Poetry opportunities..?
There used to be great organizations that worked through my school for poetry in youth, but now that I actually have an appreciation for poetry it seems like there aren't as many opportunities to perform or compete with poems.
Is anyone aware of prominent high school poetry organizations?

Is this game getting less popular?
I remember using this site years ago and I felt I could always find games to join, or if I made a game it would fill up in a couple of days at most.

Is there another site that people are using to play? It still seems like this one is the best at least from my quick google.

Must See Movie Reccomendations
So I like movies a lot and one of my goals in life is to watch every movie that is worth watching. I've seen most of AFIs top 100 and I have a to-watch list that is 168 films and counting. As such, I was curious if anyone here has some must-see movies that I may not know about.

Music major?
I've considered pursuing a music major.. is the outcome worth the cost? It seems like the stereotype for music majors is that there's no real future.

The Arab Spring was a horrible failure
Can you name any countries that benefitted from the Arab Spring? Libya is literally a slave-state, Egyptians overthrew one leader only to overthrow the next, Iranian arab spring failed, Syria is a bloodbath. Is there a single positive that came from this movement?

Why no love for Sum of Squares scoring?
Personally, I'm not a big fan of Draw Size scoring, because it rewards the power that hung on with one dot the same as the 17 SC power that was a hair away from the solo.

What I've noticed is that almost every new game is Draw Size Scoring. Is that just because it's the default option or are players here just not fond of it.

The Paris Uprising of 1832 was a horrible failure
Can you name any characters that benefited from the Paris Uprising of 1832? Éponine is literally and figuratively heartbroken, Jean Valjean overcame Javert only to die of old age in the next bloody act. Is there a single positive that came from this musical?

Who Are The Real Dinosaurs In Congress?
Republicans do a better job of promoting younger members, in part because they limit, to six years, the length of time a member can be chairman or chairwoman of a committee. Democrats do not impose term limits on committee leaders or so-called ranking members, the top slot for lawmakers who are in the minority.

"I am frankly pretty surprised that brainbomb's thread a couple nights ago only resulted in a locking, for instance. It was pretty blatant targeting and according to our own rules should probably have resulted in a silence, especially as it wasn't the first time this happened."

Since the mods have heard this criticism sooooo many times, including from KansasBoyd, we almost always give people a warning if they have never been warned or silenced before. If the offense is absolutely terrible, we might forgo a warning, but in this case, we gave brainbomb a warning. We do this by email instead of giving out public warnings. As such, the thread was locked and brainbomb was warned but not silenced because he had never been warned or silenced before. If he violates the forum rules in the future, he would likely be silenced. Just because nobody told you specifically that the problem was addressed behind the scenes doesn't mean that the problem wasn't addressed at all.

The thing about that thread is it was a word by word story, so who was responsible for targeting Kansas?
Brain had no way of knowing how the story would go. For all he knew It could have ended up being "Kansas is a swell guy"

The thing about the final solution is it was a step by step process, so who was responsible for targeting Jews?
Hitler had no way of knowing how the process would go. For all he knew It could have ended up being "Semites suffer no ill effects from breathing gas"

Point being he had no sense of humor at all. He couldve laughed and actually joined the story and made himself loveable. Seeing as how hes banned we can just remake the thread right? Is there a rule about making fun of banned losers?
CroakandDagger (718 D)
24 Nov 17 UTC
Eh, I try to keep from posting too regularly, TrPrado. I've had a fair amount of time the past couple of days, but i've been silenced in the past for writing things that were not controversial.

The idea that brainbomb did not know what they were doing is laughable. And their provocation led to the banning of their victim. No wonder they're riding high on their smug self-satisfaction right now.

BUT:

Based on everything I’ve seen from Kansas he absolutely was personally the reason people attacked him. I made fun of him because he treated literally everyone on this site like shit. He acted like he was the sole purveyor of all the worth in the world, and deserved every critique he got for it.
CroakandDagger (718 D)

My assessment of the Republican party is that it is only unstoppable for as long as Democrats remain as elitist and unpleasant as they have been for the past few years, blind to problems that they don't want to admit exist.

I thought many members were rude and condescending to KB and the other players in the SOW thread, standing behind forum rules to tell KB to shut up and take it.

Thus, I supported KB's decision to defend himself on the forum as long as he didn't talk about the game, and as long as he was only responding to rude attacks. I even sent KB a PM of support and encouragement for the game.

Octavious, Eden, and Goldfinger are right, there was a lot of poor behavior all around on this one. Constructive criticism is fine, but it does not need to be rude and heartless. That definitely does not foster a welcoming culture for new players.

When KB, himself, started viciously attacking anyone who didn't 100% agree with him, he lost my support. (I only saw the SOW thread and game, so I did not follow other threads.)

In the end, I support Zultar's decision, and I appreciate that webDip does not tolerate hateful discourse.

I hold conservatives to a higher standard than liberals usually (because I'm conservative) so when someone like Kansas gets triggered over something like being called a snowflake when he literally just spammed another thread with "liberal snowflakes liberal snowflakes x20" he needs to take a break from the internet anyway and stop being a dick to everyone.
It's unfortunate he was a jerk that happened to be conservative.
TrPrado (461 D)

“I thought many members were rude and condescending to KB”

Well then you were missing the half where he was condescending from the beginning of his participation on the forum.

I am not an American and most of the political debates here are just informative for me and I don't judge someone from them. I hadn't spoken with Kansas prior to SoW and during the early phases we were allies and talk to me nicely. when he started to believe the world was against him I talked with him and for not standing on his side I became an enemy too, he spoke badly to me in public and worse in private. I am sorry the whole thing ended to this, but as it went I can fathom how he'd stay after all these things he said.
