Bills are 3-0. Another huge comeback. They beat the Patriots for the first time like in a decade. I'm pumped.

Ron Paul 2012!
come on, the guy's just a total boss. get the troops out of afghanistan, iraq...hell, everywhere! germany, south korea...etc. abolish the minimum wage, federal income tax, and basically every department except defense, state, and justice (he'd probably keep veteran affairs and treasury, not sure about those two), legalize marijuana, free trade, balanced budget, no draft, states' rights, and END THE FED. Liberty/Revolution!

According to the UN, the average life expectancy in 2300 is just over 100. Using a best-fit curve and assuming healthy living and the fact that Julius is upper class, I'd say he can easily live to 120, making him around making him around 57 by today's standards. So, he's not that old.

I wouldn't consider Kat much younger than she would be present day.

we have somewhat of a problem - france basically cleaned house once joan of arc showed up.

she entered the scene 20 years before the wars end and from there on out the french just won battle after battle.

its a lot less convincing that the monk would want to save her just to save her. i'm trying to come up with a reason he would...

maybe we should drop joan of arc and have him go back to agincourt or something else? i dunno. or make him.. english? its too bad - the "i love joan of arc" story arc would have been great

anyway you can think to salvage it?
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Perhaps he had a divine vision that France was to rule England again one day and Joan of Arc was to lead them. Was England already Protestant at that time? Perhaps his vision was 'sent by God' to save the 'heretics' and bring them back into the Catholic church by saving Saint Joan

Have we made a "cliff notes" for the story? Are we going to do that after all the character profiles?

I feel we could end up with a really bad story if we don't have any guide to adhere to.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Yes, that's the idea.

I've had very little opportunity to read much of this thread, but I'm going to set up the google doc today for the charcter profiles.

Awesome... Just don't put up the Roman profile yet, it's going to be changing on Monday evening.

awww damn i was really into the idea that we wouldnt know the ending until one of us wrote it.

i mean, i was under the impression also that when you submit one its under review and can be rejected if it fucks up the story too much too though
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Well yes, Thucy, you are right. We're not going to know the ending completely... what I understand Abge to be referring to is a general outline.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Let me rephrase that... a general timeline of major events that should occur so as to keep everyone on the same idea. The story itself should unfold as we write it or else there is no purpose in doing it as a collaboration.
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Here's the link to the google doc as it stands right now, anyone can veiw and add comments, but no one but me can edit until I specifically add them.

Thucydides (864 D(B))

but, i mean, if you know the outline you kind of already know the plot points. i was thinking maybe we would just set up their problem and everything and then say "go"
FirstApple (100 D(B))

I'd like to think of it as a road map that we're going to make. We're not necessarily going to say which highways to use, just that in our trip from Los Angeles to New York, we definitely want to make a stop in Denver, Houston and Chicago. However we get to each place will be played out by each writer in his portion.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
That's a really boring second half of your roadtrip.

Houston to Chicago? Chicago to New York?

Just shoot me.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Hahahaha, you KNOW what I meant!
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
I never said you HAD to go straight to New York from Chicago... if you decided to fly to Paris and then take a cruise through the Artic Ocean and then down to New York... that's your perogative as a writer. Just that EVENTUALLY we need to arrive in New York. Do you see where I'm going with this or have I convoluted the idea too much?
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
16 Sep 11 UTC
Don't mind Thucy, he seems to be slowly going insane.
Thucydides (864 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
no i see what you mean i just dont like the idea of knowing the story ends in new york.. if you follow me.

for instance i dont want to decide in advance who dies... or whether the goal is achieved, or whatever
abgemacht (1076 D(G))
16 Sep 11 UTC
@Thucy

If we want to do this with no guide, I think we all need to be wiling to carefully think about what we write and carefully read what other's have done.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
16 Sep 11 UTC
@Abge

That IS a requirement for sure... you have to read what has been done and stay the course logically OR build in good reasons why things change the way they do. I don't mind if we do it without a guide that demonstrates the entire trip... As long as we all know where the next major stop is along the way. The stop after that can be decided once we get there.

Hillary 2016, Anyone?
There was a time where I REALLY loathed Hillary Clinton, but the job she's done as Secretary of State...she's EASILY been the most effectual person in the Obama administration...and hey, I liked the 1990s, and while I didn't like him as a kid, as an adult, I do appreciate Bill...

Would anyone else here consider voting for her in 2016 (or even make her the favorite?)

Carry a grudge or friendship
I wanna know, would you or have you carried a grudge from one game to another? Like you want to destroy this particular player because he betrayed you in a previous game?
Likewise, have you experienced carrying a friendship or alliance from one game to the next, like you'd send a message to a player saying "wanna be friends again :-)" and other player replied "sure, worked so well last time..."

This website used to be run on Dreamhost, and even though I dissaproved of it, they are great for small-time or personal use. They're running a special right now, $9 for an entire year. If you've ever thought of having a website, a blog, or even just [email protected] for your emails, right now is the time to do it.

Check it out: http://www.dreamhost.com/r.cgi?1197759

Help Wanted: Critique My Personal Statement
I'll be applying to medical school in the next few weeks, and would appreciate any feedback you all have on my personal statement. It's a very rough draft, so any thoughts are welcome. I'm probably about 125 words short of the maximum right now (The maximum is actually 5300 characters, and I'm around 4000)
