A player (to use the term lightly) is losing and refused to unpause. He shoud be banned from future games for such poor sportsmanship, and an over lack of character. MOD's can you help?

Meyers-Briggs Personality Type Indicator
I can't remember if I've started a thread about this here before but I personally am a huge fan of their personality test. You can find a pretty good one on facebook called myType and I'm sure if you google it you can turn up something. Has anyone else ever heard of it/taken it? I am an ENTJ (My guess is that most of the people here will be N's and probably NT's at that). If you have heard of it, post thoughts on it or the different types and post your own aswell!

Refuse to UNPAUSE
I'm in the Game World War V. One of the players had a problem and asked for a game pause. Now everyone is ready to play again, but a player on the verge of being defeated, refuses to UNPAUSE. How can we resolve this?

Government spending and taxes don't belong on the same axis as the amount of market limitation. What do you think?

And you can't blame everything on Aliens. Think man, they worshiped the stars right? So doesn't it make sense that they would lay out their pyramids to look like the stars? That seems MUCH more likely to me than aliens. After all, I can go look outside, see the Belt of Orion, and then build 3 houses that are designed after it. Does that mean aliens helped me?
Oh yeah, how the heck would mountains on Mars look exactly like a constellation, that makes no sense too.
drano019 (1003 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
And you know what? I bet somewhere on earth, there's mountains or volcanoes that look like Teotihuacan too. Does that mean aliens again, or simple chance?

You used chance as an argument that aliens exist. Out of the billions of stars, somewhere there has to be life. I agree with that. But then you're shooting down chance in this situation. Which is it man?
@Drano: But they couldn't look at Mars. So how do you explain the mountains on Mars looking exactly like a constelation? And how do you explain the airplaine statuettes?
"I bet somewhere on earth, there's mountains or volcanoes that look like Teotihuacan too." I extremely doubt that.

"Oh yeah, how the heck would mountains on Mars look exactly like a constellation, that makes no sense too. "

Now you're getting it! (or maybe not I'm not sure) See, this is what we call a coincidence. The mountains on Mars looks like a constellation. Clearly coincidence right? So logically, if the people of Teotihuacan based their pyramids on the stars, and the stars look like the mountains, then we have...............the pyramids look like the mountains!
drano019 (1003 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
Unless you're saying that aliens made the mountains looks like the constellations.......
"You used chance as an argument that aliens exist. Out of the billions of stars, somewhere there has to be life. I agree with that. But then you're shooting down chance in this situation. Which is it man?" That's a false dichotomy. You're assuming I have to believe in all chance, or no chance. But the odds that aliens exist are very high. The odds that a group of mountains would like Teotihucan is very low.
@Drano: There is no such thing as coincidence, except on very small scales.
drano019 (1003 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
God man read my post! Here's let's go bit by bit.

The constellations looking like the mountains is chance right?
drano019 (1003 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
P.S. You have no proof that there is no such thing as coincidence.
@Drano: What do you mean by chance?

"And speaking of the pyramids at Teotihuacan, did you knoiw that there were more pyramids and other things arranged in concemtric circles around the pyramid of the sun, and the distance between each circle is proportional as the distance betwwen the orbits of the planets in the Solar System? And that Stonehenge also had concentric circles with distances in between that are proportional to the distances in between the planets of the Solar System. "

Source please. If this confirms anything, it is that many ancient civilizations, especially Mesoamerican ones, placed extensive importance on astrological movements and astronomy. The planets involved in the architechture probably only involve the planets visible to the naked eye, which is all of them except Neptune (and Pluto if you're nostalgic). It is not difficult to calculate an approximate orbital radius using only simple mathematics, such as by recording the length of orbital period (which is a very common record amongst ancient civilizations) or using a parallax, and many other methods. This is not to mention that the proportions between orbital radiuses of different planets are not so strange that they could not be easily replicated by coincidence.

"And did you know that the layout of Teotihuacan looked at from above resemble a constellation, and a group of mountains on MARS! There is no way this is all pure coincidence."

Actually, this is exactly what I would call pure coincidence. There's probably a group of mountains on Mars that looks exactly like a cluster of freckles on my ex's left ass cheek.

Not meaning to influence this thread at all (yet), but the History Channel has long since lost whatever claim it had to being a credible source on anything. When I see HC shows on topics I know something about, there are so many inaccuracies I can't stand to watch for more than a few minutes.
drano019 (1003 D)

CM - What I am saying is that just because the constellation looks like the mountains doesn't mean someone put it that way right? Basically the mountains formed and the planets just happen to be in a pattern that looks similar right?
Thucydides (864 D(B))

Is CM serious lol
@Chrisp: Source is history channel, and the planets were all of them (not sure if Pluto was included)

CM - An answer for my question?

"@Chrisp: How do we really know if the block weighed 22,000 pounds? "

LOL! You're doing skepticism wrong! Did you even watch the video? There's video evidence, with many witnesses including a journalist. He demonstrates the principle on the small scale, and then does so on a larger scale. The principles would still hold even if the block were 10,000 pounds, or 5,000 pounds. Seriously, it's simple mechanics man. Force over a distance.
@Drano: I believe the aliens made it that way as evidence to them being here. The odds of mountains on Mars looking like a constellation is so low (I believe) that the odds of aliens doing it is higher.
@Chrisp: I couldn't listen with sound.
drano019 (1003 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
Wait, wait, wait. So you REALLY believe that Aliens placed the mountains on Mars to look like a constellation?!
Chrispminis (916 D)
11 Aug 10 UTC
Well it would help if you had a real source. The history channel is hardly scientific. Other than their WWII programming, a lot of it is pseudoscientific, dealing with the occult and paranormal, and/or conspiracy theories. Please at least link to some crappy alien fanboy site with their 1998 style HTML so I can at least debunk it.

@CM - "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." "God created man in his own image."

Chrispminis (916 D)

"@Chrisp: I couldn't listen with sound. "

Seriously, even without sound you can watch him and I'm sure you can figure out the techniques he's using. Here's how it works, for rotating large weights he puts a small stone underneath. To move large weights horizontally he puts two small stones underneath and rotates them twice, which results in a small net horizontal movement. He repeats this over and over and gradually moves the large weights significant distances. To erect the giant pillar, he makes a sort of see saw, and he swaps weights on the ends and jacks it up by putting wood in the gaps created as the pillar changes position, slowly but surely raising the vertical height. When it's high enough, he digs a pit on the side that he's going to erect the pillar, and lets it seesaw into the pit and he then hoses the surrounding soil to soften it so that the pillar erects itself with its own gravity.
@Draugnar: Not necessarily. The Catholic Church has recently stated that extraterrestrial life doesn't contradict the Bible. Perhaps God created man on other planets. Perhaps it's not in the Bible because God never told anyone about it.

@CM " read the book "Chariots of the Gods"?" Saw the move back in the 70's as well read the books, makes for a scifi plot but that's all. I've read about UFO's since the 60's. Decades ago I've concluded none are little green men. If you want to watch the History Channel watch "Engeering an Empire" and hear what the real archaeologist think, and not those nuts, or opportunist out for easy money.
@Chrisp: But did the ancients even have that technology. According to the History Channel, they didn't even have the wheel yet. (If that's wrong, tell me)

Though the definition of awesome is highly controversial, I believe it is safe to say that Time Lapses of multi-directional clouds, where two layers of clouds are going in opposing directions, are quite awesome. See below:

Let's Roleplay Here For a Bit...
We seem to have most of our philosophical discussions come back to the God Question. But I think we misunderstand those with different views often. So--Christians/Jews/People Of Any Faith, answer the following questions as if you were an Atheist or Mitigated Skeptic (ie, "We just don't/can't know yet) and Atheists/Skeptics, answer as you think a Person of Faith would. You may ONLY answer as "yourself" and/or criticize/correct other posts AFTER you yourself have posted.
