Even though it wasn't a actual tournament or anything and the games were originally 'wait for ready up' and that stopped halfway through leading to a lot of cds... i figured as they've all come to an end i would post the "results" anyway

"Shut Down" Bullshit by Obama
If we don't Federal Workers to man the WWII memorial...how come we have enough to pay the guards to put up barricades and stand guard to prevents WWII vets from visiting? How come Obama still seems to have staff at his *golf course*?

Seems Barrack Dickhead Obama has a very selective vision of what "shut down" means...

DEBT CEILING NEGOTIATIONS
If nobody has ever negotiated on the Debt Ceiling, as Obama and the intellectually vacant around here say, …then how did we get Sequestration after the Debt Ceiling negotiations in 2011. Sequestration was *Obama’s* plan, by the way.

How very little intellectual integrity exists within you morally perverted Democrats…

Rank Questions
So how long does a player remain a Political Puppet and then move on to Member, Experienced, etc?

Is it a matter of how long you've played or how many times you've won or drawn? Or is it just based on time spent on the site? Just curious. Thanks for your help....

Any interest in a 3 to 4 day phase game? I'd definitely want WTA, but buy-in, anonymity, and map (classic or modern) are up for debate. Drop a line and your preferences if interested. Thanks.

was lincoln great for our elite?
bill still seems to think the elite wanted to divide america so lincoln was a problem for them. but i am not so sure. lets say he did not declare war on the south and let the south kick out the norths military from their territory, would that have really benefited them much?

College Life
So a couple months ago I asked the WebDip community for advice for college. Many of you said that joining a frat would be a good idea, and at the very least I should check it out.
Well, on October 7th I am pledging to Theta Chi; are there any soon-to-be fellow frat mates on WebDip? What other fraternities are people a part of?

Fog of war variant
Correct me if there is already one, but wouldn't it be cool to have a variant with 'fog of war'? You would only be able to see enemy units in territories neighbouring your own territory/armies. The uncertainty would make things very interesting.. perhaps with additional distance limitations on conversation as well

GUNBOAT TOURNAMENT
As has been mentioned, I am hoping to run a gunboat tournament. I intend it to be basic but also comprehensive. I will detail some "things" below. I would like to get a read on who would be interested in playing.

7 games 4 countries here as well. And some stupid neighbors, :). I should make it out of the first round, but well see what happens. :P

7g5c here as well. And my Ready button works too.

At one time the country picking algorithm used to be biased towards choosing the countries you'd played the least in-games-you'd-already-finished. If that algorithm is still being used then it probably explains the matching selections for these seven games.

Be interesting to see if, in the games where I've got the same country twice, whether anybody else did as well.

36 hours per turn. Saying your ready button works is a way of saying which countries you are not? Maybe it should not be mentioned...We could make this a ready button discussion. When I am short on time, I put in orders just in case I dont make it back and nmr. When I have more time, I revisit the game and spend more time thinking. Many times I am undecided and will put in orders and 'sleep' on it. Sometimes if I know I will be short on time for the next turn, I will not ready so I know I will have 36 hours plus x before the deadline after. If players want a faster game, 36 hours will need to be shorter. Otherwise I dont think it should be mentioned wheterh you are ready or not in a format where we know all the participants.

+1 Trooth. I wonder what the admins are waiting for to say something like this. For the several past days players which allways point out about not talking about ongoing gunboats have been doing exact the same thing without being aware of it. Or they are aware they talk about ongoing gunboats?

yeah it is fairly brutal that people are coming on here and saying their country mix. It is not of value to anyone. is against the rules and just needless. Please stop speaking on ongoing games. We ALL know the rules and many of us have broken them.

With that being said - Trooth makes a good point re: "Ready." The games are 36 hours by design. Everyone has different lives and different abilities to get online for orders. With all that being said:

Please try and ready up when possible. It is respectful to your opponents. There is no reason to save orders that you know will not change, if you know that the following turn you will not be at risk of NMR.

Is this fair?

I completely agree with Lando and Trooth here. Please stop discussing ongoing games. Please do not discuss your countries, pause/unpause, or the ready button. There is absolutely no reason to discuss any of this.

Almost everyone in this tournament is a veteran on the site and should know better. Any further infraction will result in point docking and/or silence.

Thank you for understanding.

Brutal? You don't know what brutal is. Why don't you try to make four beats a day for two summers?

Perfect Trooth. If you sign for a 36h hour game expect 36 hours.

And don't talk about the ongoing games.
"...people are coming on here and saying their country mix. It is not of value to anyone. is against the rules and just needless..."
I think people were quietly whinging about the lack of a spread of 7 countries in 7 games in the tourney and yes, it really isn't of value to anyone (I thought it through before I posted and couldn't see anyway the information could be used, so no harm done). It would actually be *worse* if there was a 7g7c anon-tourney-mode because, when we were down to the last game, everyone would know who everyone else was. Then again, if the tourney mode extended to not revealing who played which country until all 7 tourney games were over ...

Bump
Group B has had an NMR and was dangerously close to another 2 this morning. Fortunately thanks to a participant and quick action from goldfinger0303 we were able to avert this issue.

I apologize to the participants for not making an NMR/CD policy clear before the outset of this tournament. Going forward here is what I propose:

If there is an upcoming NMR or CD please do mail me about it. If there is one in group D please also copy yebellz on the mail, so he can take appropriate action.

We will pause games to prevent CDs and NMRs. If this is a big issue for you please mention now.

With regards to Group B, I am in contact with the player who was close to missing the phases. Assuming he is able to play on those games will be unpaused.

Any questions or concerns please voice them.
Good policy.

IPCC finally admits that it was lying to us all

My stance on global warming for the last year has remained the same: The IPCC were exaggerating their claims, and that while global warming is happening, its not happening as quickly as climate scientists think.
