Why shouldn't they be allowed to comment here? They aren't *paid* to be mods. they are members just like us and free to post as they wish. I just wish a couple of them would rmemeber that, when they are posting about an action they are about to take, it is an official post and quips and sarcasm are not professional. They need to switch hats between personal and mod work postings, keeping mod postings professional at all times.

I may be wrong but from your statement above you have implied that the only way of being chosen to be a moderator is by posting on the forum. My question was why they need to have a strong forum presence to be a moderator, maybe not phrased great but my impression was that to become a moderator you should state your opinion or argue or discuss etc on the forum as much as possible until someone took notice of you (yes slightly exaggerated I know)

@doc - Yeah, I thought you were asking why they needed to post after becoming mod. You were asking (if worded better) why forum posting should be a criteria to being selected. And it may not be. You and I aren't privy to the inner workings of the elite.

Its not necessarily a requirement, dr. It is just one of several things we use to judge a person's personality, how they think through problems, how they deal with vitriol, etc.

So on one hand we look for rational people who conduct themselves well and on the other hand we look for people who have an excellent understanding of the game. Back when Tom and Mapu were on the team, every mod was top 50 GR (mine has since slipped unfortunately). Its a balance between the two.

I volunteer to be an unbiased mod that won't silence random people for no reason as a form of exacting my vengeance.
