Eric it is because I can chat or argue with people while monitoring my games. Makes it a lot easier.

I also have a question. If black people are African American, asians are Asian American, and latins are Latin Americans. Am I a European American. If you notice on any application they typically have all PC names and then white.

some of them have to do with country of origin, some of them have to do with looks and skin color, and "hispanic" as you may have noticed is a totally different one altogether, which, best i can make out, has something to do with historical colonial contact with Iberia and/or living in a country for a while that did. lol.

I have been having this problem with scholorships. I am a white christian male. I am screwed. I can't get pregnant, I am not a minority, I am thinking about crippling myself (Just Kidding) so I can get some money or I am going to be in debt.

HC, you're male, and that in and of itself is an advantage, since college applications are dominated by females. Include a dick shot in your application and you're all set.

Here is the problem my family is middle income but I am smart. Therefore my schools cost around 216,000 for 4 years.

if u r smart u can get merit scholarships

if u r low middle income u can get need scholarships

if u r upper middle income u can pay for school

if u are european u dont have to pay 4 school

I never understood why gender and/or race had to be added into admissions. How about we just look at grades, SAT/ACT scores, activities etc and take all the rest of it out.

it should be based mostly on class but race is a valid concern imho

Why is race a valid concern? College admissions should be based entirely on merit, skewing them to meet demographic requirements seems stupid.

Yea I put this arguement mostly to mess with my friend. Cannot get merit scholorships my school uses an unweighted GPA. I am in all AP classes yet I am ranked like 27%. We have like 15 people in our class with 4.0's most are not in AP classes.

because there are institutional and historical reasons why minorities do not score as well on test scores and get as good grades.

fix the inequities in our society and then yes you may abolish affirmative action but until then affirmative action is one of the ways of fixing the inequities in our society.

and yes it will lead to discrimination, but as a white kid who benefited from being white, i do believe it's still the right thing to do.

basically, if you believe no race is smarter than another race, then you should see perfectly demographically representative campuses with no action. surprise, you don't. so you either believe some races are dumber, or you believe there is discrimination against minorities without affirmative action in place.

i understand where you're coming from. as whiteys, we aren't used to getting the short end of any stick, but in reality its more like reparations for all the good stuff we got unfairly.

Because it is an ethical question. There is no doubt that minorities (I'll use blacks in my example) have much lower income rates and employment rates than whites. This is because of racial policies and actions by our country. Thus they are in lower classes because of our racist past, and have trouble competing simply on merit due to worse conditions. One of the biggest things is that African American youth must work when they are kids either at the job or at their house while parents work, thus causing their schooling to suffer.

Holy hell, where are you going that it costs you 216k for four years? $26,000 a semester is absolutely ridiculous. Undergraduate school is not worth that much money. Seriously, if you're not pulling in decent scholarships to put that number down, go somewhere cost-efficient for undergrad and save the big bucks for grad school.

I cannot in my state with what I want to major in. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. 54K a year.

I know someone who easily paid that for college. She went to Columbia in New York and the adjacent Judiac school. Even with scholarships she's in crazy debt.
