Is the premise "all men are created equal" necessary for a Western republic?
See above. I have thoughts on this but will save them for a little while later.

Please be mindful of the additional etiquette requests I am making in the next post.

Underrepresented minority groups.
I think that when people have been singing the praises of both vanilla and strawberry milkshakes, the truly greatest milkshakes have fallen to the wayside. Chocolate-Peanut butter shakes are the best and you all need to see the error of your ways.

Anyone available to cancel a game?
I don't know the protocol or how often this happens, but the site crashed, and now Silent Partners-3 is back up, some countries' moves processed and others didn't. I watch all the games in this series (I have set up the games). I hope we're not expected to continue under conditions like these, but i'm open to however people usually handle this.

Resulting Fallacy
This article is about decision making in poker, but I think it equally applies to Diplomacy and well lots of other things too. I think a lot of players, including myself, fall into this trap of believing everything that works was a good decision and everything that doesn't was a bad one.

Brainstorming on getting more no-press live classic games
Arg! We had 6 for a no-press (i.e. no-chat) live game tonight, no cigar. And there haven't been a lot of no-press Many years ago, my FTF Dip crew had a similar problem ... some wanted and had time for no-press, others didn't, so we couldn't get 7 ... and we came up with a neat solution, which I'll share in a minute. But first ... anyone have advice on how we drum up support for a live no-press game?

If you go to my profile, you'll see I am not a member of the mod/admin team. My views are only representative of me, and not the site.

"Part Time WebDip Dev. From time to time I will have mod/admin status. It's only for development tools. Please feel free to contact me directly with bug reports."

I will direct your attention to the rule you are quoting though.

"Do not make threads or posts that are abusive or degrading toward another member, group of members, or other groups of people."

If someone posts they are a Nazi, then they are inherently making an abusive and degrading statement towards other groups of people (the ones they tried to commit genocide on and still believe to be lesser people then themselves) and in my view, should be silenced, or if the claims continue, removed from the site.

And as the co-author of the rules, I'd say I'm in a better position to judge their application then you. But hey, as always, contact the mods with any concerns.

As for favorite members:
Zultar for continuing to ensure the site keeps running and working to improve it everywhere he can. He does a fantastic job ensuring that anyone willing to put effort into helping the site is able to do so.

A_Tin_Can for his continued support in the background with various site issues and improvements. And for his continued help with the github page.

DemonOverlord and CommanderByron for creating the new mentor program that gives new users the chance to better integrate into the site and to learn the game.

And Jackbot, for the still best forum post of all time "Hi, This and 11 other accounts I control were created to fill slots in a large game..."

It's a 3-way tie for my favorite user:

- Vashta, because he's always writing me nice PM's, even though he always forgets to click 'send' and I never receive them;

- Goldfinger, because I disagree with almost every move and analysis he's ever made, and yet his wild strategies make him completely impossible to eliminate in any press game, so he ALWAYS makes the draw (proving that this game of Diplomacy can be played many different ways!); and

- MadMarx, because he actually does send me friendly PM's. I know he's just setting me up for an in-game stab when we finally get to play, but it feels so good to get nice messages from one of the highest ranked players of all time that it's worth it (kind of an adrenaline rush of flattery, appreciation, excitement, and fear all in one! haha. Maybe how it would feel if a Super Model wanted to date you but you knew she would eventually dump you and leave you broken--hearted -- but so totally worth it while it's going on! ;
