I don't think anyone feels joy. However, there are a lot of people suffering a megashitton more than anyone in Florida. See Bangladesh, Vanuatu, South Sudan, Syria. and "we" have done a lot to make that happen and aren't mostly doing much to keep it from getting a lot worse even though we could. And yes, it is going to get a lot worse. So, one might feel a little hope that people recognize that yes, their irresponsibility will come and bite them in the ass. Like this Milo guy who points and laugh right up to the moment is destroys HIS house. Now suddenly he cares. Good. That's a start maybe.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

Someone saying "Couldn't happen to a nicer guy" in response to them saying "my house is gone!" is feeling joy. That is who.

Not surprising, but I'd think that's a lot of cold water to cross slowly. Might be a solid tai by the time it gets there, no?
damian (675 D)

I feel no shame admitting that I'd feel joy if Milo suffered. Differences of viewpoints has little to do with it. The man is a literal stain upon the earth. Unfortunately his house wasn't actually destroyed instead he was just using the storm to gain more publicity for himself. See also his comments about Haiti as it was being hit by Irma. My heart goes out to those actually affected by the storms. I have nothing but burning hatred to Milo and the cockwipes who defend him.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
And why do you think that man "is a literal stain upon the earth"?

Because he has a difference of viewpoint with you?

Whatever happened to "I don't have to agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"?

God forbid that people just disagree with one another and respecting their right to free speech without casting them as criminals that should be locked away.

Everyone must conform to the same way of thinking. Conform!
Fluminator (1500 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
Milo is a stain on the earth because of his tactics, not necessarily his view point.
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
Because he advocates for pedophilia and attempts to profit off the misfortune of others.

What happened to the days were we could condemn someone for being a shitty human being, without people getting their hackles up? People are way oversensitive these days.
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
And heaven forbid I use my free speech to condemn a human shit stain.
It must mean I'm anti-free speech, and I want to lock him away. /s
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
What happened to the days where you could condemn someone for being a shitty human being without taking joy in their misfortune.

And it has ZERO to do with his tactics.

If his viewpoints were something you agreed with, there would be no issue with the tactics.

While his comments are certainly bizarre in regards to his sexual views, I think it would be an extreme exaggeration to call it advocating pedophilia in a true definition of the word.
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
"What happened to the days where you could condemn someone for being a shitty human being without taking joy in their misfortune."
Hahahahaha. There has never been a time where that was true. The vast majority of people aren't saints. Watching someone you hate suffer is cathartic.

If his viewpoints are something you agree with than you too are a shit stain.

If by his viewpoints you happen to be referring to free speech, there are a thousand better advocates who aren't abhorrent human beings. Anyone who chooses to back Milo is choosing to back all his other toxic views as well.

Milo thinks sex with 13 year old boys isn't pedophilia, and the that laws should be changed to reflect that. Except, it is pedophilia, which is what makes him an advocate for it.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
Watching someone you hate suffer and taking joy and pleasure from it, makes you no better than the person you hate.

No one ever stated that Milo was the best advocate for Free Speech.

No one is "backing Milo" other than to back Freedom of Speech

That is an epic fail in logic leap.

When exactly where those days?
Ogion (3882 D)

Ironic as hell, given how many Americans were dancing with glee when Osama Bin Laden was killed. Turns out people object to this kind of think when they agree with the guy

For my part, I do take a certain grim satisfaction from seeing climate change deniers get swept up in the impacts they help unleash. These people are incredibly callous at gambling with the loves of billions in their arrogance, which makes me a whole lot less sympathetic when the fate they'd offhandedly inflict on others befalls them.

Of course, a lot of innocent people are also affected, which is why their attitude sucks in the first place.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)

"When exactly where those days? "

Everyday for me.

And for someone to try to logically equate a terrorist who was responsible for killing thousands of humans to someone who has only said things that many disagree with is a whole new ballpark of ridiculousness and juvenile exaggeration.

Kinda ironic seeing the most arrogant poster on the site whining about others arrogance, but I've grown to laugh at that usual amount of hypocrisy.
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
Weee! I'm a bad person. Shocking. I already knew that.

You're backing Milo, you jumped into this thread to defend him, and I didn't even mentioned free speech. There is no logical leap here dude, you jumped to the defence of an abhorrent human being, when free speech wasn't at issue.

For fucks sake. I'm pro free speech.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))

"Everyday for me."

What a saint you are. As far as I'm aware, the last few thousand years have been stuffed pretty full of genocide, forcible displacement, religious wars, class wars, and on and on and on. I've yet to find the society of pure tolerance.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
"You're backing Milo, you jumped into this thread to defend him"

1000% wrong.

I am not backing Milo, merely his right to say what he chooses to say and that saying something that others doesn't agree with doesn't make it correct in my opinion to take joy in their suffering.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
"What a saint you are."

Nope. Just only responsible for my own actions or lowering myself to the level of those I disagree with.

"As far as I'm aware, the last few thousand years have been stuffed pretty full of genocide, forcible displacement, religious wars, class wars, and on and on and on. I've yet to find the society of pure tolerance."

So I guess we shouldn't try to do better?

I am seeing a pattern here.

So it sounds like you are saying that since there has been a history poor behavior that excuses it now.

Hey, someone jumped off a bridge, lets all go jump off bridges!!!!
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
And I'm not attacking his right to say shit. Free speech =! Consequence free speech.
The consequence of his speech is I find him loathsome, and will be be happy when he eventually passes away because the world will be a better place without him polluting it with his thoughts.

"While his comments are certainly bizarre in regards to his sexual views, I think it would be an extreme exaggeration to call it advocating pedophilia in a true definition of the word."
Really? You aren't backing him? You can say you're playing devils advocate, but the comment above is still justifying his behaviour which basically equals backing him.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
13 Sep 17 UTC
"So I guess we shouldn't try to do better?"

Classic misdirection. You're a great rhetorical artist.

You said that you wanted to return to the days when people didn't take joy in others' suffering. Now that I demonstrated that those days have never existed, you're just being a saint for wanting a better future instead of being a saint for wanting to return to a better past.

Which is it, KB? I can get on board with a better future, but I'm not about to feel the same level of sympathy for Milo as I am for just about anyone else made homeless by this storm.
damian (675 D)
13 Sep 17 UTC
Also the world isn't this black and white shit.

The person advocating for relaxing laws so he can have sex with children is not morally equivalent to the person who wants to see him suffer. They aren't at the same moral level.

Now is the person who disagrees with him and finds his views abhorrent but manages not to hate him a better person than the one who hates him. Sure.

Would I be a better person if I was filled with love and compassion and found a way to open my heart and forgive the people I hate. Sure. But not everyone is capable of doing that.
KansasBoyd (25 DX)
13 Sep 17 UTC
"I can get on board with a better future, but I'm not about to feel the same level of sympathy for Milo as I am for just about anyone else made homeless by this storm. "

You haven't expressed joy in his suffering like others have.

So not sure why you are getting all butt hurt over it.

"I bet he lost a storm shutter, so obviously his house is destroyed."

Which does nothing to change the facts that there were some of found joy in the thought that his house was destroyed.

The thinking is still wrong.
