What the hell? I lost a shitload of gunboat games but still went up one spot???

Gunboats have a weighting of 25% of a normal game on the Overall GR, so it's quite easy to balance out a few GB losses with a couple of decent FP results. I expect you dropped significantly on the individual Gunboat GR.

your GR did fall, it's just that inactive player fell off the list so you got bumped up 1

Mine went up 500 places why? If it was that one BB Invite game - then GR is truly broken.

Does anyone have the math involved in this because I am struggling to see how my GR fell so low and then 1 or 2 games can take me from 1000+ to 500 in a month.

Well when you're that low, a game or two of doing well shoots you up. Everyone starts with a base 100 real GR points. Your GR points went up by about 24 real points, which took you past all the sub 110 newbies and now you're sitting where all the "average" players. So it'll be a little bit harder to rise from where you are now.

If you were to repeat your performance this month and raise another 24 GR points, it's take you to rank 350 from 597, which isn't nearly a big of a jump as it was from 1103 to 597 that you did this month. If you repeat your performance again the following month, you'd only go from 350 to about 220. Not to mention with a higher GR means you get less points from draws, so it'd be harder to get the 24 point increase that you original saw in the first place.

Long story short. It's a bit a competitive bell curve. You were on the easy part of the curve and now it'll get harder.
