How to Get People to do What YOU Want
Diplomats fall into different categories or archetypes. Some are bossy and curmudgeonly. Some are vague and try to stay neutral toward everybody. Some are pushovers (the best allies of course!). And some are true diplomats. There is a lot to say on this topic and I hope to get a lot of participation in this thread, but I'd like to start with a couple pointers that have served me well:

Luck in diplomacy.
I found a case of luck. In gunboat, you have 2 SCs open, and can move to one, the opponent can as well. You will either get in one or bounce. 50-50 chance of each. Luck is involved.

Out-Guessing Your Opponent
Oftentimes you are presented with difficult tactical decisions. Consider a move where you could take a SC two different ways. Your opponent can defend against either move successfully, but not both. Which move do you choose?

Now that he's gone, I kind of miss him. Though his comments were often inane and nonsensical, there was a sort of clarity of thought to them that, in retrospect... I really respect. You might even call it a kind of genius? Come back to us, KA!

Yes...the police scanned the crowd, found a guy they pre-determined was a veteran, and targeted him. Moron. He was in a crowd breaking the law and suffered the consequenced of civil disobediance....you know, the rule of law, the thing he (in theory) fought for. I don't think veteran status grants anybody the right to violate the law...and if he got cracked in the head while resisting police, too bad.

That being said, my brother is a 2-time Iraq war vet and is getting set to deploy to Afghanistan soon, so I am certainly on the side of vets....especially when they are law-abiding citizens. Nice attempted smear, Commie...

+1 krellin. The fact that he is an Iraq war veteran is meaningless. Just an attempt to blow this out of proportion...
Very true, the fact that he's a veteran is meaningless.

In Greece when police kills people we riot for at least 2 years...
Fuck the police.
Fuck the Law.

yep
If you could give us a Greek perspective of the debt crisis, that'd be great....because honestly your strikes are causing huge economic losses in the country, decreasing government revenue and putting your country into even bigger shit than its already in

i'd say the problem is in most cases not the money but the fact people want the problem to be the money, some crazy guy who thinks he saves the world thinks the world is better of if we don't have time to think and keep on working, i mean, come on, if you look at history problems with money start when there is enough food and all for everybody on the whole world, and now people in africa are suffering because some guy with political influence, probably in USA doesn't or didn't want us to think, fearing apocalypse or something like that...
ok, now start busting my theory guys!!
hellalt (40 D)
27 Oct 11 UTC
That's just crap goldfinger.
The Greek government is corrupted.
I pay 50% of my revenue in new taxes to get shit for social security in exchange.
For fucks sake I wish social security would NOT be mandatory. I would be rich.
All that new government revenue is coming from the pockets of simple people with small salaries (800 euro average salary dropped to 500 euro when the rent costs 300 euros...) and they are getting into fucking German pockets.
That when Germany owes Greece 560 billion euros for war compensation that is 5 TIMES OUR DEBT.
So fuck the Greek governent France Germany and EU.
Workers will break this government sooner or later.
When you get raped you don't say thank you, you fight back.
So strike strike strike till the end of the world.
Yeah, but you don't get the fact that you're taking down the EU and the global bond markets by doing this. Since you guys are raising such hell, Spain, Italy, and Ireland are getting shafted with higher interest rates, and now they're more likely to default. If everyone thinks the government is corrupt, why don't you vote them out?

And Germany just finished off their WW1 war compensation, give them some time to work off the WW2 stuff.
hellalt (40 D)

When we got the loan deal Europe promised we ll be back in the markets in 2 years, that is 2012.
Yesterday they promised we ll back in 2027.
Till then European representatives will stay permanently in Greece.
So they are just full of shit.
Personally I have lost 50% of my income due to the German liars.
This is just their concept of WWIII. economic invasion, no need for guns, easier, less costs blah blah.
Greece is just the 1st country in the list, the weakest link. more to follow.
What they don't expect is that the rage of the people will force them to get into a helicopter and go home, along with the traitors in the Greek government.
steephie22 (182 D(S))
27 Oct 11 UTC
and the thing that screws up Greece would be the silly government, the riots are needed to change something since the government won't change their mind because there are standing millions of people waiting for the parlement...
no, i'm not Greek...
oh, and the problem is not just Greek, it's in whole of Europe, America is greedy, making money and not spending it, but anyway, it's a global problem that can be solved by letting the people keep more money...
obviously my theory is full of untrue statements and such things, but i think i'm right in the big lines...
hellalt (40 D)

"If everyone thinks the government is corrupt, why don't you vote them out?"
they were elected 2 years ago promising "There are billions of euros available" (exact words of the prime minister).
Since then 10 of his members of the parliament have resigned and whoever disagrees with his plans is kicked out of the team.
Not even the base of his political party wants him anymore.
That's why in every strike around 300.000 gather outside the parliament.
Everyone is demanding elections now but he just won't quit so we have to wait for 2 more years or for 3 more members of the government to resign.
I don't agree with all this patience. Let's enter the parliament by force!
hellalt (40 D)

Obviously the problem is the capitalistic system (and I consider myself a liberal).
Noone understands why this global crisis is happening and none knows the way out.
The problem is that we have no alternative to capitalism...
he certainly fits obis description of protesters, owns a software buisiness and was an iraq war veteran
Yeah, and they're pushing back their expectations because government revenue projections are inaccurate because the whole damn country is striking! I mean, yes there are flaws in the system, and yes the system does not work, but everyone has to work until some fundamental chance happens. I don't know how the law works in Greece, but you can vote government members out, right? Send petitions? I mean, think of the tourists you're driving away, the cost of the police, the cost of everyone not working! You're driving your own country to shit at this point, not the government. I do not doubt that you government was the problem, but that doesn't give you the reason to fuck your country and in consequence the whole world as a result. The problem is widespread, and Greece is the weakest link, so that's why the whole world is interested in getting Greece out of this crisis. Actually, everyone but the Greek population seems to be interested

wow, didn't read the messages between my 2 posts yet...
but hellalt seems to be with me...
i think too eventually all EU are going to fall down, however, i think it's not Germany's fault, if they would've payed the loan deal they would've been the weakest link, and those riots are against those morons governing Europe, i'd say go on untill we're back to Anarchy, that's at least more fair...

"The problem is widespread, and Greece is the weakest link, so that's why the whole world is interested in getting Greece out of this crisis. Actually, everyone but the Greek population seems to be interested "
That's just the Germany myth dude...
What EU wants is to establish an economic dictatorship in Greece to set a paradigm so that the rest of the countries obey.
Noone is interested in saving Greece. If they completely destroy Greece then they will have set an example to use as a threat to the rest weak members of the EU (If you don't do as I say we ll make a Greece out of you).
So I strongly doubt everyone is interested in saving us.
Our only solution is getting out of EU, denying paying the debt and returning to national currency but that requires some government with balls.
And no we cannot force the prime minister to resign. he has to lose 3 more members otherwise we ll wait 2 more years.
Besides the other political parties aren't better...

Anyway, I have lost my hope in everything.
This year my income will fall from about 1700 euros/month to 1200 due to taxes.
if it falls under 800/month then I'm just going to migrate to Australia, Canada or New Zealand.
And if I want to stay relatively close I ll choose Scandinavia :P

the Greek population knows that it won't get over before the government is gone, their money is gone!
if the Greek government would've had more money there would've been more police!
now they use a strategy they will keep on using untill the government is gone: they loan (is this the right word?? i mean they get money to pay it back later with rents money and don't work untill they are really needed, then they work again for huge prices...

unemployed reached 25% (40% under 35) but that's in the papers.
In reality the goal (like Prime Minister clearly stated) is that only 1 works in every family.
I personally numerous persons that got fired during the last year.
My girlfriend works as a public school French teacher on an island.
She used to get 1200 euros/month. Now that dropped to 780. Her rent is 250, bills around 100, car expenses 80, supermarket 200. So she only has 150e/month to go out, buy clothes, go to the cinema etc.
I'm not going to give up and leave right now cause I'm in my best period ever as a professional. I'm just so unlucky. Whenever I get something working the whole planet finds a way to get fucked and fuck me with it...

aww, in that case i'd suggest start importing guns and shoot the police with non-lethal shots and the Prime Minister with a lethal but painful shot...

I'm a self employed lawyer. Mostly I take conceptual divorce cases. I advertise through the internet (almost illegal by the Athens Bar Association) and offer small prices for my services therefore I have quite a lot clients. The problem is that soon they won't have enough money to pay me even for my small prices (40% of what other lawyers ask for)...
About the strikes: It's really surprising to see that people gather outside of the parliament by thousands and yet a small group of 100 policemen can keep them of getting into the house of shame. I don't know but if I had lost my job my income, my life I would be breaking into the parliament like a raging bull.
A lack of initiative case I guess... If you won't something done properly you have to do it yourself...
steephie22 (182 D(S))
27 Oct 11 UTC
nah, the policemen throw teargas and then it's hard to fight...
and the people only throw stones and molotovs but the policemen didn't even use their shields...
the fights were under our balcony, we had a nice view (except the tear gas is not nice :)) and basically the problem is they won't get close enough to harm the policemen with more then a scratch...
but i can't concentrate on my French like this... :)

Should I be suspicious? Multi theoretical question
When a player enter orders not to move during two turns, and then CD, just in time for another player to encircle him and grasp all of his centers, should I be suspicious of multi or that's the kind of thing that happens all the time?

Of course I won't point to any specific game, as I wouldn't want to make cheating accusations in the forum. All I want is your oppinion as wether I should bother the mods should that occurr or it's a common situation.
