I don't think I'll get enough points in ten days to join. However, I would like to join in future Bulgarian Opens.

"I want to increase the number of things to play for, on all levels. Plus, it's a relevant selection criteria. If you don't have these points chances are you've played primarily low pot games - and these, with the notable exception of tournaments, are not that good. I want more experienced players for the test - increases the chances for success :)"

Then again the whole problem with points is that it doesn't accurately reflect ability, so this condition will knock out some able players from the competition.

Having a high point value requirement is a good idea. It makes for another level of depth in our decision-making. Since we will also be playing for an alright amount of points, we are less likely to throw a game simply to stop the guy who's "in the lead" in the tournament.

I wish I could delete my posts. I'm sorry, it's 5AM and I've yet to sleep... And I completely forgot that these games will be anonymous....

That being said, if I were a "good" player, I would want to up the ante on my games. Not entirely sure why winning games shouldn't equal more points.

You are correct Ghost - some good players will be left out - but my goal is not to gather all good players (not going to happen anyway judging by the interest shown so far) but to make sure all players I have are good.

Noting recent discussion, if the ante is dropped for any reason, I'll be willing to join. Until then, I will make every effort to conjure up the points from live games. Wish me luck.

If I make it to 202 , may I still join? I have a world game gunboat that will give me over 202 when it ends. I'm not sure when that is though...I can link you the game and tell you my country (yep, accuse me of cheating in an anon gunboat) to prove it. However, it may not end in time, depending on when you want to start the second games of the Bulgarian Open.

At the speed I'm getting players to sign up it will take some time. May I just make a point that each time I see you write you have less points than before :)

Well, I am willing to play in this tournament, will probably be really interesting.

About the rules, I like the idea of a survive giving you the same points of a draw (or even more) and this will probably make most of games ending in a solo in some way. But I am not sure if this will make the game better, as most people when a solo is not very likely will just play to get a strong second place. Not exactly sure if this is what Ivo really want.

You have a point - I am hoping thus won't be the usual case. Ideas are welcome.

I'm looking at this but can't quite get my head round the PPSC part. I am genetically programmed for WTA.

Okay: understand the PPSC bit.

I will ask the question that messed up the early leagues for me: if a player gets a country multiple times in his four games, what is the decision regarding playing that next game.

I would like to consider 3 times as any one country. Should the game be scratched and re-allocated, and would an affected player be allowed to accept the game?

i.e. someone gets Austria three times, can they expect the third game to be re-allocated; or, a player gets France three times, can they say 'yes please'?

*Facepalm* Start your own league and quit whining about everyone else's flashman.

@ flashman - who cares? Drawing pieces from the box gives you the same odds. Have you ever played with a real board and real pieces?

Flash has a point - coutry selection is important - and it's easy to ensure people don't get the same nation multiple times by a simple restart - I think there's even some software tools available (seen it used in the leagues).

For four games it should not be allowed fir someone to be the same coutry more than two times - I like it how it is in the League - think we can reuse it.

The PPSC is just an idea - not sure how it will work - but the WTA concept also has flaws, so I'm actually hoping for a better result this way.
