Hey! I know I'm not a name you'd recognize, but I used to play a lot years ago and I'm a veteran of some good games. I've been getting back into the game I would most definitely be interested, though I won't be free for all that time so we'll need to discuss it. :)

Thanks also for thinking of me. If we can get a good group of folks together and the timing is right, i'd be down. I think I have a trip planned for the 29th to the 2nd, but I think that should be outside your window. Also - I am working that week, so afternoon towards evening EST will be my limitation I think.

I just have a question on this rule. In some cases toward the end-game, is it not a viable strategy to start throwing centers at the larger power if you fear that you'll be eliminated, in order to scare the board into including you in the draw?

Yeah, actually, in support of goldfinger I take slight issue with the notion that it is not within the spirit of the game to go kamikazee against a player whilst giving land to another. Sometimes, the only strategy to ensure survival is to go batshit crazy against the person with the power to include you in the draw, let you survive, etc.

Perhaps we can amend the stipulation to say that the only motivation ought to be for personal benefit?

Id like to play in this setting, unless you'd prefer only more experienced players.

@ Babak: That is the point of this thread to find at least 7 that agree to play on those terms. I think it is worth a try. I know that you, yebellz, FS and me do, all we need is 3 more (or 10)... tmining might be an issue, yes, maybe we'll have enough for 2 games.
@Bilbo/rancher: yes, let's figure the timing out! I assume that it would be best to get 2 games started if we have enough people, one around european and one around US time. Let's see how many are interested and where they are.
@goldfinger/FS: I agree that is a valid tactic. I will stick with Absolutely no CD's though! The threat is a valid tactic, what I was more getting at with this comment, was that I am currently in a game where one power suicided in early midgame! and even refused to retreat with his last unit into a center the dominant power held (among other bad things the turns before like not replying to messages from people trying to help from the other side of the board).

Teamspeak sounds like it would be very interesting to try, but only if everyone is on board with that of course.

Yup.

I've played a few games and it's a ton of fun.

Set up one Global channel and 3 Room channels. Just go into a Room that is empty if you want a private conversation.

I would like to participate in this as well- the format sounds cool and I'd love to get some game play in that more closely mirrors tourney play.

Does TS have some kind of Ping system that we can use to let others in a room know we want to talk to them?
