World map simulation software
Hello everybody! :)
Does anyone know a software to simulate movements for the world map with 17 players? There are various for other variants, I suppose a mod with the world variant should be sufficient. Any info on that? Thank you :)

2014 Webdiplomacy Tournament
As the tournament gets close to a close, I want to thank everyone that joined and a special thanks to those that helped to see it finish acting as stand-ins.

We can begin voting on best stab awards for the first 2 rounds (round 3 will wait until completion). Details wothin.

This will be a three step process. The first step is to suggest stabs for nomination to the final voting that occurred on boards you played, regardless whether you were the aggressor, victim or neither. Provide a background as to the nature of the stab. Please use the following format:

Board # -- year -- X country stabs Y country -- description of the stab (we don't need a novel here :)

Suggestions may begin immediately for the first 2 rounds, but the 3rd round (boards 7-9) will wait until all games have completed. Suggestions will continue until 3 full days after the tournament.

After suggesting stabs, each board should nominate the best stab that was seen from that board. Do not nominate your own stab (unless you were the victim). In order for a nomination to be successful, at least 3 unique votes must be given and no board may nominate more than 2 stabs, so please be more selective here. Nominations will last 3 days.

The final step is to open the voting up to anyone in the tournament. Each player may vote ONE time for any stab that was not their own (although the victim may vote for a stab he/she received). Voting will also be 3 days and I will crown the nomination with the most votes as the winner of the Best Stab award. In the event of a tie, one person will be killed at random...er...rather we will put the tying nominations up for vote to the general public for 24 hours.

I didn't encounter many stabs in the tournament, strangely enough, so I'll only recommend one for nomination.

Board 5, springtime in the year of our Lord 1906. France stabs Germany.

Quite possibly the most significant moment of the game. Sherincall (France) managed to take YHN completely by surprise (which is no small achievement), thwarting the German solo ambitions and avoiding what looked to be a likely quagmire with Italy.

Is there gonna be a new tourney soon? If so I would be interested :)

At some point there will be another, yes, but I will have to hash out the scoring system a bit before I run it again.

In the increasingly likely eventuality that no one's stab achieves 3 nominations, does the award go to ALEXTREME333 who managed to stab everyone by getting banned for cheating?

Lol Oct, it's a good suggestion.

Hopefully I can get the scoring system squared away for when I run it next. I liked the initial turnout and I was pleased to see the variety of players who will win awards for good play.
I second the vote for ALEXTREME333.

Or I would nominate the guy that stabbed the jerk on board 7 that eventual lead to a 7-way draw... that shit was crazy.
ssorenn (0 DX)

7 way draw? come on! you're fucking kidding
I kid you not... it was a really funny game.

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=156118#gamePanel
Germany stabs France, Germany stabs England, England stabs France... Germany decides he has too many games going on... Russia decides he can win the tourney with 8 centers... and stabs everyone by actually voting for the Draw. My vote is for either England for stabbing France (who ended up being the final person to vote for the draw) or Russia for voting for a draw while in the lead... effectively he stabbed Tru!

These are just the ones I was in. Some have been mentioned but I wanted to make some official nominations in the style Tru laid out.

Board # -- year -- X country stabs Y country -- description of the stab (we don't need a novel here :)

Board 3 [gameID=148789], 1901, Russia stabs England.
-- After a hard sell to England of friendship and eternal loyalty Russia surprises the entire board with the news that he was lying the entire time.

Board 4 [gameID=151803], 1908, France/Russia stabs Italy and Turkey.
-- After falsely pulling back France gets Turkey and Italy to try to cut out Russia, and then France moves back, side-steps the planned bounce by Tunis, and Russia convoys him to the effective winning centers. Dunno if people more appreciate France's Med side-step and fake-out of dropping the solo attempt, or Russia's spiteful and effective throw. There's some interesting convoys and three-way swaps involved.

Board 7 [gameID=156118], 1903, Russia stabs everyone, the spirit of Diplomacy, and decency.
--Realizing that there is an overwhelming chance that Russia will get >= 3 D for the tournament lead, he bullies everyone on board and in press into a 7 way 1903 draw:
-Germany, who was in a great position, Russia convinces Germany that he'll "play the bad guy" and not draw so Germany can put up his draw for diplomatic leverage.
-England, who was about to kamikaze into France, Russia convinces him that France isn't worth losing his life over
-France actually refused for a bit he was so infuriated with England and insisted to only draw once England was gone but Russia convinced him that Germany would leave England alive as long as he was suicide into France so it would never happen.
-Italy was under pressure and losing centers from the A/R; naturally wanted draw
-Turkey was also under pressure from the A/R; naturally wanted draw
-Austria only friend was a Russia with two centers pressed on his back; naturally wanted draw(?)[He hasn't talked to me since the game even though I PM'd him... =(]

I know we're not suppose to nominate our own, so consider by third one just a rewording to the official submission-grammar of Caballo Blanco's nomination
Tru Ninja (1016 D(S))
03 Apr 15 UTC
In the first stage of suggesting stabs for nomination, you may list your own stabs. This portion gives clarity to the stab to others. Once all suggestions are in, players will vote for official nominations from their boards (here is where you don't vote for yourself) and the goal is to get no more than 2 nominations per board for the final round.
There were a lot of stabs in Board 7... I think Russia stabbing everyone might be worthy as by closing out their game first they may have "stabbed" their chances of winning the entire tourney... I on the other hand was a replacement that as soon as the game started I realized... WTF did I get myself into I just want out... Although in hindsight at that point I should have waited one more turn and perhaps stabbed England once more to get a 6-way draw that would have greatly increased my GR.

I would like to second the nomination of Tru stabbing everyone in the tournament. In the original call for sign ups he mentioned that they were winner-take-all games, which is technically true in that webdiplomacy website traded them as winner takes all games, but then mentioned much later that the scoring system he wanted to use was pure PPSC. there's more to say on this matter that makes the stab even more painful, but I was planning on saving it for when the tournament was over. let's just say that now that I second abge's nomination
Octavious (2701 D)
03 Apr 15 UTC
If there was a tournament where this scoring system would have worked it would have been one in which people had made a donation before hand. As an experiment it was worth doing. However, now that we've seen the result of the experiment we can happily never do it again. Ever. Under pain of pain.

for those of you who are unaware, the original 21 players tournament each donated $10 to the site. this was too cover the cost of trophies and shipping, with any leftover as a tip to the site for being awesome.

In a FP game, when a neighboring player readies up in Spring 01 without communicating,
do I have the right to contact the mods, find their IP adress, contact the NSA, find out where they live, go there, make a citizen's arrest, and personally incarcerate them in a maximum security prison? Or maybe I just organize a mob and beat them with sticks?

Because I think I might should. It's a really annoying thing.

On 22 July 2011, Breivik detonated a massive car bomb packed in a van before the executive and judicial headquarters of the Norwegian capital city, Oslo, killing 8 people. That same day, Breivik made his way to a socialist youth camp on an island and shot 67 people to death with special bullets, including dozens of children and 57 victims shot in the head execution-style (more shot in this manner survived). Another 2 died trying to escape the island. Sentence: 21 years.
