Lol, I dunno whats wrong with me, I want to have sex, and there are plenty of girls I know who are up to it. I just have that weird emotional wall that I can't get over lol. I've done research on sex regardless just to be safe incase for some reason I get a long stick and am able to pole jump the wall.

I really don't see why so many different religions seem to have a problem with two people sharing a little pleasure. Could someone explain it please.

i like this thread. its been quite mature too.however it seems we have some members of the community scared of a mature and open discussion of sex. if it was graphic or dirty then i would understand but what in this thread do they have issues with? an open acknowledgment that condoms are safe ?

xcurly, go for it! stab your ally, win the game and get the GIRL!

@amonkey- why in the world are you ALWAYS posting stupid ass comments when every other post in the thread is serious. If you want to say something in a thread you can atleast contribute to it or leave the comments to yourself.

I dont know why parents (atleast in america) are always trying to block minors, such as myself, from hearing about sex and other related topics. 5th grade was the first time the mentioned anything and now its going on to halfway through 9th before anything else will be added on to what was previously said 4 years ago. 6th, 7th, and 8th grades were all about drugs. You think though at that time the would start informing minors about the consequences that i know half my grade are already at risk to getting.

@curly - i have a lot of respect for what you've written and think you should stick with your convictions. i hope you don't decide to try to have sex b/c someone said they'll lose respect for you, or b/c lots of other dudes are pressuring you to do it. i think sexuality is really healthy and good, but at your own pace, and boys in our culture are always being pressured to have sex, while girls always get looked own on for it, which is BS.

@sean - what exactly is the "friend" trap? is that any time a guy and a girl are friends, if the guy thinks the girl is hot? that's how you msg reads to me, but maybe i took it the wrong way.
Invictus (240 D)
17 Mar 09 UTC
A friend trap is when a girl looks at you as a friend only with no possibility of developing something more.
sean (3490 D(B))
17 Mar 09 UTC
yes, the friend trap is something a lot of young men go through at high school and university, liking a girl, getting close to her and hoping for a relationship to grow out of the friendship, a classic mistake that men make, you end up being the brother at best or maybe even typecast as the gay confidant! xcurly, you probably wont end up with any of these girls as your ultimate partner, be honest ( i detest people lying to get sex) and get some practice in. then later on when you find her you know what you are doing.
Sicarius (673 D)

I would like to point out the absolute absurdity, as a few other actually have, that calling sex innappropriate, something that every living thing has always done and always will do in some form, something that is absolutely necessary for the continuence of life on this planet, (not to mention they had to do it to make the children they find it so innappropriate for) but not casting the slightest dissent about a game of wanton violence, lies, manipulation, and trickery, as well as the hundreds of threads that have been about extremely violent subjects.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

the penis, huge and veiny and throbbing, the vagina moist and tight, and nipples, assholes, tongues and all manner of body parts used for pleasure is as natural as eating and breathing and shitting.
what is not natural is acts made for the express purpose of causing others not pleasure, but pain.

talking about sexual relationships is taboo? I remember quotes (not exact of course) form other threads that include graphic depictions of jews being shot in the face, rioting, starvation in third world counties, extensive conversations about weaponry and their killing power, talks about the crusades, the spanish inquisition, nuclear bombs, talks about every war from the pelopennisian (sp) to operation iraqi freedom, waterboarding, police brutality, CIA rendition sites and secret prisons, totolitarianism, beating liberals with sticks, gay-bashing, terrorist attacks, guns, the gulag, gas chambers, and genocide.

I can only say this. are you fucking kidding me?
Sicarius (673 D)
17 Mar 09 UTC
the friend trap sucks.
there are ways out though.
just put the relationship in a different context, make them see you as a possibility. and I know all thats common sense but I cant give suggestions if I dont know specifics

As the original "objector", I have to admit that this thread was definitely not as graphic as I thought it might possibly get; I said it "could get fairly graphic", but as Sean points out, one can hardly take issue with acknowledging that condoms can make one safer.

To trim101, I'm actually a great believer in freedom of speech, but (if you're American), the First Amendment protects you from government interference in / retaliation for your speech. Private websites / organizations are free to permit or forbid whatever form of expression they wish. And while my personal tendency is for websites to err on the side of allowing expression, they should by no means be forced to allow all forms of speech: for instance, Disney's websites/forums for kids should be allowed to remove content that may not be appropriate for children. Kestas would be perfectly within his rights to delete this thread. That said, I am not (and was never) advocating that a moderator should kill it, just that we should let it fall off the bottom of the page.

Some people seem to be claiming that threads about sex are harmless compared to some of the other threads we've had on this website. That may be the case; I haven't read all the posts in each thread. But if there really are threads that might be harmful, perhaps that's an argument for letting them die instead of saying the not-so-harmful ones should survive simply because they're not as bad as the worst threads.

Finally, there are the ideas that:
(a) there's absolutely nothing wrong with threads about sex.
(b) If you're old enough to play diplomacy, you're old enough to talk about sex.
People have different views about sex, and given that young children are impressionable, might choose for their children not to be exposed to views that they think are harmful. Even if parents think their 11-year-old child is old enough for some discussion of sex, they might not want to expose the child to the full range of sexual behavior immediately. Even if you disagree with them about what precisely is appropriate at each age, you can respect their parental rights and allow them to make decisions for their family. And so while I personally find it weird that many Americans have no problems with exposing their kids to violence, though they object to any form of sexual discussion, that's their choice.

I agree that this thread has not been particularly objectionable. My initial post was based on concern for a direction it could take; thankfully, it doesn't seem to have gone that way. But there are people who are uncomfortable with the thread, and honestly, I can't see any affirmative reasons to have this discussion on the phpDiplomacy forum. There are plenty of places on the internet where discussions of sex are appropriate and encouraged; if all else fails, one can create a blog and invite comments. If you really want this community to comment, you could post a link to your blog, for instance.

I can't see any affirmative reasons to have this discussion on the phpDiplomacy forum:that goes for every none phpdip thread in here, i refuse to let this thread die, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few :p

So, opinions on sex, you say?
It is my personal view that anything that brings you pleasure is a good thing. So long as it is consensual. If it brings pain to another(Without consent) , it is automatically bad. I know this view is rather black-and-white, but I don't really see any way to complicate matters any further.

Onar (131 D)

So, the vulcans ripped-off america?
SHAME!!!
But staying on-topic, what are vulcan beliefs on sexuality?
@Onar: They don't get any for 7 years, but they'll kill if they can't get it then.
Imagine if sex didn't feel so indescribably good. Imagine if it didn't feel bad, but simply didn't feel good either. Would you be willing to go to all that trouble, all that effort and exertion, an average of 60 times, just to start a pregnancy?

Honestly, under those circumstances, I think the human race would die out inside a few generations.

Governments would have to make it law that married couples had to have sex regularly, to stop us dying out.

The churches would be pushing the message "Go forth and multiply - your God commands it". They'd be encouraging people to have sex instead of trying to stop them enjoying it!
Onar (131 D)
17 Mar 09 UTC
But enjoyment is th problem, A great comedian, of whom I can't seem to remember anything but this quote, once said, regarding religious beliefs regarding sexuality: "If it feels good, stop." I think that sums up a lot of this belief rather nicely.

Draw In A Gunboat Game?
Is it considered acceptable by gunboat rules - in general - to vote for a draw in one where you think its appropriate? It doesn't REALLY seem to count as press, but it does signal some sentiment.
