I heard the other day that Cleveland may be interested in Flynn...thoughts?

If you're smart you'd give up that #1 draft pick for Flynn right now if you need a QB rather than risk getting the next Ryan Leaf.

I'd keep Stafford over Flynn. Anyone can be good for one game with the number of pieces Flynn has to work with.

To the OP... Really? Andy Dalton will be Rookie of the Year and is better than a lot of veteran QBs (<*cough*>Carson Palmer<*cough*>). I don't even know *who* the BEngals backup is. Dalton fucking *rocks*!

And I misread, but I'd still put Dalton above Flynn.

yes, dalton does rock, but why take a chance when you can get more of a sure thing? also, does colt mccoy have the tools to be a starter in the nfl?

Dalton has AJ Green and a weak schedule. Cam Newton will be rookie of the year. Without Newton, the Panthers are worse than the Colts.

Dalton - 700 fewer passing yards, lower QB rating, and same number of passing TDs as Cam who also had 14 rushing TDs and about 700 rushing yards. Dalton had 1 rushing TD. and 130 rushing yards.

It's not even close. Especially when you factor in Newton's receivers' propensity to drop passes and/or fumble when in scoring position.

The sports pundits at ESPN disagree. They say Andy Dalton will get it as well. And if the Bengals can mount a comeback (which is actually where they are strongest). But with Miami's win, all they have to have happen is the Raiders or Broncos lose (both are losing in the third right now) and they still make the playoffs. Looking good for the Benglas and Dalton right now! So do you think anybody is going to name a rookie QB of a team who not only didn't make the playoffs but had a loosing season as RotY over a rookie QB who lead his team to the playoffs? Really? Look at Newton's turnover rate... Then look at Dalton's.

To Draugnar: Really? No, not really. My original post was full of exaggeration, as should be clear. But this is twice now I've watched the guy lead a Superbowl caliber team in outstanding performances, something I've yet to see Cam Newton or Andy FoTM Bengals QB do.

I'm not making this statement entirely based on observed performances, though those do lend support. I'm making a prediction to make me look smart and those foolish enough to disagree look stupid, and the prediction is as follows: Flynn is the real deal and will be remembered as a hero long after both of those fellows are loooong forgotten.

So go ahead and disagree, ye naysayers, but in ten years, be prepared to look stupid :)

If Cam Newton gets RotY, then I'll donate up to $100 to webdip as a match of the ant-Dalton camp. If Andy Dalton gets it, I want all the Cam Newton guys to put up at least $20. Total it up and that is where the match comes in, but you have to put your bets in this thread before they announce the winner and only bets of at least $20 count towards the match total. I'm not gonna have a bunch of $1 betters rack up a $100 risk. If your willing to risk something moderately significant, then I'm willing to match it per the rules above.

And to reemphasize - 1200 more yards and 13 more TDs. Dalton hasn't scored a TD in the Baltimore game.

You're not going to give it Dalton on the strength of him having 4 fewer turnovers on far fewer plays where he is actually involved in the offense. Newton had 120 carries. Dalton has had 35.

Nobody cares about Flynn. Ponder had a great game vs the Packers nobody was saying Ponder was the second coming of Christ. Flynn has good weapons and a good line. The Lions pass defense has been horrible all year.
