A Series of Unfortunate Events
After re-reading a Series of Unfortunate Events (Which is still just as wonderful as it was eight or so years ago) I got very caught up in the Beatrice side story. It's very confusing and cryptic, and was wondering if anybody had there own opinions on it?

France's Macron statutorily raped by his high school teacher, quite possibly
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmanuel_Macron#Personal_life

He was also a member of the Socialist Party. Will the opposition be able to take advantage of these things? Runoff is on May 7th.

so before you come and say he is doing bad crap keep in mind that he has done tons for families in america. also he didn't cause the terrorists in the middle east or the refugees. that would be the 8 years obama bombing the shit out of them

@irelandball: "96 percent of trump supports would vote for him again while only 85 percent would vote for clinton again bud"

So you're saying that Trump might get a majority for the first time during the next election?
TrPrado (461 D)

And Le Pen's voters are enthusiastic and will vote for her again. But nationalism is a disaster with Brexit and a joke with Trump, so people are encouraging everyone who voted for others to back Macron, and he has a steep lead far beyond what Remain and Clinton had.

Trump will win with over 51% in 2020.

The Democrats are going to lose big in the Senate in the 2018 midterms. They may pick up one or two house seats, but Republicans will hold the House. Why? There are ten red state Democrats up for re-election (bye bye).

VA governor race (my home state), the Republicans will in in 2017

Osoff (or however you say his name) will lose the runoff election

Screenshot this! Okay, now all of you stop getting me in a political mood. I am trying not to talk politics because it gets me riled up.

The only one of those I'd bet on this early is the Ossoff race, where I'd make the same wager you are

I checked out @Irelandball's poll. Of the Clinton voters who would no longer vote Clinton, the vast majority would still not vote for Trump. Rather, they would vote for 3rd parties. That being said, a mulligan election would probably inspire lots of stay-at-homes to come out and vote this time now that they see what's at stake (e.g. Obamacare).

Clinton is going to run again in 2020. We all know she is.
TrPrado (461 D)

She's lost a primary and a general now. Even if she wants to run, the Dems should know not to run a losing record like hers.

No dispute on Hillary, but if Le Pen wins, what do you think she will do? Will she do mass deportation? How does one force Algeria to take in people who've never lived their before?

she wants to run but i think the democrats want to avoid another William Jennings Bryan and election of 1900. it didn't work out then either

She didn't just lose a primary and a general. She lost a primary to a black man that nobody had ever heard of whose middle name is Hussein and last name sounds like Osama seven years after 9/11. She lost a general to the least popular candidate in American history that had no political experience, no political fervor, and a base that has an easier time yelling over people and beating people up than having a discussion. She is a stain on the Democratic Party and I cannot fathom why they wouldn't dump her and her overrated husband off a cliff after this past election.
TrPrado (461 D)
24 Apr 17 UTC
He waited 8 years to run again, and that was 50 years ago.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

Nixon didn't lose to two should-be-impossible-to-lose-to candidates either.

ND (879 D)

I wouldn't rule her out. I am not saying this to be a jerk or anything. I really believe she wants it and she is making herself public again. She has a big fundraising operation, political institutional power (the Clinton name/former presidency) and support from the DNC. Do you really think they wouldn't back her if she ran?

CAPT Brad (40 DX)
24 Apr 17 UTC
this thread is fantastic. bo sox as a nixon booster, who would have thought?!?
TrPrado (461 D)

I absolutely think that. She wants it for sure. She's wanted it for decades. But the base is going to refuse running her again.

Brad, I hate Nixon with a passion. Even without Watergate, I hate Nixon. I hate just about everything he did, including the mass of environmental laws and social reforms he passed, mostly because, had he not been dumb enough to get impeached, he would have repealed every single one of them when he realized that a scraggily old hag that couldn't keep up with the times such as himself wasn't going to win over those voters. He was exactly what politics in this country is not supposed to be.
ND (879 D)
24 Apr 17 UTC
It's possible that an element of the base rejects her. She might not win the primary, but it depends on who the Democrats put up.

Joe Biden (will be 78 in 2020)
Bernie Sanders (will be 79/80 in 2020)
Elizabeth Warren (will be 71 in 2020 about the same age as Trump is now)

These are their big names. If it's not one of these politicians then it will have to be a no-name and that is hard to predict right now.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
24 Apr 17 UTC
She doesn't have as much DNC support as she used to, ND. Keith Ellison and Bernie Sanders are huge figures with a huge following. In this past election, they were reactionary, only relevant because Clinton was such a bad candidate. For the coming one, they'll be there from the very beginning of the process.
CAPT Brad (40 DX)
24 Apr 17 UTC
He was exactly what politics in this country is not supposed to be.

you mean like Bill Clinton?
ND (879 D)
24 Apr 17 UTC
@Brad: If she ran again it would be like Thomas Dewey. The Republicans put him up in 44 and 48. He lost the Republican primary in 40 and was considering running again in 52.

Hillary Clinton is the Thomas Dewey of the Democratic Party if she runs again.

I was curious if Whales and Dolphins are capable of playing diplomacy. Either ftf or online. We could devise a helmet using donation money to fund marine biology experiments on these creatures. Study what openings they like; study their convoy choices. What do you think?

Civil disorder after 1 NMR?
Just an idea - I think countries should go into immediate civil disorder on 1 NMR so a new person can take over right away and keep the game going. The current system of a CD after 2 NMRs means a country + game can be ruined before a new player takes over.
