Opening in Gunboat as Russia
Russia has the largest array of openings compared to all other countries on the Classic map. So what exactly is the best opening when you can't communicate with your fellow... allies?

Mods Ignoring Complaints?
I filed multiple complaints against abusive forum content days ago, and the mods have not responded. Very disappointed -- I'm fairly certain I am being ignore/treated unfairly because they dislike me -- I expect better behavior from the mods here.

Anyone else being ignored by mods?

Was it me calling you the "profoundly stupid krellin" about which you now whine to the Mods ? Sure krellin you deserve to be treated no differently than any other member, but I think you're being hypocritical about offensive language if you're whining about some of the things you get called, given that you throw abuse and blasphemy about rather freely, like have you apologised for describing Hillary Clinton as a "crooked c**t" ?
So dearest, most profoundly stupid krellin, you need to toughen up a bit sweetypie, try asking at your local pharmacy for some of MajorMitchell's patented "Liquid Ticker" ( Ticker is Australian slang for the heart )
One teaspoon of "Liquid Ticker" each morning with breakfast will greatly improve your courage quotient, Especially if used in combination with MajorMitchell's patented "Gonad growth Pills", these help you grow a pair, as it were.

Of course you are Nyghthype -- and you are probably also one of those hypocrites that will get all bent out of shape and complain when someone says something that offends you, or attacks some PC-protected group, etc. I'm fully aware of your type. You are the type that says, "We should all be nice...unless I'm attacking you". The type of hypocrite that is ruining the country.

Frankly, I have no idea who you are - I don't recognize your name, and I don't really care who you are. But your "siding with MM" is exactly the type of hypocrisy I am asking the mods to address. The idea that "Oh...it's OK to tell <krellin/user that offends me> to shut up or be silenced>, but please leave me alone when I insult/personally attack/offend others, because MY beliefs are superior to yours..."

It's this sort of mod-hypocrisy that has, frankly, made this site far less than it used to be....when mods started selective punishing offensive behavior.
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
i never complain about people who offend me because i and the majority of people on this earth don't really care about what some stranger posts on forums the internet. i also don't attack pc culture groups unless they attack me first. then we debate. civilized discussion. i also am very against everybody being nice and here's why. constant and unwavering niceness eliminates discussion.
JECE (1248 D)

Perhaps a guilty conscience is something that would benefit you, krellin? You've tossed the phrase about twice in this short thread already as if it were a skill you have yet to develop.
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC

Clearly you are a hypocrite. If you don't care about what people post on the internet, then why are you wasting time in this discussion, as if I care about you or your opinion, other than to point out yet another hypocrite.

YOu don't attack unless attacked first...and yet you "support majormitchell" who came into this thread and attacked me without me even mentioning his name. Yeah....you have no intellectual consistency.

As for whether or not people should be nice to each other, that isn't the topic at hand, and frankly your statement is at odds with this site mods, who have said it is against the rules and punishable to offend others. This isn't a "free speech" place. It USED to be, and I prefer it that way -- you and I are probably more alike than you suspect....but if the mods are going to punish SOME for offensive, insulting behavior, then they should punish all. That is the only thing I am bring up -- do you somehow think it proper for there to be inconsistent application of rules?
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC
(+3)
@JECE - perhaps you should read in context, instead of cherry pick words. MajorMitchell came out of nowhere and attacked me, and brought up a specific incident of his indecent behavior. Why would he do that? It isn't my conscience we are talking about, as I cannot/did not make MM post. But I get it...you just think that you need to find a way to come into the thread and throw your dig at me.

We are all very impressed with you.
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
majority of people. not me. i like debates.
i support majormitchell for pointing out your hypocrisy.
inconsistent application of the rules. how are you supposed to prove that? mods are busy. they have lives. they do the best they can. inconsistent can be replaced with incomplete. they try. we should be grateful. at least we HAVE mods. and it's the holidays we're all busy.

krellin (80 DX)

@Nyght - lol Apparently you can't read, either. I pointed out my OWN hypocrisy quite clearly.

Regardless of my hypocrisy, if this website is going to be one that caters to the offended, then I'll play along. Why should I have to read things that offend me without pointing them out?

And MaorMitchell....you support him? No offense, but if you are looking for someone to admire that can handle criticism, etc, it certainly isn't MajorMitchell.

Here is the difference between MajorMitchell and me: I will (used to....) gladly call you out and insult you IN THE MIDST OF A DISCUSSION. That, to me, is (was) fair game. MajorMitchell, on the other hand, like a petulant child, chased me into a thread and attacked me, unprovoked, without him ever being discussed. If you find that admirable, then you are far less of man than you think you are....you essentially are just another self-important bully...or worse yet you are one of the bully's little lapdogs, sitting on the side giggling.

And...again...to MajorMitchell's ludicrous point...and yours, I guess...here it is again, people that complain about another's behavior, and when that person says that they will attempt to change their behavior, they are attacked....So you admire MajorMitchell for saying he doesn't like my behavior, and yet you support him in attacking me when I say I am going to change me behavior. Again...you have no intellectual consistency...

The more we post, the more we help krellin. As long as you keep this thread alive, krellin is able to get his message out. This is his crusade, to spread the message that "if the mods are going to punish SOME for offensive, insulting behavior, then they should punish all." And he is making a list of all the offensive behavior and giving it to the mods, in order to make a point, in order to force the system to deal with what he sees as a foolish position. Telling him he shouldn't complain or that he is hypocritical is completely missing the point of what is going on here.
krellin (80 DX)

@Dammmm.....honestly, I recognize your name, but I couldn't tell you about any specific discussion we have had, therefore I neither like nor dislike you.

Besides, my intention is't to find people I don't like and report them. That would be hypocritical and stupid. And, in fact, I did indeed feel compelled, for consistency, to report at least one action of someone I am "friends" with....so no, if I did report you (and again, not discussing that here anyway) but if I did report you it would have been because of your actions, not because of my opinion of you. That IS supposed to be how this place is moderated, if I'm not mistaken.
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
but he was right. you complain about offense and then insult. if you say offense in the midst of a discussion is fine that confirms it. just because you side with someone doesn't mean you find them admirable.
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
god the problem with these is that you see something you type a response you post it and by the time it's up three more posts are on there XD
krellin (80 DX)

@Deinodon -- lol So I'm on a crusade, you say, to have this site moderated consistently and fairly....and you don't want this cause supported? In other words, you actually prefer a site that is unfairly moderated? Is that actually what you are calling for?

Indulge me....if I am on a crusade for fairness, what part of that, exactly, do you not support?

But it is amusing to see people like you who are upset by a crusade for fairness .... YOU, ironically, make my point, don't you?

And besides, the mods have my message. They don't need this thread to know my purpose.

DammmmDaniel (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
It seems like this thread was just established so that Krellin gets his problems acknowledged I see no need to argue over what Krellin has told the mods, as far as I see it that is an issue for the mods at this point.... to argue over something that is out of our hands is idiotic.
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
i have a question. how many reports/complaints do you think the mods get?
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC
(+1)
@Nyghthype - I complain about an offense and then insult? No...I totally disagree. If you are talking about likening MM's behavior as that of a petulent child - that wasn't an insult, it was a description of a person's behavior. If you have ever eperienced a petulent child, you would understand that it was simply a description.

petulent: "childishly sulky or bad-tempered" you know...
and a petulent child....would be very likely a kid that chases someone into another room to continue a fight, exactly as MM did. So I stand fully by my accurate description of MM....not as an insult, but as a description.

On the other hand, I believe he did come into this thread and say something like "prfoundly stupid krellin" or something like that. but....you don't seem to have a problem with that? EXACTLY my point....
Nyghthype (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
i never said i didn't have a problem with that. that still doesn't change the fact that he called you out.
DammmmDaniel (100 D)
28 Dec 16 UTC
I fail to understand Krellin's problem that he reported to the mods but either way I don't see it as any of our problems until the mods contact us IF they contact us.
Nyghthype (100 D)

krellin (80 DX)

@Nythype - I don't frankly know or care how many reports the mods get. What diffrence does that make? That have made a commitment to moderate the site, and have expressed some loosely defined rules that people can't be offended, and have at least partially acted on their rules. But...you know..."offense"..."insult"....etc....they've done a rather terrible job of actually defining what is and isn't allowed, what is and isn't offensive, and seem to only cater to PC definitions of what is and isn't offensive....and, well, frankly we don't all live in a narrow PC world, and much of what PC-culture does and says is actually offensive of the other half of the country...so...you know...if they want a fair, consistently moderated site, then they really ought to look into ALL offensive language and be protective of EVERYONE. Isn't that what everyone constantly says they want?

So I like this site...been here for years....so why shouldn't I do a little work and add value to the site by pointing out offenses where I see them? Frankly, it is going to be a burden to me, first because I'll have to moderate myself, and second because it will take time out of my fun to have to rat people out...but....you know...all for the good of the site.

The site owner INSISTS that offensive content in the forum reduces the population of the site, and he wants the active user base to grow. Well, you can ""protect" a portion of the population from being offended, and therefore only grow your site by adding from a portion of potentials....or you can protect ALL potential users from being offended, and thereby add to the site by taking from a pool of ALL potential users.

So...again...this is a burden I will take upon myself for the good of the site.
krellin (80 DX)
28 Dec 16 UTC

@Damm...you are correct. It isn't your problem until and unless you are contacted, and I'm not sure why you are so worried about it. But if you are...then maybe you should reconsider your actions around here. Clearly you are acting like someone who thinks he might have something to worry about.

But...more to the point...if/when you see things that offend you...then join the cause....help clean up this site from all the terrible, awful nastiness that hurts the feelings of all sorts of people. And I would say...don't limit yourself to just your own beliefs....but expand your mind, and be a man for ALL the people...and consider the feelings of everyone...the silent who may be too afraid to complain...and if you find a potential offense....send it to the mods. Protect those silent sufferers who simply won't, or don't know how, to make their hurt feelings known.

Krellin most of us that do insult or berate others usually do it out of sheer comfort. WebDip is a fun website for a lot of people to come on and act silly let loose or even have serious (maybe even heated) discussions. I understand what you are saying. To an outsider we must look utterly psychotic. But why take away what so many people love about this website. You talk about a larger players base... but what about the one we have right now? The majority of active players on here are DEDICATED to the website for the most part (BB I'm looking at you jk) we are close enough to joke with each other-at least I feel that way-. I have seen you joke and fool around with some of us...... I realize that some people might "demand" a fair website in which everyone gets a nice moderated environment.. but one thing that makes Webdiplomacy special is the way we communicate with one another. I don't know how others feel but this is how I feel.
