The Pantheon's Oculus, an original brainbomb theory
So I recently did a lecture on the Pantheon. I find it interesting becuse it is a perfect example of the use of the Roman invention of the Dome and also the use of Corinthian Columns (the signature Roman column).
But at its center is the Oculus, a hole in the dome intended for structural support which allows the interior of the Pantheon to be illuminated.

It is in all the big news websites, what do people think. Is this texan law an undue burden? Should the supreme court make a decision or pass it back down? Will republicans regret blocking Obama is the lower courts start making all the decisions?

Book Club
Is anyone interested in starting a book club.

Where we pick a book each month and debate that issues it raises on the forum? (sign up below) I'm thinking of things which are political/economic books like 'Guns, Germs and Steel' by Jared Diamond, or 'Hot, Flay and Crowded' buy Thomas Friedman.

Sanders didn't suspect his campaign as far as I know, but he should. It's over for him and socialism has been soundly rejected in America.

He's pulled Hillary fairly far to the left on a number of issues. He won't be president, but socialism has been anything but soundly rejected
ND (879 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Hillary will pivot to the center left during the general election. Sanders was the only true ideologue on the left and he is done. Plus, the democrats are going to lose in 2016.

And here I thought it was going to be something about the Zodiac Killer.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Honestly its now 1430 delegates ( counting the SDs)..

Bernie would have to win more than 60% of all remaining delegates to even have a mathematical shot. Even if you dont count SDs hes down by over 300 and has lost in very important states like Ohio, Florida, Illinois, and Nevada.
Bernies only moral victories this entire campaign would be taking California and being able to say he was sort of relevant in Northern states.
TrPrado (461 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
No, Ted Cruz isn't the Zodiac Killer. At least, he won't be until he loses the primary and goes back in time to when he was at the very start of his life to take his catharsis out on the innocent victims, inspired by all the people who somehow believed Ted Cruz was the actual Zodiac Killer. Way to go, those people, you are the inspiration of the Zodiac Killer.

Nevada is a very important state? Missouri, Oklahoma are in the north?

Sanders was never expected to win these states and the rest of the calendar is pretty friendly. Clinton still needs 1,200 + more delegates to win. Today is a setback but it's not over yet. Clinton people have declared themselves inevitable like 3 times now.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Uhh yea buddy because Nevada is a swing state in the general. Also 1400+1200 is well over 2300 needed... shes about to add delegates from Illinois and even a loss in Missouri as well. What math are you using to project Bernie to a win? What states?
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
The Exit polling is showing Bernie is only winning big among Independents, he is not actually carrying majorities of Democrats.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
A fact that only matters if states are closed primaries, which many are not.

If Nevada is important then I assume you'll also say that Clinton winning the red states int he South is trivial, right? Because no way any Democrat carries most of those states. Sanders won Minnesota, Michigan, New Hampshire by a lot, and probably Missouri. Those are a bunch of important swing states. Can't have it both ways.

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/bernie-sanderss-path-to-the-nomination/

A ton of pro-Sanders states are next in the docket.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
I would say the important states in a General ABSOLUTELY include Florida, Ohio, Illinois, Michigan, North Carolina, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Minnesota, Arizona, Alaska, and Iowa.

I omit Missouri because Missouri has not gone for a Democrat in ages. Obama lost there twice.

Now is Bernie likely to be better in a general than Hillary in states like Ohio, Florida (Which no president has ever lost and still managed to win the electoral vote), absolutely not. I think he got completely crushed in the most symbolically important states to be fair.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
You post an Article from Feb 17 thats premise hinges on Bernie winning Nevada which he... in fact did not. How do you logically feel in any universe Hillary would lose New York where she was a Senator? How does Hillary manage to lose by more than 60% in every single remaining battleground (which is the numbers it would take for Bernie to catch up in delegates).
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Following the math, he actually may still lose Missouri which I think is even more problematic. He seems to only be winning in college towns in every battleground. College students alone do not carry an electorate.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
You downplay Missouri which has historically been a bellwhether state and which Obama lost in 2008 by a whopping 4,000 votes but you insist Arizona, Alaska and North Carolina are critically important swing states? What?

"I think he got completely crushed in the most symbolically important states to be fair."

Clinton also won Ohio and Florida in 2008. How did that turn out for her?
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
"Following the math, he actually may still lose Missouri which I think is even more problematic."

So now all of a sudden Missouri is important after you left it off your list? Your argument changes by the minute.

"You post an Article from Feb 17 thats premise hinges on Bernie winning Nevada which he... in fact did not."

No it did not. It had Clinton up +3 in Nevada. And at any rate Nevada has a small number of delegates and Sanders won 15 out of 35 of them. Nevada is not important.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
"He seems to only be winning in college towns in every battleground."

He won most of the state of Illinois. Hillary won the Chicago area and the western part of the state. What college towns are in southern Illinois? Furthermore he's crushing Clinton in West Virginia. Besides Morgantown do you know of any college towns in West Virginia?
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Right well Clinton won Arizona, New Mexico, and California in 2008 but lost every single southern state other than Florida last time. Hillary carried New York by 17 D in 2008.
She carried California by 8 D vs Obama.

Clinton has won 58% of the Pledged Delegates in our current election.

She also has nearly 1 million more popular votes than Bernie... lol

Way to go running away from your claim about the critical importance of winning Ohio and Florida in the primaries. Keep moving the goal posts.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
She just carried Florida and Ohio by astronomically higher numbers than she did even vs Obama.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Oh ok so he pulled in the entirety of southern Illinois because of the great SUI. Gotcha.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Just saying a lot of things are happening here for Clinton that did not happen last election. Obama relied heavily on a sweep of Virginia, NC, SC, Georgia, Alabama, Miss, and Louisiana which ironically enough Hillary has stolen every single one of them this time around, and managed to Solidly hold critical Swing states.
Putin33 (111 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Like she solidly held Michigan, Minnesota, Colorado, and New Hampshire right?

All the states favorable to her are now done. There is a reason the campaign lasts until June.
brainbomb (290 D)
16 Mar 16 UTC
Well you are alone on a soapbox on a deserted Island if you are trying to claim to be informed about the political landscape moving forward. If you wanna talk about races that are close maybe focus on the odds of a brokered convention trump v cruz. This race is all but a lock at this point. She needs what, 900 delegates to lock up the nomination?
Bernie isnt going to win New York or New Jersey, hes been barely competitive tonight at all. Missouri even if it does flip Bernie you have to admit, he isnt winning by huge margins he needs to gain a delegate lead.
The only scenario where your line of thinking is relevant is if Bernie goes total vigilante and tries to hijack the Super Delegates on the Convention floor which he would never do in a billion years.
