Also, it's not as if you have a huge amount of points either... What happens if you can't pay up? I'm thinking this is probably smelling of something that helps bring out the roses, if you get my drift...

I have permission from the main man, (whom we all know to be a gambler) to run a book. (in truth I've played so badly recently, this is my only way of getting some diplomacy points )

On the legality side, it is perfectly legal to bet with something that only carries a notional value.

@cgwhite, how could I ever not pay up? I will just off-load some bets if it gets too rich for my blood.

also @cgwhite - odds are fixed but the book closes when the first games start. I may consider running a secondary market as the games progress if there is any interest.

Because betting is supposed to be a side issue, it should have no bearing on the result of the action taking place. I know you will argue that you will play to win anyway, but what about if greed got the better of an opponent and he said to you, "look Ghostie, I will let you win if you agree to split your diplomacy point winning with me?" I just don't want this game tainted but such incidents - no betting by players on their own league period.

No proxy betting either.

If greed got the better of an opponent and he said that, I'd kick him out of the leagues.

Oh, can I bet that someone in my league wins (other than me) and do everything to throw the game his way? I see betting scandals coming on!

I was relegated from the Premier League and only re-instated when the bribe was received and three players withdrew... I therefore believe that the odds for me are unrealistic. Perhaps 12-1 would be better?

Can we do doubles and triples? For example, winners of two League Groups or winners of three etc? And how about final positions from 1st to 7th? I like exotic bets.

Those drugs are in short supply. How much are you willing to pay?
