vdiplomacy login problems
Apparently my username doesn't seem to exist on vdiplomacy. I have tried contacting the mods about this but I have received no response months later. Does anyone here know what I can do, or if I am allowed to create another account identical to this one on vdip?

Private game needing players
Hey guys me and my friends are trying to host a private game of diplomacy because we have a 24 hour train ride. Our skill levels are mixed with many of the players only playing their third or fourth game while a couple of us have been playing for years. If anyone is willing to join gameID=181450 let me know and I'll give you the password. The only stipulation is you need to be able to chat on kik messenger. Thank you!

How do you end a drawn game when 1 player doesn't vote to draw.
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=180889#gamePanel
I am playing France, the Italian player won't vote draw. Nobody has moved positions for maybe 4, 5 or 6 moves. It's a pain to keep entering the same set of orders, it is obviously a draw. What to do?

"There are technologies out there that would make border maintenance more cost effective than a wall, as they would be cheaper and more efficient."

A wall is the only permanent solution. A democratic President who succeeds Trump could get rid of those extra security measures, but he/she wouldn't be able to get rid of the wall.

"Maybe they should get new jobs."

They shouldn't have to.

@leon: Berlin had a walk... Doesn't mean nobody was able to get rid of it.
@ND - please do. The Bloomberg article I mentioned lists each and every lawsuit Trump has filed or has been filed against his companies. He's won more than he's lost, but looking at the details of some you're like "well that feels like Trump won on a technicality". The being said, no businessman - especially in real estate - will be squeaky clean

@leon - I want to give you a few rhetorical questions regarding your sentiments on this statement "They shouldn't have to."

Should farmers throughout the early 20th century have been forced to close up shop and move to a city? Millions upon millions of farmers were forced to quit the trade simply because they were not needed anymore. The mechanization of farmwork dramatically decreased the number of workers needed to produce the same amount of food. This is a case of a change in production technology forcing people out of a job.

During this same time period, should farriers, horse breeders, stableboys and others have lost their jobs? The advent of the automobile made the technology they serviced obsolete. A more modern example would be of Kodak - the company never really adapted to digital cameras. This is a case of the outdating of the product causes job loss.

What about the case of GE, which moved it's headquarters from NY to Connecticut for tax reasons. Should those workers in NY have been fired if the company did it to save money?

"A wall is the only permanent solution"
Especially when it starts to crumble. Especially when people burrow under it to get to safe houses that already exist north of the border. It's neither permanent nor a solution.
Chaqa (3971 D(B))

I don't know about a physical wall, but I do think border security needs to be increased and we need to solve the illegal immigration problem. I don't so much care that people are here, but I care that they're escaping punishment for breaking the law.
principians (881 D)
25 Jul 16 UTC
Chaqa, you won't be able to solve the illegal migration problem just with security measures.
It's like fighting drugs, as long as there are sellers and buyers, it won't matter how much mony you waste trying to burn the fields or jail the capos. Cartels just keep growing, and you'll always have acces to a dealer.

Trump isn't an amazing businessman, he's a speculator. When business is good, the rising tide lifts him with everybody else. When a crisis happens, he bails out and loses.

One of his best properties, 40 Wall Street, rents out office space to mostly criminals who use its prestigious address to scam people. It has a high occupancy rate because as fast as they get arrested, there's always more to take their places.
TrPrado (461 D)

(From Clinton Cash ND linked):
"Paul Kagame is actually friends with Bill Clinton."

And Malik Obama, whose support Trump is flaunting everywhere, described Muammar Gadaffi as his best friend.
A lot of things described in that documentary are far more typical of American aristocrats than a lot of people realize, especially any American business that does any sort of business in developing nations. How much of this do you expect to change under Trump?
Fluminator (1500 D)

Which helps...connect...some dots to the conspiracy that Trump's run...was meant to give Clinton a win.
There's a lot of evidence for that and it's a bit scary to think because it shows this whole election to be a sham.
Congratulations, America lost :)
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

This election is a sham whether there's a conspiracy or not. The Republicans put up 16 awful candidates and nominated one that wants to tear the country to bits and make him and his friends a lot of money while the Democrats conspired to nominate their establishment candidate that already lost in 2008 over a successful veteran Senator that will continue to do great things while handing control back to the Clintons, meaning that either the Bush or Clinton family will have run the most powerful nation on the planet for all but 8 of the last 28 years.

"Berlin had a walk... Doesn't mean nobody was able to get rid of it."

The Berlin Wall separated Berliners from Berliners. The Trump Wall will separate a first-world country from a third-world country.

"Should farmers throughout the early 20th century have been forced to close up shop and move to a city? Millions upon millions of farmers were forced to quit the trade simply because they were not needed anymore. The mechanization of farmwork dramatically decreased the number of workers needed to produce the same amount of food. This is a case of a change in production technology forcing people out of a job.

A more modern example would be of Kodak - the company never really adapted to digital cameras. This is a case of the outdating of the product causes job loss."

The blue collar workers today have not lost out to technology but rather to foreign countries with low cost of labor. Your comparisons are false equivalencies.

"What about the case of GE, which moved it's headquarters from NY to Connecticut for tax reasons. Should those workers in NY have been fired if the company did it to save money?"

The governor of New York should have stopped it, since his job was to protect the interests of New York residents.

"Especially when it starts to crumble. Especially when people burrow under it to get to safe houses that already exist north of the border. It's neither permanent nor a solution."

I didn't say it was foolproof, but far fewer people will be able to come through underground tunnels than through the open borders that exist today.

"It's like fighting drugs, as long as there are sellers and buyers, it won't matter how much mony you waste trying to burn the fields or jail the capos. Cartels just keep growing, and you'll always have acces to a dealer."

I like your logic. A problem is difficult to solve, so we should just stop trying. By your logic, as long as there is money, there will be thieves, so we should stop wasting money finding and incarcerating them.

"Not even the ice, magical one, tens of meters deep and 700 hundred feet high will provide effective soultion vs. white walkers... You know nothing LeoND Snow"

I'm worried, principians. That statement seems like the utterance of someone high on ice.

"Isn't Trump paranoic protectionism a much bigger threat for free markets than Hillary's continuism?"

I am for domestic free markets, not competition with foreign countries that devalue their currency. Hillary is also NOT continuism. Every Democratic President has only moved America further and further left.

No, the arguement would be to reduce the reason people want to come to america - for example, improve the living standards in mexico and people will want to move there. OR destroy the living standards of the American working class and nobody will want to come to america (Trump for President?)

You can follow the arguements in Friedman's book, 'Hot, Flat, and Crowded' and see that jobs moving overseas is making the world more equal and thus is the actual solution to the inequality which leads to people moving to the US...

But i haven't read that book yet, so i'm not really sure what it says.

which left wing policies of past presidents would you like to see repealed?

Your logic is again flawed. Following you logic, the solution to thievery is to either make all thieves rich so they won't be motivated to steal OR to make everyone poor so they have no one to steal from (Clinton for President?)

"which left wing policies of past presidents would you like to see repealed?"

Gun control, welfare, affirmative action, increased taxes, refusal to enforce immigration laws, pandering, etc.
