Firefox 3 issues, anyone?
Ever since I've converted to firefox 3 at work, the textareas (this box I'm typing in, and the comm box) are bigger than the frames they are in. Is anyone else experiencing this?

what's your opinion?
What do you think about people who always go into CD the moment it looks like they will lose in order to keep themselves from ever officially becoming "defeated" in a game?

Conquer by retreat?
On this server, can you retreat on an enemy's territory, i.e. conquer by retreating? That was never allowed in the games I've played elsewhere, but it seems so here.

Convoy didn't get cut
In Spring 1903 of "Round 2", my (Austrian) fleet hit Italy's fleet while it was convoying an army. Shouldn't that have cut the convoy?

www.diplom.org - The diplomatic pouch. You should be able to find all kind of terms and nicknames used on this site and in Diplomacy in general.

triple alliance:

Germany austria and Italy.

Haha, jugglenaut.

Wintergreen: Italy + Russia. The term is a joke, referencing their colours (green and white in the board version).

Also, this is probably the best resource in the whole world when it comes to nicknames for Dipstuff:

i hate the jugglenaut. it gets me every time. =(

agreed with Draugnar, have a look at diplom.org

other key ones here are NMR (someone doesn't turn in moves for a turn) and CD (someone doesn't turn in moves for two turns in which they have orders to make).

Richard Sharp's book Game of Diplomacy is a good book to raed for novices
vexlord (231 D)
30 Jun 09 UTC
lol from the book:
Some people adopt a tone of moral outrage at the philosophy of the game, and refuse to play it at all: though it is already unfashionable, and will soon no doubt be illegal, to acknowledge any difference between the sexes, this attitude is particularly common among women — a cynic might say that Diplomacy threatens to erode the natural advantage their innate duplicity gives them over men in real life

yorkshire pudding: english opening where all three units bounce in yorkshire

i thought the sealion was a specific opening where france and germany take the ec and north respectively in the first year, not simply an alliance between the two countries.

i don't recommend the pudding
aoe3rules (949 D)
30 Jun 09 UTC
The pudding is quite delicious, actually. Um, for France and Germany, at least.

Yes, the Sealion is a specific opening.

djbent, FTBS? What does that mean? (Yes, I'm too lazy to look it up.)

And proud of it.
Centurian (3257 D)

The Sealion is where France opens to EC, and Germany opens the standard Den, Kie, Ruh opening. Then instead of taking holland with Kiel, Kiel moves to Denmark and Denmark moves to North Sea with support from EC. Ruhr takes Holland. France takes Spain and Belgium (probably). Each get two builds, England is screwed.

I would also say that any triple alliance is a triple alliance. What is described above is a "central alliance"

Gunboat means no talking (no press, global, private, public, doesn't matter)

Public Press means either only talking in the global tab or on this forum (usually the forum as the global tab will start losing older postings as the fall off the top).

Admin/Mod: help - 11612 activty?
Admin/Mod,
- I am SURE I moved Holland fleet to North Sea - I see no arrow
- it would have opposed Russian fleet which I seen no support that beat holland please advise.
This is at least the second time I KNOW I submitted orders and they didn't work (updated, finalized). Other time was a French fleet not produced (3rd build of 3 allowed) on another map.
