I must admit, Balki's style of defense is pretty convincing of his guilt. Going to stay on Espi, I think, but Balki is steadily moving up. I was willing to believe it was miscommunication, like Espi's stuff on buddying, which he now says is a word he didn't know the meaning of (which I sort of buy), but Balki very clearly understood what he was doing.

@DL, I hope I can prove myself to you by having better actions next turn, please keep following your suspicions of me, you are right to worry.

I think that earning credibility is an important goal of townies (and mafia as well, as I stated at the outset). If our town is effective, then making posts that help us get towards our win condition should earn credibility. That credibility is good (when assigned correctly to townies) because it helps townies lead votes, it avoids getting townies lynched, and it makes mafia (who are artificial and insincere) stand out.

The only way that I have pursued credibility is by doing by best to (1) find mafia, (2) explain why the people I suspect are indeed mafia, and (3) encourage the town to perform better.

To judge me on a comment I made about myself, and about the mafia game in general, rather than by the content of the posts and my activity that I was characterizing is foolish. You have read my contributions. You can see that they are time-consuming, effective, and sincere attempts to help our town perform better. Maybe you disagree with my characterization fo the goal of a townie. Fine. That is all semantics. What matters if you can see from my contributions that I am sincerely trying to help town, or not. Judge me on my content, not on my meta-characterizations (which I still stand by, by the way).

In any event, I think the wagon that has sprung on me at this late stage is very informative. It is now my best evidence against Espi.

Balki unfazed under pressure, especially from a mafia newb, is a strong point for him, and there's only one point against him. I'll stick with Espi.

No, it is not semantics. The goal of a townie is, by any means, to ensure that there are town alive when there are no mafia alive. Earning towncred is secondary to finding mafia, particularly since finding mafia is a way of earning towncred.

Since the guak vote isn't taking off, I would prefer to move to Espi, but at the same time I'm afraid of forcing the tie.

@DL: How is that a point for him? he is not under real pressure yet by the way. With two other wagons at 3 votes and one on 2 votes, his mafia buddies can save him easily

@Phil, I still disagree with you, and I think this may fall in the category of theorems that are accepted as truth on Webdiplomacy, that I don't yet buy, and that I think are actualy interesting questions.

But I think this is academic. Can you not evaluate my contributions based on the content of my contributions, and not on my own characterization of them? That is my suggestion to you all.

The towncred is one of the biggest slips I have seen yet playing on this website. I would advise anyone undecided to re-read the initial slip from Balki.

I still think the case against TrPrado is stronger than Balki's supposed scumslip. I think Balki is being logical in the face of pressure. I just don't think he expected how virulently the town could be when they feel they are being duped by someone trying to earn cred.

Typical D1 in mafia. Since there is chaos near End of Day everybody defaults to the most useless player rather than the scummiest.

How is Espi obviously town? His behavior jumping on the BB-wagon and de-martyrdom are both extremely scummy. All the early discussion about him will reveal useful information, and yoyo and slacker will certainly look worse.

What about the case against me makes it so strong?

Of course, I'm eager to analyze the wagon of someone who is lynched other (than me) too. I'm still hopeful that it's Espi who bandwagoned with you and ND to a target that he's read as town from early on. (though I suppose he can say that he's hedged on me, just as he's hedged on everyone).
