I would disagree with that. You talk in an unintelligent (incorrect grammar and spelling, simple words, despite the obvious grasp of English you show here) manner, you are exceptionally blunt with your diplomacy (opening every conversation with "hi lets have peace," not adding much more substance in later turns, and often annoying many of the people around you), and your performance declines severely when you play with players of any quality.

If you consider yourself in the top half to third of people who are registered on the site, sure, but if you compare yourself to players who ply regularly and have been playing for at least a few weeks, I don't think you make that cut.

Perhaps im not that good yet, but ive been playing slightly over a month so im working on it. youve been playing far longer it seems.

You can't really claim to be in the top 3rd though until your GR says you are. Remember that most of the 65% of people your points say that you outscore probably don't play at all.

I feel I probably am too in the top 3rd too, but can't prove it yet (so I just sauce off every time I win a game).

Diplomat's GR won't go up that much, his wins haven't been against highly ranked opponents.

Diplomat, don't get me wrong, you're better than a lot of the people I've played in my limited time here. I just think you're over-inflating yourself a bit.

I just seem to grasp well games such as this. And points are in no means a measure of skill, as a really great player could join and be better than madmarx, and yet still be stuck under a thousand cause everyone starts with 100

I think it takes a good 3-6 months to get a grasp of Diplomacy, 6 months-1 year to start fully understanding it and developing it, and 1-2 years to put those concepts into experience. Obviously, for some people it's slower, others faster, just a matter of personal speed and timing.

Of course im over-inflating myself. Im a huge pessimist so must do so else ill always think and believe ill fail.

I take it back... your GR is in the top 3rd... I'd take that as proof enough... lol though that puts me in the top 15%, which I'm not sure if I buy. Are the lower echelons of players just that bad or what?

yeah thats why (as the wise asswipe centurion1 once told me), "Points don't mean anything GR does." As a judge of skill, it is a much better system, cuz you have to play the best to go up a lot...

Yes, and there are all sorts of intelligence, 10+ of them, of some which im skilled at and others greatly lacking (kinesthetic, interpersonal, ect.)

Most experts agree that IQ doesn't mean much, and I don't think anyone here doubts you're intelligent (that may not be true, but I know I don't). As for you thinking you're better than me, let's see how the 5 games we're currently in together turn out, and how our GRs improve whenever the new ones are released.

ive been on since the summer and am enjoying my first gunboat tourny, a few games where allies are great to find (trustworthy ones)

ive drawn a 17-17 game - which was more rewarding than any win i have got to date

im not a "big player" by any stretch but would love to see world game with "big players" and see how they do. i suggest this because 1901 games require less alliances, trust etc

world games are where u need real trust, diplomatic skills etc

I dont care if they hate me. I tend not to let public opinion bother me. The only thing i fear that may come of it is people metagaming (actively or unknowingly) because they are ticked at me.

If it is unknowingly, it isn't metagaming. Metagaming requires intent.

For example, Metagaming: I hate that Dip33 kid, I'm going to go after him whenever I can. Active, and with intent.
Not Metagaming: This idiot's press is really abrasive, I'm going to kill him. (Which might be unknowingly singling you out. )
