"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

@Jack Klien -- it's so good to see yet another illiterate, moronic Liberal step into the cow pie.

Yes, there WAS an election, and THE REPULICANS WON THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

Despite the Libtard Authoritarian fantasy wherein the President rules as supreme emporer, we have a Constitution that DIVIDES power, first between three branches of government, and then within two houses (for the Congress/Sentae) and between a group of people (the Judicial)...the purpose is to make sure no one asshole can ruin the country without balance.

So - the largest single unit of government - the House of Representatives - which arguably, therefore, is the single unit of government that BEST represents the people's wishes (given the greater diversity within the House) - has LEGALLY/CONSTIUTIONALLY blocked the maniacal wishes of the President.

You Libtards often love to bury you head in the shit and pretend that the Republicans haven't put up vote after vote after vote to fund parts of teh government, and your bitch in the White House and his lapdog Reid won't pass funding for all those being hurt.

So fuck off, you disengenuous, lying pieces of shit. Nobody buys in to your lies.

@Santa - 'The grass is federal but it is tended to by a private company so you can walk on it. This is such and uninformed conversation... "

Again, whether you know it or not, you jut advocated for the superiority of privatization...
No I didn't, I'm stating a fact, in no way does that logically make any statement about the superiority or inferiority of privatization.

So they have control of one part of Congress. That is half (I feel the need to spell things out so you don't get confused).

The Presidential election had as a primary issue healthcare, and the ACA in particular. Romney said he'd repeal. Obama, obviously, would not.

Obama won reelection. If the American people overwhelmingly didn't want this bill, then they'd have kicked Obama out of office.

So yeah. I'd say that is a wash. The people are obviously not screaming to high heaven to get rid of this bill.

So therefore, the House, in an effort to coerce the rest of the duly elected government, is willing to burn the whole thing down.

You, as apparently a supporter of this, also would rather see the country default and the economy collapse than see one law be enacted.

Krellin, you're a terrorist in thought if not in action. What does it feel like to hate Obama so much that you'd rather destroy the country than bow to the facts... he was re-elected, the ACA is law, and the Republicans are being petulant children.

Much like yourself.
dipplayer2004 (1110 D)

Nothing is burning down. 83% of the government is operating. Life is going on just fine, except for those things I cited above, where Obama is trying to make this a painful experience for the American people.
Maniac (189 D(B))
07 Oct 13 UTC
Krellin - if the house best represents the people why the hell are they asking for obamacare to be delayed. Surely the people either want obamacare or they don't. I'm not attacking either side here, just trying to understand the debate.
I can understand every one besides the inn and private homes. I'm almost positive that there are private businesses open on military bases. Why that isn't true of private lodgings and businesses on nps lands I don't know. The farm was partially funded by the nps so it had to close no matter what the local people offered as are the lookout point and the Iwo Jima memorial. You shut down the government, you should be ok with doing without things the government maintains.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
@Maniac - You are ill informed. the House has voted for the repeal of Obamacare probably 40 times - wish is per the wishes of the majority of Americans per current polling data.

I'm not sure why all you good Libtards are operating under the notion that a law that is passed must be right and never be changed or gotten rid of. So all you good Libtards are in favor of slavery? All you good Libtards are in favor of women not voting? Becuase that used to be the law fo the land, too. So, since you tink Obamacare *must* exist as is forever and ever, you clearly think old laws That we got rid of were erroneously repealed…and therefore you must want to reinstate slavery and deny women the right to vote.
krellin (80 DX)

Change it then. If you have the political support to change it, do so.

Oh wait. You don't. So instead of making it an issue in the next election, they hold the rest of the government hostage. Terrorists.

Again. Petulant children.
Abolition of Slavery and women's vote were codified with amendments. You don't even need amendments in this case, just win an election.

There is NO precedent to what is being done by the house. Demanding that a law that has been passed by congress upheld by the Supreme Court and signed by the president be changed in order to run the government is something no group has ever done in the 200+ year history of the country and the motive and capability to do so was always there.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
@Jack - you are *such* a fucktard. If Obama and Harry Reid have all the power becuas they won the election, then they should just go ahead and fund whatever they want.

Oh...wait...CONGRESSIONAL REPUBLICANS won their elections/re-elections, and by the design of the Constituition can bock Obama/Reid's plans.

The game goes both ways, you fucking illiterate shit sucker.
krellin (80 DX)

@Santa - keep spewing Liberal media talking point lies. It just makes you look like that much more of an illiterate boob.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
@Jack Klein - the Congressioanl Republicans desite what the lapdog press and shti sucking morons like you say, have offered to fund all but the smallest portion of the government. Obama and Reid are teh onces refusing the NIH funding to treat cancer-ridden children. So Obama and Reid are the hostage taking terrorist, asshole. The funding has been passed by Republicans.

It's really unfortunate that people like you are so easily brain-washed by the media. You present yourselves as intelligent...and yet every time to mindlessly repeat the nonsense you here on CNN or some other Democrat lapdog media outlet, it just makes you look like mind-numbed,hateful robots. It's realy pathetic - it would be nice if you have the intellectual integrity to honesty debate things....but clearly you don't....which is why you are shit sucking morons.

@MaryAnne - Thank you. I always just assumed the Marines because, after all, we are the President's military honor guard and work with the Secret Service to see to his safety. We also provided air services via Marine One to and from Air Force One and we are the only band that plays for him exclusively. Thank you for enlightening me so politely.

@Jack - It isn't terrorism because it isn't motivated to strike fear into the general populace. It is a poor negotiating tactic but not terrorism. So please use the correct term, blackmailers.
It's not talking points it's historical facts by a student of history. Despite all the veto battles that have occurred in us history, a budget has never been held up for to coerce the removal of an existing law, do you know why? Because there are specific rules on how to repeal laws and overcome vetos. The budget was clearly not intended for use in invalidating congressionally implemented laws.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
But there is nothing *illegal* in using it for that purpose considering the budget *funds* this particular PoS legislation.
No there is nothing illegal, only immoral, unethical, and setting a disastrous precedent. There is a reason people didnt use this option in past standoffs. It is a nuclear option . It creates a precedent that every law disagreed with by the minority can be reconsidered by holding the government hostage. How can you ignore the absolute chaos that is going to perpetually nurture in us government.
Draugnar (0 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
That is actually not true. It only sets that precedent for laws that require funding to enact. Other laws that don't need funding would not be able to be used as negotiating points.

The federal government hasn't exactly been a bastion of morality since before I was born. I don't know why you would expect politicians to be moral now.
All laws of substance in some way require federal funding.
Jack_Klein (897 D)
07 Oct 13 UTC
Sorry. Blackmail and extortion.

And yeah, Krellin, offering to fund everything piecemeal is the same as passing the "everything but the ACA" strategy.

You can't take the country hostage and expect to be treated like an adult.

Petulant child.
Jack_Klein (897 D)
07 Oct 13 UTC
Actually, upon review, I think it is terrorism. Its designed to cause enough fear and possible damage through insane brinkmanship that the President and the Senate will cave to the nutjob Right's demands.

So strike that. Terrorism is perfectly apt. Its hostage taking, and its ethically bankrupt.

Man, I can believe I find myself missing Senator Dole and the elder Bush. They at least weren't insane.
krellin (80 DX)
07 Oct 13 UTC
So Jack Klein thinks OBAMA is a terrorist, because he refuses to fund the government with the provided package of bills that fund everything completely with the exception of a single item. Jack Klein thinks that Obama and Reid are hostage-takers, holding Federal Employees hostage over the details of one single law...which, incidentally, is in effect already without the funding, jackasses.

Jack Klein and friends also think it is OK for For Obama to change the implementation ofa law by fiat -- declare by the power of the Emperial Presidency that certain people will not be subject to teh law...but if Republicans try to do the same via legislation, they are wrong.

If the law is the law is the law, then why are not Jack Klein and his terrorist Democrat friends *angry* that Obama applies the law inconsistently, and has vacated portions of the law for his political allies?

Jack Klein hasn't had a consistent thought in his life.

The Republicans have passed 26 funding measures since the Senate last held a vote. The Democratic Senate isn't agreeing or taking action on any funding whatsoever. Appropriations must originate in the House of Representatives so as a matter of fact the Senate hasn't agreed on House appropriations at all.

"The Senate, meanwhile, has all but shut down itself. Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, hasn’t held a floor vote in nearly a week. The House has voted 26 times since the last Senate vote."

@mendax - You are either ill-informed or intentioanlly stupid. Republcians have ppassed bills to funds all of the governmetn except Obamacare, which they would like to negotiate with Obama about - BECAUSE Obama has by executive fiat declares that SOME Americans are exempt from his law -- republicans would like to see the law implemented equally for ALL Americans. The Senate under Harry Reid refuses to bring individual funding bills to a vote -- so the funding is there for the government, and the negotiating table is open by Republicans to discuss the fair and equal implementation of Obamacare...but the Democrats won't pass teh funding bills, and won't negotiate for equal treatment of all under the law.

Democrats are terrorists and hostage-takers, and everyone knows it that has a shred of intellectual integrity. (Which excludes most of the blowhards aroudn here who drink their koolaide from CNN and HuffPo, etc.)
Emac (0 DX)

John Boehner is insisting that the government delay the individual mandate for a year. President Obama already (illegally) delayed the employer mandate for a year. The executive branch faces a lawsuit over the legality of arbitrarily changing the employer mandate without congressional approval.

The San Jose Mercury News ran an informative article on the catastrophic increases in health insurance costs for some staunchly Democratic California families. $10,000 in increased premiums for one family of four.
http://www.mercurynews.com/nation-world/ci_24248486/obamacares-winners-and-losers-bay-area
If Obama said he would veto a debt ceiling increase unless the Republicans banned guns and passed single-payer health care, you guys would be on here rightly calling it blackmail and economic terrorism. Because that's what it is. The Republicans are doing exactly the same thing.

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well
