EoG - Rule the World - 18 Don't Try it on a Cell Phone...

Always played Classic, but saw an open seat for a 24 hour gunboat, and figured I would give it a try. I play mostly on my cell during stolen moments, and World Map kicks your ass on an itty bitty screen...

New WebDip Admin: Zultar
Hello All,
Zultar has been promoted to admin on WebDip.
He's done a great job as a mod, which I'm sure he'll continue as an admin.

OK, Nigee. As a generally non-gunboater who occasionally gunboats, I would answer some of your thoughts like this.

1) I do this in all kinds of press type games (gb, pp, fp). Sometimes it pays to just take a chance and throw everything at one enemy. You hope for the best and hope Country C sees you focus as an offer to NAP.
2) No answer to this. Sounds like a worthwhile report if you see this common with specific users across multiple games.
3) Could just be good analysis of the moves and deductive play. Again, I would only see this at issue if it was a common pairing across multiple games.
4) 50 D is a small buy in. Any buyin a new player could do is a small buy in.
5) I would say this is more of the suspicious nature. But I bet the mods need more than just that to make a determination.

Ouyr site is definitely run more like US Criminal Justice than Civil Justice. The mods run off the "shadow of a doubt" rule than the "preponderance of evidence".

I will say that nigee is fairly spot on in his reports. I'd much rather check out some extra cases then miss cheaters because people didn't say anything.

See, Nigee. So keep sending reports and documentation. If the mods are saying you are catching cheaters, I jump on the #nigeeforwebdipmod bandwagon.

I wish we had a tool to analyse games, if I write the functional spec who can write the code?
NigeeBaby (100 D(G))
19 Apr 13 UTC
This is what I plan to do, I need to agree the key metrics.
Feel free to add if you can think of any
1) No of single successful moves vs fail moves
2) No of personal supports - success & failure
3) No of assisted supports - success & failure (by country)
4) No of free reachable SCs in Autumn unchallenged (by country)
These will obviously need to be compared against typical averages but if I can build up this data over a few hundred games irregular game patterns should become obvious and stand out, this is not a guarantee that cheating is taking place as games with skilled players could vary somewhat from noobi games.
Are there any tools that already exist that I can use to help me analyze this kind of thing?
If not I will start with just games won/drawn/survived vs games I lost quickly to see it there is a marked difference in the stats.
Open to ideas, all feedback welcome.....

so what is the difference between mod and admin?
jmo1121109 (3812 D)

Admins have some extra tools to find people cheating and give reviews for anyone who requests an appeal on a case. We also have a bit more ability to help out Kestas when there are site crashes to make sure games aren't processed when there are problems.

It basically just means some extra work to do, and I appreciate Zultar's willingness to help out with the extra workload!

We need more MOD/Admin like Zultar. Look, jimo1121109 has just turned in to a troll on Vdip. He started spamming in the thread, "MeepMeep cannot handle the f-word" on Vdip site. I pointed jimo1121109 as the MOD/Admin on Webdip. What a disgrace to Webdip to stoop so low on another website.

jimo1121109 is bring shame to all other MOD/Admin on Webdip. All of your hard work is being shamed be one individual. And remember, jimo1121109 mocked Striderknight's friend as Striderknight's wife, causing so much confusion.

I recommend jimo1121109 to step down and be humble a bit. The power has corrupted him.

@Nigee
It is disappointing that with there is such a wealth of information that cannot be accessed. There seems to be a limitless number of correlations that an individual can think of, and it would interesting to see which ones the data supported.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't have any experience dealing with anything like this. Does the database need to be manually cleansed of any sensitive information every time anyone requests the database information? Would it be a pain to set it up to be automatic, or would the strain on the servers be too severe? Is it just a norm to not release information if there isn't a great reason to do so?

In this thread threadID=710668 kestas supplies a URL to download the database information from. The URL doesn't have any date associated with it, which, to me, implied that it would be a permanent spot to put the data. Alas, the link doesn't work anymore, so this obviously wasn't the case.

I agree jmo1121109 is worst of the MOD/admin because he have no respect for other player. Because jmo1121109 is MOD/admin on Webdip mean he should not go around on other site badmouthing people. The DEV should implement feature that prevent MOD/admin from posting on other website because it reflect badly on Webdip community. I will write pseudocodes and send to DEV so he can implement because Webdip need to be more mature. Anyway I'm leaving Webdip because Vdip is better even though expanded map not always work site. Zultar should be MOD/admin there because the DEV is better and he is a good MOD/admin he is only mean to people on Webdip not on other site and he only use F-Word some time. I teach kid where I'm from (not China or India) and first thing I always tell them is not use the F-Word.

Personally I don't mind seeing the Mods coming on the forum and getting stuck in and having their say, they are members and players also and most of us like to give them stick if they make a mistake. They should be able to put forward their personal views.
The important thing is that they are seen to be fair when moderating, otherwise they lose all credibility. It is a learning curve for them as well, sometimes they get it wrong but to err is human.
Also the forum seem to love it when they give us details about cheats, how, when, what and why ...... we should have more of that, knowledge shared should be seen as a good thing, especially once players are banned.
That's why I support Draug for Mod, sometimes he cusses and curses and gets stuck in but there is nothing wrong with that, I think he would do a great job.
Let us encourage our Mods to have their say, we soon let them know if we think they are wrong.

Nigee I disagree. The MOD/Admin have a responsibility to site just like the DEV. The DEV write codes and the MOD/Admin make sure people use codes right. I know because I was DEV on my own for many years and read thousands of books. When a MOD/Admin so blatantly troll like here you know they are bad MOD/Admin and should be replaced. Draugar would not make good MOD/Admin either because he uses F-word too much and not respect other players. It people like him and jmo1121109 that make me leave this site for Vdip, which is better.

"I couldn't see anything wrong there. MeepMeep you have a strange definition of trolling. What exactly is your problem with jimo1121109? Please be specific."

jimo1121109 went to Vdip and said that my playing record here is complete 1, 100% defeat. He has no business in posting my play record on this site to Vdip. Why is jimo posting on Vdip anyway? Is he a MOD/Admin there? Is he playing there? No, he is trolling there.

And jimo accuses me to be a troll.

ghug I'm sure vDip will be better for having you as an active player and I wish you the best, it's different strokes for different blokes..
The beauty of the forum is that people are allowed to say just about anything they want and when they realize they nobody gets shocked they tend to grow up a bit and learn to self-police, we can all type the words cfku in any particular order at any time, it only has value if put in some context, swearing and bad language is a means to an end, not the end itself.
I think the Mods should actively participate.
I hope one day we take a more grown up attitude towards cheating accusations, we deal with most other issues on the forum, I'm not sure why they don't think we can handle these issues, not in-game but after a game has finished. Every person involved has a right and an opportunity to have their say.
Maybe you can pop in from time to time and tell us how well you are getting on, you might start a revolution :-) (Still no emoticons, I demand justsmiles)

Germany. For Autumn '01, I moved F(Den)-NOR, and no units supported hold in the North Sea. From my understanding of the rules, England's moves F(NOR) C A(Yor)-Nor and A(Yor)-Nor should not have succeeded. And yet, the move worked. What happened? Thanks for explaining.

A move didn't seem to work?
Hey guys, I gave a support order in a turn that just went, and I can't figure out why it didn't work?

I supported another players unit into a third players territory. The third player had one unit in the territory and it did not have any support. However my support was cancelled for some reason. Who do I talk to about looking at the game in question and finding out what went wrong? Cheers
