You do realise that England is part of Britain, right?

Saying you are English but not British is like saying you are German but not European. It makes no fucking sense.

How does it not make sense? Scotland is 'part of Britain' and yet the SNP wants them to be an independent country. They play Flower of Scotland not God Save the Queen. It's the same thing. And plenty of nationalities in Europe don't feel particularly 'European'. It's a form of identity not just a geographical concept.

English is a nationality, Britain is only a geographical location, but thanks to constant brainwashing by the media and governments, the myth of the British has taken hold.

It's fine to call yourself Scottish or Welsh of course, but English? Nah you must be a racist bastard if you do that, despite it being our country.

It's all part of the political plan to wipe the English off the map, pretend we don't exist and hope we all go away...well I'm afraid the British apologists are in for a shock, as not only are we not going anywhere but we WILL regain OUR country.

Yugoslavia did the same thing with Serbia and the USSR did the same thing with Russian identity. (You're seeing the effects to day of Khruschov's decision to hand over Crimea with no Russian input).

A weak Serbia meant a strong Yugoslavia, was the theory. The Piedmont/Prussia type states like England and Serbia are forced to do this in order to appease the other countries in their union. Of course they will never be appeased.

Politically the problem we have is the Tories want to keep the British myth going as it suits their imperial flag waving mentality, while Labour need it as without the Welsh and Scottish votes it would be extremely hard for them to ever have a majority government, hence their fondness for mass immigration with which to dilute the English.

And I notice that Lord Badly has answered none of my questions about the EDL. So I state them again:

1. The EDL is not a political party. It's a sort of pressure group. It absolutely isn't a party and has even declared itself not to be one. You display your ignorance by describing it as a party.

2. The EDL has no official membership structure, it only has "followers", and there is no official means by which a person can apply for formal membership of the EDL.

Please explain your claim that the EDL is a "party" with "black members" in light of the above. Please tell us exactly how many members your EDL has, and how many of them identify as non-white. Thank you.

Clearly not Jamie. You're confusing me with yourself, who supports nationalist street thugs in Ukraine. I'm opposed to narrow nationalism of any kind. But English nationalism is a logical reaction to the fatuousness of Scottish nationalism. If people are going to prattle on about self-determination then they can't complain when the chickens come home to roost.

Good. Me too. We're on the same page. If you read your comments though, you did appear to be supporting Badly's position. I was born in Scotland and oppose the campaign for Scottish independence, for what it's worth.

I can see where the English working class is coming from, is all.

The EDL does not represent the English working class. It is a tiny fringe group. If you see 50 people at an EDL demonstration in Newcastle this week, it's a safe bet that about 40 of them were at the EDL demonstration in London last week, and the EDL demonstration in Birmingham the week before that. They have a small core of nutcase followers, mostly football hooligans, and they bus them about to make it look as if they have supporters in lots of communities.

They have 160,000+ supporters on facebook. But anyway the point is not the EDL specifically but the ideas they represent. There can be denying that parties like BNP and UKIP especially have experienced a rise in popularity over the past decade (although of course the BNP is fragmented and dead, but the point remains). There is also no denying that they're getting the bulk of this support from the working class of England.

Followers on facebook is a meaningless number. You can buy facebook followers.

I'm not sure about UKIP's support. I think quite a bit of UKIP's support comes from dis-affected middle class former Tory voters. It is true that the BNP's support was mostly working class. I am glad to see the BNP collapsing, that's for sure.

Quite close? 2 of their 16 members of the executive committee (who have long ceased to be members) once voted in favor of it. If that counts as quite close then Everton have been spitting distance from winning the Premiership for the past decade. The EDL Is not a party, the BNP has never been relevant, and UKIP is nothing like either.
