@Draugnar - I can't believed you mentioned Aerosmith and the Eagles in the same breath as The Stone and the Beatles (I'm not even that big a beatles fan but Christ they're certainly better that the Eagles or Aerosmith!).

I'll take Styx over either of them any day.

Take as many points as you want, Aerosmith sucks, and The Eagles suck even more. (Ok they had ONE good song in Hotel California, but everything else they did was awful.).

This is why I'm so mystified by your inclusion of two bands that are so obviously terrible in a list of other bands that are actually quite good! The Who and The Doors are both great!

I think that most classic rock is bad, personally. I'm not sure why...it just gets n my nerves for some reason.

What about Seven Bridges Road? How about the stuff they do now from their former solo albums (like Life's Been Good and New York Minute)? You really don't like the Eagles? And Aerosmith are the gods who made Dream On, Janie's Got a Gun, Walk This Way, Dude (Looks Like a Lady), Rag Doll, and Sweet Emotion. How can you POSSIBLY not consider them one of the greats?

Of course, no list of great bands would be complete without Led Zepplin.

I really do hate the Eagles. Aside from Hotel California everything else by them I've ever heard (and I've heard quite a bit) has been boring schlock.

Aerosmith does have a few good songs, Walk This Way being one of them, and a few somewhat fun songs (Dude Looks Like a Lady) but again for the most part I just don't see much to like in their other stuff. (I ESPECIALLY hate Sweet Emotion). On the whole I see most of their catalog (especially everything from the 90's onward) as just boring formulaic music without any real depth or anything interesting to recommend it.

Look when I was in middle school I liked Aerosmith. But I liked a lot of stuff back then that I now recognize isn't very good.

As surprised as you seem to be that I don't like either of those two bands, I'm just as surprised (if not more) that you can't see how much better every other band you've mentioned is than these two.

Even if you do like them, that's fine, but all the other bands you've mentioned, Led Zep, The Doors, The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Beatles are all in a completely different league.

the beatles are the best ever hands down bar none.

led zep is fantastic, but their music all starts to sound the same after a while.

with the beatles you can pick which album you want to listen to based on your mood - they've got something for every occasion

I know it's a controversial opinion but I don't actually like the Beatles all that much. I think they're very very good, and I recognize they did a lot to change music, but I've just never quite been able to connect with their music the way other people seem to be able to.

But even if they aren't really for me (though I don't DISlike them), I can recognize the talent there and the quality of the music.

And I'd much rather listen to anything by The Beatles than Aerosmith or the Eagles! ;)

This might make a lot of people hate me (but hey, this thread is made for trolling) but I really cannot stand the majority of the Beatles' music. Even Franz Ferdinand are starting to annoy me for sounding a little too like the Beatles.

I think the Beatles (or more specifically, Lennon and McCartney) were great writers, but other artists have covered their songs to better effect.

I'll grant that Aerosmith (much like Van Halen and Styx and maybe even the Eagles) aren't quite of the level of The Who or The Doors or the others I mentioned, but I was shocked when you said they suck.

RHCP only have one real song I like, Under the Bridge.
