Question!
Let's say Russia has armies in St. Pete and Finland, and a fleet in Sweden. England has a fleet in the Barents, and an army in Norway.

In search of the lost units (map problem)
The units of games I am reviewing (i.e. not mine, but others' ones) have disappeared from the screen: every time I click "one turn forward", the colours on the map might change, but no units are displayed whatsoever (neither armies nor fleets), apart from the very first slide. Am I the only one experiencing this?

Time limits and their effect on specific powers
Heres a question to ponder- Is there any correleation between the amount of time until orders are due and which countries do well?
For example, Germany and Austria may do better in longer time games with more negotiation time, as negotiation is more important for them comapred to, sat Turkey. Curious to hear thoughts on this, and if anyone has any evidence regarding this.

By liberal, do you mean classical liberal like Thomas Jefferson or lefty liberal like Jane Fonda?
diplomat1824 (0 DX)

None of the above. I'm talking about extremist liberals like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi.
Invictus (240 D)

Jane Fonda went to North Vietnam to do propaganda for the communists.

Please, roast away. I love it when they try to justify their lunacy.

Obama keeps talking about all these magical programs he's gonna start when he's prez. And he also says that he won't tax the middle or lower class. How is he gonna pay for those programs? Taxing just the rich won't cover it. He's gonna have to tax evryone, heavily.

"Spreading the wealth around"? Isn't that the trademark of an economic communist?
Stevelers (3084 D(G))

I know nothing about economics, so this'll be my last post here, but surely not spending ridiculous amounts of money on the war is a start, right?
sean (3490 D(B))

roast away. in some ways the Phpdiplomacy forum members are somewhat like the US . We have one lone voice of anarchism, several progressive thinkers and whole lot of pragmatic moderates in the middle and one (two now with this thread) vocal bullying wingnut types.

Are you aware that the war is almost over? The Iraquis control almost the entire country. We'll be out of Iraq before Obama takes office.
diplomat1824 (0 DX)
16 Nov 08 UTC
I consider it suspisious the Obama was on a board with Bill Ayers. I'm not claiming he's a terrorist, I'm just saying it's suspicious. And what about Rev. Wright? That's suspicious. "God Damn America!"? How is that not suspicious?
sean (3490 D(B))
16 Nov 08 UTC
right now the US has 140,000 troops in Iraq. are you claiming they the majority will not be there on jan 20th?? and the billions poured into building some of the largest military and air force bases in the world?

Are you aware that Bush was not an economic conservative by any sense? Feel free to explain how it wasn't Bush and the neo-con's deregulation policies that lead to much of the current economic/housing crisis we are currently facing? Or perhaps you'd like to defend Reagan for allowing the savings and loan scandal 20 years ago.
diplomat1824 (0 DX)
16 Nov 08 UTC
Yes.
figlesquidge (2131 D)

There will still be many soldiers from around the world in Iraq, and that's not the only war you're involved in at the moment. Afghanistan is still a nation torn apart by fighting, and indeed more US soldiers died there this year than any since the war began.
Oh, and Obama: Why does it have to be suspicious? Firstly, there has been nothing wrong found, do you have evidence the national security services (who surely vet a future president) don't. Now, supposing both those you noted are 'bad people' (which i don't believe myself). We all have friends who've done things we ourselves don't support, but does that mean we're not acceptable. I know someone who stole from a large company, does that mean I'm not acceptable to work for one myself?
Also, would you really have preferred to put in McCain with the real possibility Palin would become president.
Friendly Sword (636 D)

I think that above post is rather idealistic (how rionic for a conservative), given the amounts of violence, instability and levels of US committment still in the country. Things are better, but not the way you seem `to think.

As for spreading the wealth around.... thats not only the trademark of a communist. Its the trademark of anyone who believes in Governmental organizations in general.

Its a stupid way of criticizing 'Liberals' as you like to call them.
diplomat1824 (0 DX)
16 Nov 08 UTC
So what if Bush wasn't an economic conservative? I'm here to roast liberals, not defend Bush. I disapprove of him as much as the next guy. Are you aware that the economy in the '90s was a result of Reagan's actions, not Clinton's?
sean (3490 D(B))
16 Nov 08 UTC
Again with this board with ayers thing, did you know lots of prominent Chicagoans were on this charity board, including republicans? Wright said that 9/11 was basically a result of US policies in the Middle East. "chickens come home to roost" thats a position basically taken as a given in academia. sure joe sick pack might think that al quada did it because of some vague feeling of attacking "freedom" but you would be hard pressed to get any serious policy expert to sign on to that(outside of loony conspiracy theory rightwingnut job sites)

Obama wants to put 3 additional combat brigades into Afganistan. McCain wants 2 additional brigades. It's a lot cheaper to support an adequate 2 brigades than a ricioulusly unnessecary 3 brigades.

Diplomat1824 wrote: "extremist liberals like Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi".

I am still rotfling and lolling... but from the tone of the discussion I have the impression you might even not understanding why, so - really - doesn't matter. Sure, extremists, whatever...
Wow, Ayers? Rev Wright? Wasn't the election 2 weeks ago? Why are there still desperate republican commercials?
I'm not sure you can roast anyone. I think you can spout the propaganda you've heard, the talking points that Fox News espouses. But let me know when your own thoughts come out.

If Barack Obama is a liberal extremist I hope you never visit Europe.
valoishapsburg (314 D)

Note, Diplomat1824 is simply spouting of talking points. He has not asserted any of his claim with evidence.

If you think Obama and Pelosi are far left wing Liberals then you have a very confined sense of the political spectrum. Explain how they are extremists please. Ayers has even come out a rejected the notion that he and Obama had any real relationship. Others certainly, from both parties, were invloved in the same organization with him in Chicago. Do you find it suspicious that people work with Ayers at the University of Illinois? What about McCain's involvement in the Keating 5 scandal? Certainly that must be suspicious too. How are 2 brigades adequate and 3 wholly unnecessary? Spreading the wealth around is, as stated before, the outcome of any goverment program. The police, roads, social security and many others would fit this category. How is the economic situation in the 90's a result of Reagan and not Clinton? Explain it, dont just say it. We will not be out of Iraq before January 20, 2009. Not in anyway. Didnt the Republicans argue that setting a time table was clearly the wrong thing to do, and doing such was defeat (Such as Obama's 16 month gradual removal strategy)? The Iraqi Cabinet just sent a bill to parliament that would have soldiers out of cities by June 30, 2009, and out of Iraq entirely in Dec. 31, 2011. Thats far away from this january.

You keep arguing for McCain, when whether you like it or not he lost the Election. Obama won the popular vote and the electoral college, so it's safe to say the people have spoken. I personally hope you are a libertarian and not a republican, otherwise your conservative values are represented in your party.

It seems to me that the site has become slower of late. For example writing a message and then posting it in a game as well as shifting from one game to another.
Is it maybe my server (and how do I tell - remember I do not speak geek)?
