The Future of TV
How do ya'll watch TV? Standard Cable? TiVo? Apple TV? A mix of online services? What's holding us back from an Internet-based TV revolution? Are Cable companies to blame, or do we simply not have the bandwidth yet?

Autumn 19XX Retreats
If a player earns their 18th center, the game ends. The game does not progress into the retreats phase; it simply ends. If someone can retreat into a center of the winning player, the game will still end. I understand that once you hit 18 centers the game is over, but my belief is that retreats are a part of the season in which they follow. If they are, shouldn't they go through, even if the player has gotten 18 centers?

Ray Lewis
I used to watch this guy when I was 6 or 7 and imitate his pregame routines... he was the greatest linebacker I ever got to watch. I wore #52 on my jersey when I played football in middle school and I would have before then if they had gone that high. I know I'm going to miss watching him. Come this Sunday I have to choose my favorite player or my favorite team... whatever happens, I know I'll miss Ray Lewis.

Just one more example of lies coming out of the media.
If you've seen the news recently, then you've probably heard that a deal on the fiscal cliff will come out of the Senate, and it's up to the House to vote on it. Actually, the CONSTITUTION (as if these weisels read it) states that all bills dealing with revenue and finances must come out of the House of Representatives. I just wanted to point that out to you, and hopefully shed some light on what else is in the Constitution that we are ignoring (i.e. 2nd & 10th Amendments)

Does anyone here ever play FtF with irl friends?
And if you do, how do you prevent metagaming? In my experiences playing FtF, metagaming is rampant, but maybe that's just because of the group of friends I play with.

Why Is Obama Good?
I would like to know why people think Obama is good? I personally believe that he is a very bad president but I am also open to let people convince me otherwise. Why or why not is he a good president?

I'd be curious to hear why you think he is a bad president, I'm fairly neutral on him at the moment, so I can't really answer your original question.
Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
Well his foreign policies are the worst I have ever seen. Thanks to him the Iranians will be obtaining nuclear weapons any day now. Another major reason is he has blown this economy to pieces. It wont hit us now but it will hit the next generation hard. The third is his unwillingness to cooperate with republicans. one thing I liked about Romney was that he said once he is in office he would work with the democrats to find a solution unlike Obama who has adopted the policy my way or the highway
1) What kind of basis do you have for your claim "the Iranians will be obtaining nuclear weapons any day now" and if it is true, what makes you assert that this is a direct result of President Obama? What specific decision has caused you to believe this?

2) What do you mean "blown to pieces"? As far as I am aware this is not a technical term. The economy has shown improvement for the last little while, has it not?

3) Perhaps your point is more an issue with the political system and not the politician. It takes two parties to have a disagreement/lack of cooperation. I am certain that this cannot be "blamed" on anything Obama has done. If the Republican's wanted more of a voice they should have won the election.

I don't have an opinion on whether Obama is good or not, but you should really formulate educated opinions before trying to start shit.

"unwillingness to cooperate with republicans"

I'm pretty sure its the right whos taking the hardline here. 2 parts tax cut for every 1 part tax increase on the wealthy and they still say no? That doesn't sound like compromise to me.

Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
@yellowjacket The wealthy who have worked hard for there money shouldn't have to bail out the lazy @Lando Calrissian 1) The Iranians have been researching Nuclear power for the last decade and for the last 5 years they have been hiding there research from UN officicials sent to check on them. so yes they are extremely close to obtaining nuclear weapons and Obama stopped the Israelis from attacking and putting an end to the research. 2) Yes it has shown improvement now and I commend him for that fact but with all the debt he is putting us in it will come back to haunt the next generation. 3) There is no perfect political system and I dont like this one but I definitly have an issue with the way he is running things as well
Or we have further evidence that the Republcian's attract the uneducated. Either way, I geese largely about the mess that is American politics. It just sucks when people are so blatantly ignorant.
Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
ignorant!? I just countered every one of your arguments and you countered none of mine
You didn't counter anything, you didn't answer my questions at all.

Show me some evidence that Obama is not cooperating with the Republicans and it is not the other way around.

Your thing about Iran is hearsay and conspiracy not fact.

Why is taking on debt bad? Something had to be done and if the economy has levelled he has bought himself time. Sure, I agree that Republican fiscal policy would probably get things going better, but it would come at social costs. The tradeoff depends on your personal preference, but Obama is certainly not destroying the economy, he is doing the best he can with a shitty economy he inherited from previous presidents, republicans and democrats.

Because you disagree with something doesn't make it "bad" and since you appear to believe this I will call you ignorant.
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
Taking on debt isn't necessarily bad, but ballooning our debt from 10 trillion to more than 15 trillion (a more than 50% increase) in less than 4 years is and his debt increase is already greater than GW Bush's in 8 years in office.
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
Oh, and I disagreed with Bush's ballooning our debt by more than 4.3 trillion.
Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
haha you are a perfect example of an isolated democrat. I love educated democrats but you are not one of them. You guys go ahead and keep saying the Iran thing is hearsay and conspiracy when nukes are raining down on you. Iran is all but openly hostile to the US do you really want them to join the ranks with China, North Korea, Russia, and other nations that have nuclear weapons and hate us? Obamacare he would not allow to be changed by republicans. and bringing on debt is a very bad thing. that means you owe money to other countries therefore they have power over you. Buying himself time is an extremely selfish thing. Sure you guys will get to enjoy a decent economy for another 10 or 20 years but the next generation is going to pay in full and quite possibly watch the fall of America
Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
I completely agree with Draugnar
Draugnar (0 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
Texas, please don't lump yourself with me. Saying Russia hates us alone proves you are an idiot. China doesn't hate us either, hell they have way too much invested in us to even think about a nuclear strike. And North Korea doesn't yet have a working missile.
I don't live in the USA thanks. America probably will fall, but it all started a long time ago and this is not Obama's doing.

I have another question - if so many nations hate the USA, then perhaps is the USA maybe the bad guy and the rest of the world potentially right? I obviously don't believe that. However, the USA has nuclear weapons. Why should I be more concerned with Iran having them than the USA. (This is rhetorical, I obviously know that there ir eligious fanaticism at play in Iran).

But you're just spouting propaganda and nothing more.
Frank (100 D)
30 Dec 12 UTC
Bringing on debt doesn't necessarily mean you owe money to other countries. Americans could be buying Treasuries, couldn't they? Also, why is foreign countries investing in America necessarily a bad thing? Lastly, it makes some sense to borrow a lot of money now because it is coming at a record low cost.
Texastough (25 DX)
30 Dec 12 UTC
haha this my friends is why America is falling. You will not wake up. If North Korea doesnt yet have a working missile how did they launch one at Japan? You provided no evidence saying that Russia likes us. If they like us so much why are they placing a law against letting Orphans come here? And yes China does have too much invested in us at the moment but what happens when they realize Obama cannot pay back the debt he owes? then they have nothing invested in us and there own minister of war said in the that war between the US and China is inevitable

I'd like to also add that he bribed senators to get them to support Obamacare, stole the election (barackofraudo.com), is being controlled by George Soros, stopped drilling for us in the Gulf while encouraging the Brazilians to do the EXACT SAME THING. Also lets not forget deficits of over $1000000000000 for four years straight. By the way, he's the only president to have a deficit of over a trillion, and the fact he did it four times is saying something.

Lets not forget how he trashed our allies (Britain, Poland, Germany, ISRAEL, Vatican, Czech Republic, etc.), went on an apology tour (his first foreign visit by the way), tried to shut down Fox News (violation of the Constitution, see First Amendment), supported Al-Qaeda in Libya, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, and so on.

Look, the list goes on and on. Obama is bad. End of story.
Don't get me wrong, I dislike Obama as much as the next hardcore leftist but I do think your points fail. With regards to Iran, anything but unofficial sabotage and sanctions will only work out consequentially bad for the country, israel and the west. This is without us considering that a) nukes will probably not be raining down on us as a consequence of not blowing up those goddamn crazy muslim arab terrorists (putting it in language the right can understand), and b) we have no moral authority to enforce nuclear non-proliferation whilst having the best nuclear arms capacity in the world.

The economy has improved under Obama etc., I agree it will have huge issues in the future, but that's not his fault (compared to any other possible figure), it's the cyclical crises that are inherent in capitalism, which I'ld say he is managing as well as one can.

He's shown a willingness to compromise - more than he should given that the democrats have a great share of the executive and legislature, the republicans are not being very conducive to compromise, and the republicans are by and large spewing out policies worse than his.
Draugnar (0 DX)

Actually, foreign countries (plural) investing in us is a good thing. The bad thing is when that investment is predominately from one foreign country (China). And especially when that country has a reputation for manipulating it's own economic reporting.
Awkward moment when you mistakenly assume this site is filled with relatively intelligent people and then the retarded right come out in force...

You guys need to understand that the US Dollar was DESIGNED to fail. It's been almost exactly 100 year since the first domino was pushed, and we're nearing the end game. The Fed is injecting $85B/MONTH into the US economy. When they stop, we're going to go into a deflationary depression. If the don't, we're going to be hit by hyperinflation.

A government should NEVER borrow money.

@Socrates Dissatisfied: The economy has not improved under Obama. Right now we have 2 days, 3 hours, and 9 minutes until the Fiscal Cliff, which destroys your argument and the economy.

@texas - They did *not* launch a missile at Japan. They attempted and it failed. So no working missile. Failed missile = no working missile. Get it?

There was a forbes article recently showing that Obama has grown government Spending by the least of any president in 50 years, or something like that. The debt is going up, because taxes are down.

The thing about Iran and nukes, is that they are always 1 or 5 or 3 years from getting them. Honestly, based on the way the world acts, if i were Iran i would want them. That being said, it doesn't seem like they are going for it. I don't want to nuke or invade a country on more trumped up charges. I read an article recently which said they're research is for medical purposes and everything they buy shows that. If this is another UN presentation level of facts you are working off, then we may as well discard everything you think of Iran.

Obamacare was debated for a long time, and Obama gave up concessions to get republicans aboard, and yet none came aboard. The republicans don't negotiate. I am glad Obama is finally not giving up ground until there is someone on the other side doing the same.
