"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

Bump. No comments from commentators yet?
And it would be good to post Yebellz email as well, so that people know how to get into contact.
It's time for you to start reading the rules and stop talking nonsenses about comentary.
yebellz (729 D(G))

Given that I'm also participating in the tournament, please do not contact me about the games. If there are any issues, email the moderator address and another mod will look into it.

Also, please do not discuss ongoing gunboat games.

I'm confused. Cannot someone who is not in the tourney give a run down of the action? Or is that against the rules? I thought that we were looking for someone to do just that a few weeks ago.
bo_sox48 (5202 DMod(G))
19 Feb 13 UTC
There is no commentary... the only gunboat game with commentary is the SoW games each year and that's specifically because it's been approved by the moderators to be talked about in ways that don't influence moves any more than they intend. Other gunboat games don't have commentary.
jmo1121109 (3812 D)
19 Feb 13 UTC
Commenting on an ongoing gunboat games is not allowed. The only exception is when the game is cleared with the moderator team ahead of time and every player specifically agrees to allow commentary. Even when that is the case those commentators are picked specifically by the TD.
jimgov (219 D(B))
19 Feb 13 UTC
I did not know that. Thanks.
I will post updates as games are completed. But I echo the above comments regarding "commentary."

If you need a pause for whatever reason just PM me, whatever game you're in - I will contact the mods from there.

Just to confirm: am I right in thinking that there is no advantage to qualifying for the second round with a higher or lower score as long as one qualifies, and similarly no advantage in qualifying for the final?
correct.
the winner will be determined by their performance against the other top competitors from the tournament.

Group A game 1: gameID=110149

Result: 3 way draw

EOG:
Well I was fortunate to draw my favorite country, if you look in my profile you will see why (significantly more solos with turkey than any other power).

1901 included a northern opening by Russia and a southern hedgehog by Austria, otherwise standard openings. I went for Greece and made it through while Austria blocked Bulgaria and kept his houseboat in place which was great for me.

1902 I decided to risk allowing Italy to land the lepanto and go for Aegean which turned out to be a good decision as I bounced him back to Ionian and he did not really try to give me trouble after that. I picked up Bulgaria in the spring and England helped my cause of dominance in the south by taking stpete with an army.

1903 France has pushed far towards Germany and is attacking England at the same time with his fleets but England gets behind him to Mao and he has clean up to do, meanwhile Italy is confusing, every move he attempts is blocked and I can't nail down whether he's trying to help Austria or attack him. I'm able to move to Greece and take Serbia this year.

1904, I decided to build an army bc it looked like Serbia could be lost but Rumania was guaranteed to me, and then I could threaten sevestapol. I was also hoping to keep Italy friendly for the time being. The spring moves were better than I could have hoped for, I took Rumania and Austria backed off to cover Vienna, with his fleet at Trieste he now could not threaten me at all. On the other side of the board France had continued to press into Germany but was not even addressing England at his backside and it was clear he would collapse quickly. I swapped Rumania and sevestapol in the fall and a well timed guess blocked Italy from getting into Aegean Sea.

1905, was unproductive. Russia guessed correctly twice and I didn't get any gains but I did keep Austria from getting into position on me and Italy and Austria had a wonderful bounce at Albania, well wonderful for me. The problem was that England picked up 2 more centers on France and now had 2 fleets in the med.

1906, now I am worried about losing my good position to an English solo, I throw up support holds to Italy in hopes he will defend himself. If England gets Tunis he can surely tear through a weakened Germany and that might spell 18 for him.

1907 and 1908, the forces of Russia and Austria are too small to hold me back now and I pick up a 1 build in 07 and 3 in 08, Italy has kept England confined to a Tunis gain and allowed me enough time to ensure I capture Ionian. England and Germany have played nice the last 2 years and Germany was sprinting east, but luckily he thought better of it bc clearly a stab was coming he turns around to support hold himself until the end.

1909 I am still actually trying to ensure there is not an English solo even though I lead the center count. So I rush to block entry to tyrolia and Venice, but my fleets have the Ionian locked down. From here it was just clean up of the remaining Russian and Italian units. England had realized he could not push Germany without possibly giving up Munich and Berlin and was now holding them, there were no holes left to exploit so I hit the draw. Good game all.
