@ Nigee: I am quickly becoming a fan of having you be the Austria to my Italy. As for the rest of this tournament, I'll stick by my earlier posts about my poor play. I overcommitted on games and am paying the price.

@ Alex: Way to hold with that last SC.

BJ, I thought we worked well there and resisted the temptation to attack each other which worked to our advantage but my lack of fleets meant I was hamstrung at the end game.

It's tough to build fleets as Austria. Just one port and Italy is always sitting there in Vienna with the potential quick shot into Trieste. I agree we worked well together. I enjoyed it.

Well, I'm just glad those games are over. Game 4 was one of my worst performances as Turkey, and game 2 was officially my worst job as Italy. I lost game 5 by being greedy instead of smart - thought I had to make up for SCs lost elsewhere in the tournament.

Still, I'm excited to see who pulls it out. If game 3 is a solo, then really it's pretty much anybody's tournament.

I was all over the place in some of those games. I'd start one direction, change my mind, and then flip again. All I can do is shake my head and be thankful my deaths were quick.

I like these little Tourneys, hopefully one day I'll win one.......

lol, I think in the last one I won the full press game, and this one I had 17 centers. Can we do a 2 gunboat, 1 public, 2 full press spread in the next one? I understand gunboat live because it's quite a time crunch to talk and submit orders with 5 minute turns, but for 24 hour phases full press is the best way to play :-)

Lol not at all. I find full press more fun and interesting, and if I lost in both I'd be interesting in improving in both so I can start winning (just like I still am now, because I didn't have a perfect performance). Then again, with a sample size of 2 I could really just be trash at full press and a lucky bastard ;D.

i think i i am defeated in the last one to... i really played horribly this tourney (amazing how fast a 9 center power can lose his territory..

There is some good subtlety in no press games and I'm still learning but as you learn it does become more fun....... anyway I'm rubbish at Diplomacy :-)

FD you did tell me you were doing well in a Tourney, which one was that?

lol, but there is infinitely more subtlety in full press games just because you have a comparison between words and moves. Words are infinitely more complex than the set of possible moves you can do anyway.

Oh PS: Boseph. I really was interested in the A/I alliance from the start until Russia said he was friends with Austria (Fortress and Austria). It would've been interesting to see how it could've turned out :D
