runs.

Imho Glen McGrath is one of the best examples of how a quick bowler should operate...great control, rarely gave batsmen easy runs from poor deliveries, bowled mainly in the narrow alley on, or just outside off stump, making the batsmen play at most deliveries...great strategy of drying up the runs, bowling maiden overs, and then batsmen would more or less get themselves out playing risky shots because they got desperate to score runs.
Great example of how a bowler who doesn't have "lethal speed" like a Thompson or those deadly West Indies fast bowlers like Marshall, but who is more a medium fast bowler can be a super effective bowler

A little cut an paste from " lateral Events " re Brian Cox.

It has taken 4 billion years from the origin of life on Earth to produce living things that can contemplate the true scale of the Universe, and our contemplations raise challenging questions about our place and value amongst an infinite sea of stars.
