Bills are 3-0. Another huge comeback. They beat the Patriots for the first time like in a decade. I'm pumped.

Ron Paul 2012!
come on, the guy's just a total boss. get the troops out of afghanistan, iraq...hell, everywhere! germany, south korea...etc. abolish the minimum wage, federal income tax, and basically every department except defense, state, and justice (he'd probably keep veteran affairs and treasury, not sure about those two), legalize marijuana, free trade, balanced budget, no draft, states' rights, and END THE FED. Liberty/Revolution!

I've never tried public press really. Still, we should try to keep this thread for our story. There's still a lot of work to do guys.

I'm going to work on writing up a bit of a back story for each character. If anyone has any input on that, I'm definitely open to it.

not really. lol.

obviously i will probably have some kind of criticism of your backstories but go ahead if youre game. it seems i have the role of the negative nancy

Negative Nancy is a 'very' important role Thucy. It also seems to fit you well, LOL.

Name: Selina Dawes
Age: 19
Date of Birth: July 17, 1833
Place of Birth: A Manor outside of Kent, England
Zodiac Sign: Cancer
Family History: She is the sole daughter of colonial banker and investor Edwin Dawes and Mrs. Sarah Dawes. Mr. Dawes has spent the past five years in India working on a major investment project (Selina has no idea what it is exactly nor does she care) and Mrs. Dawes has become wrapped up in the gossip of the family and neighbors. She is, however, making preparations for an arranged marriage to a British Major Jacob Hensley who has recently returned from operations in Russia. She finds him revolting in manner and appearance though maintains her outward appearance of courtesy out of respect for his military service. Selina has been primarily raised by nannies and household servants with only recently coming to ‘know’ her mother because of the marriage preparations though her mother spends more time with those who are preparing the ceremony more than she does with Selina.
Personality – Interests / Dislikes: She likes reading, particularly romance fairy tale stories and also finds horses to be fascinating which she rides (sidesaddle) on many occasions out into the countryside to get away. She has been spoiled in material items by her family in receiving the latest in fashions and whatnot as she wishes and generally treats the staff with an arrogant manner though it is due to her own insecurities as she feels that she is not as pretty as society might demand of her (even though she has turned down many suitors before her mother stepped in and arranged this marriage). She abhors violence and guns as well as dirty people of the earth (farmers, factory workers, etc) as she fears their filth will infect her cleanliness (she bathes daily and sometimes twice, compared to many who would go days without bathing in that time period)
Education History: She is fluent in reading and writing English and French as well as Latin. Her math skills are basic and history is a bunch of memorized dates to her with no connection to her life. She knows how to play the piano though.

Name: Byron Fitzgerald
Age: 22
Date of Birth: August 23, 1990
Place of Birth: Bronx, NY
Zodiac Sign: Virgo
Family History: Middle son of a single African-American mother who worked two jobs to support her children, Byron grew up in a rough neighborhood where he and his brothers were involved in gang activities. Upon losing both of his brothers, he was sent across town to Brooklyn where his great-aunt lived to receive a fresh start and stay safe. He cleaned up and got a job in a hotel while going back to school online to get a business admin degree. His great-aunt recently passed away leaving him the house and a miniature fortune (enough to finish school and cover the necessities for a couple of years). He was on vacation in Europe when he was swept away by the machine.
Personality – Interests / Dislikes: He likes reading novels, particularly science fiction and history dramas where he can put his mind to work. He is like a sponge, absorbing everything intellectual that he can, hungry to learn more, asking questions of those who knows more than he does. He also likes rap music and tries to do ‘clean rap’ but hasn’t been very successful. He gets up in arms about racial and economic slurs and people who are full of themselves.
Education History: He didn’t graduate high school, dropping out in the ninth grade like his brothers before him, but after moving to his great-aunt’s place, he got his GED and began working on his bachelor’s degree from an online university. He is actually well-versed in a lot of off-the-wall knowledge though some common knowledge does escape him from his lack of formal education in a normal environment.

I really like Byron's background and why he came to be (the Europe trip) in our little tale. Selina should probably come along and be caught up when she was out riding so we can find a use for her horse in the story. One more prop to play with.

Good, I'm glad you like it. I'm working on Faustus now.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
06 Sep 11 UTC
Name: Faustus Domitius
Age: 23
Date of Birth: Quintilis (July) 26, 57 AD
Place of Birth: Colchester (Kent), Britannia
Zodiac Sign: Leo
Family History: The third son of seven of a roman legionnaire and his Briton wife, Faustus was ‘bred’ for roman legionnaire service. His father treated him and his four brothers as soldiers from the day they could begin walking. See Education history for further explanation.
Personality – Interests / Dislikes: Being a soldier and taught as one since the age of three, Faustus holds little in the way of personal interests other than fighting and enjoying the spoilages of war (women, food and coin). He enjoys a good hand-to-hand combat even for fun and likes to show off his brute strength. On the other hand, he is also extremely loyal and dependable, doing exactly as he has been instructed to the very letter that it was given, willing to flail himself upon his failure to complete an order.
Education History: His father taught him one-on-one combat with sword, pike and wrestling. He is extremely loyal to the end and fears no death. On the other hand, he understands little in the way of philosophy, music, history or sciences. A true loyal brute.

Before I continue, what YEAR are they all meeting the medieval monk in and getting stranded or going to afterward?
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Sep 11 UTC
I was kind of hoping our soldier would have acheived some level of advancement so he had some strategic thinking skills as well. Maybe not General, but at least the ability to lead an advance party, sort of a captain through colonel in today's ranks.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
06 Sep 11 UTC
The problem would be the age though, wouldn't it? A roman soldier had to prove himself for years before he made even minimal advancement, especially if he wasn't born of aristocracy from Rome (from which the generals and officers, etc were chosen). If you'd rather, I can write him that way but it seems like we'd be pushing circumstances to have such a 'high up' in our group. You guys let me know what you want.
Draugnar (0 DX)
06 Sep 11 UTC
I'm open for anything, but if we ever got to "rallying the troops" against the monk, it would be nice to have a frustrated Roman leader (even just an NCO sargeant equivalent) getting frustrated by the lack of coordination for a little humour.

But how are we going to handle language barriers, especially with an ancient Roman warrior who clearly will not speak English or French.
FirstApple (100 D(B))
06 Sep 11 UTC
I was thinking of that when we first made this character. But that's why I made Selina fluent in Latin!!!!
WardenDresden (239 D(B))
06 Sep 11 UTC
Perhaps one or more of our scientists speak Latin? I don't think that would be too unlikely, especially since my neighbor studied Latin just last year. Either that or Danielle, if you guys think our future people wouldn't want to study Latin.

Hillary 2016, Anyone?
There was a time where I REALLY loathed Hillary Clinton, but the job she's done as Secretary of State...she's EASILY been the most effectual person in the Obama administration...and hey, I liked the 1990s, and while I didn't like him as a kid, as an adult, I do appreciate Bill...

Would anyone else here consider voting for her in 2016 (or even make her the favorite?)

Carry a grudge or friendship
I wanna know, would you or have you carried a grudge from one game to another? Like you want to destroy this particular player because he betrayed you in a previous game?
Likewise, have you experienced carrying a friendship or alliance from one game to the next, like you'd send a message to a player saying "wanna be friends again :-)" and other player replied "sure, worked so well last time..."

Help Wanted: Critique My Personal Statement
I'll be applying to medical school in the next few weeks, and would appreciate any feedback you all have on my personal statement. It's a very rough draft, so any thoughts are welcome. I'm probably about 125 words short of the maximum right now (The maximum is actually 5300 characters, and I'm around 4000)
